We enjoyed our dinner with friends this past Saturday. We were seated promptly at 8 and the service was excellent. I had a salad and several appetizers and all were good. Parking was a bit of a problem but we managed! Yes, well worth the trip up north!

A restaurant can change in almost two years, for better or worse or remain consistently good (or bad). A repeat visit for an early Saturday dinner left the impression that Bistro Campagne has maintained its excellence in food, staff, and ambiance. Reasonable prices, expansive selection of wines, excellent choices of beers, and a full bar along with typical French Bistro... More

The food is delicious and the staff were great! As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the very friendly hosts. From the bartender to the busser's everyone was terrific! Charming set up with many intimate rooms, each with a few tables. Don't let the small bar fool you as it has an extensive menu. Many wonderful starter,... More

Recently came here for the first time for the Chicago Restaurant Week deal -- which was an excellent value. The restaurant is cozy and intimate, but not too crowded (I didn't feel like I was sitting right on top of the other diners). Our server, and I wish I could remember her name, was excellent. Attentive but not overly so,... More

Years ago this used to be an excellent bistro that delivers authentic French bistro taste. In the last couple of years I have noticed a significant decline. The taste of the dishes has changed, and less care is going into the preparation. For example, the beef bourguignon used to carefully prepared with each vegetable cooked separately and put together at... More

It is far way form the city center. Does not really worth to go too far for the food. The place is nice and the ambience is cozy. If you are around the are can be a good choice.

Bistro Compagne offers traditional French cuisine in a charming and intimate setting. Very congenial and helpful staff. Highlights of our dining experience featured an exceptional Salad Lyonaise, likewise the French Onion Soup and the Assiette d'Fromage. My Boef Braisee was a bit overcooked, but still tasty. This is a very nice place for a fine dinner in a relaxed and... More

Along a busy stretch of Lincoln Ave, this is a cozy, traditional French bistro in a series of small rooms with tile floors and dark wood trim. Tables are set close together, with white tablecloths and paper on top. A chalkboard lists daily specials. The menu features classics such as onion soup, pate, mussels and escargots for appetizers; main course... More

We went for a french restaurant in Chicago and the atmosphere was the right one (and there is as well a nice garden where you can have dinner weather permitting). The menu was really reinforcing the french atmosphere but I was disappointed when they served me the duck: very little meat and a profusion of salad and other side dishes.... More

Description
Bistro Campagne is a warm and friendly neighborhood restaurant in the tradition of a true French bistro. From the beginning, Bistro Campagne has strived to capture and express that ephemeral quality found in favorite small neighborhood bistros in Paris and rural France: the sense of welcome, ease, fun conversation & and of course excellent food. The setting is a charming blend of prairie-inspired decor and lively Gallic spirit. It is the food, however, that is at the heart of a great bistro, and Chef Michael Altenberg offers a seasonally changing menu of classic bistro fare that is based on the best ingredients he can find. His commitment to organic agriculture leads him to seek products from local organic farmers throughout our Midwestern growing season, and even from organic farms on the west coast throughout the winter. Bistro Campagne is committed to the use of organic food products and strongly supports the sustainable, low impact agriculture movement.
