We were visiting family who live in the neighborhood and they bought take out banh mi sandwiches from here--a beef, a chicken, a vegetarian "beef," vegetarian "chicken," eggplant and tofu. Outstanding crusty French bread and really interesting Asian veggies, including shredded daikon radish. The big surprise to us was the amazing flavor and texture of the vegetarian versions of chicken... More

I started a food tour at this restaurant and could've eaten everything in the store. So wish I lived in this neighborhood-- I would visit frequently.

Nicely surprised to see French pastries side by side with the Vietnamese cuisine. Iced Vietnamese coffee cool and refreshing!

Clean, modern quick service restaurant located on Broadway in Uptown serving very tasty Vietnamese sandwiches and soups. Has a retail section where you can take home the meats that they serve.Very tasty and a fantastic value for the price. Had the BBQ pork and the Special sandwiches and both were delicious with fresh bread and Asian flavored veggies.

yum. Delicious banh mi and a lot of other delicacies. Some French baked goods, too. And in a beautiful setting. A modern bakery with a few tables. Well worth a visit.

The best banh mi in the city. The french bread is crisp and the filling has just the right mix of ingredients. Very similar to what I ate in Saigon

Love the Vietnamese sandwiches, though they could use a little more protein in them. The barbecued pork is my favorite. I also love the small packaged deserts: tapioca or rice pudding with beans, bananas, or gelatin. I've been coming here since the mid-1990s and their prices have risen significantly--but still cheap enough. I just wish they put more meat in... More

No need to describe this shop as many others already did. we always stop by this place when we are in Chicago. It always seems busy, but we never have to wait very long for our orders. Go for the special sandwich if you're not sure which sandwich to get. My special thanks to a young friendly cashier working on... More

These tasty Vietnamese sandwiches are coming into fashion in this part of the country, and Ba Le is the best place to get them. Ba Le is a sparkling clean bakery/deli serving all kinds of Asian delights. We like picking up sandwiches here and going somewhere else -- a park, Ravinia, the Lake -- to eat, but there is some...
