We traveled quite a ways to eat here since it is considered by many to be a great old school Chicago restaurant. We went for lunch and it was very quiet inside when we arrived. My kid commented that all the songs that were playing were on her playlist so she was thrilled. She had the sweet and sour chicken and I had the Kung Pao beef. Both were really good and the portions were huge. The meals came with egg drop soup which was excellent and then we also had spring rolls which were very large and really good. Service was very good and the food was reasonably priced. I do wish they still had the old neon sign out front.

Was pleased with the food delivered. Flavors were very good but more surprising were the large portions. Very generous. No skimping on any entree. Crab rangoon was extremely large in size and portions. Definitely interested in trying more dishes but can say that what we had was better than most other places nearby. Packing was done well as nothing was missing or spilled. Delivery was also much quicker than they promised.

Very nice employees and decent food at a reasonable price, much less than most Asian restaurants. I'm a vegetarian and I love their Spring Rolls. My kids like the Orange Chicken and Beef Broccoli. I'd like to make a comment about two reviews posted on the same day in August 2018 stating that staff was racist. I have been coming here for many years and I have never seen any racist behavior on the part of the staff, in fact these are probably some of the nicest people I have met. In these days with the anti-Asian racism, the last thing we need is spreading more hate towards the wonderful Asian community.

Don't eat at this racist hole. They care about their white customers enough to seat their black customers in the back so they are not seen.

I am in disbelief that there is so much ignorance in this world. Times like these help me understand the importance of standing together with your own. Today I decided to walk to lunch and chose to go to a little restaurant within walking distance from work. Orange Garden Chop Suey 1942 W Irving Park Rd. Chicago IL 60613 to be exact. I walk in and a woman comes from the back and lifts her hand towards the left side of the restaurant and invites me to take a seat. I looked at the booths but they seemed small so I set my purse on a small table that had a few chairs around it. She starts speaking in her language to another lady which I could feel that it was about me but I continued to wait for a menu. The lady then comes over and says can you sit at this booth please? I said I'm sorry, I prefer a table, is that ok? She says "No its not ok, you sit at booth." I said, "is there any reason?" This lady has the nerve to say "You sit at booth, we cant have you facing that direction." I looked up and saw a table full of Caucasians and realized she didn't want me faced towards them while they were eating. I kindly got up and said, "No thank you" instead of sitting there being treated as if looking at a person of color is nauseating. I am so tired of hearing other races say that racism is a thing of the past and they ask Black people to stop bringing it up. It frustrates me that I even have to be specific with my children and say things like "You are a beautiful BLACK girl or BLACK girls rock or your BLACK skin is so beautiful" because if I DON'T then the world will teach them to hide and be ashamed of their God given features. I am so angry right now, I am the most loving person in the world. I love people regardless of their race, I enjoy conversations with strangers about their life, I also teach my children to love all people as well. I work for my money, I am a law abiding citizen yet still I am treated like this. I will never step foot in this establishment ever again and wanted to share my experience with everyone

If you want American Chinese food at an historic (since 1934) family owned restaurant, this is a fun choice. The 80 year old neon sign no longer works, the artificial orange bushes in the front are a bit dusty, the Chinese wallpaper scenes are aged brown with old coats of lacquer, there are the ubiquitous gold plastic ceiling lanterns with red tassels and dragons on the walls. It's not great Chinese food, it's good Cantonese style, like you could find in any Chinese restaurant in almost every city across the country in the 1960's. We were there on Thursday around 7:00. 2/3 of their business was neighborhood (North Center) take-out. There were 16 people dining-in over an hour and a half period.

Love Orange Garden. This is by far the best Chinese Restaurant in all of Chicago. Dare I say all of Illinois. They have amazing prices that anyone on any budget could afford. Yet there food tastes like it is made from the best and finest ingredients. The food is made with such care and precision as to solidify and carry out there name as the best Chinese food in Chicago. I love their amazing lunch specials and delicious Dinner Meals. I go to Orange Garden at least twice a month or more and recommend them to all. This is again the best Chinese food in Chicago. Don't miss out. Thanks Orange Garden For remembering me everytime I come, the delicious food and graceful service. Im a proud customer of Orange Garden.

We have been going here for over 30 years. It's not a fancy place, but the people are great, the food is delicious and the portions are huge. They have the best egg rolls we ever had. We highly recommend this place.

This is the best Chinese food I've found in Chicago. Everything I've had has been great. Bonus: if you dine in, you get free hot tea and almond cookies (as dessert).

I love this place. It's like going back in time. No fancy new-fangled nuances here. Just Chinese food prepared the way it used to be and still is today thanks to the OG. And the portions are overly generous.

The food is good, but every time i go there or order from there it gets more and more expensive. It is starting to rival in price fine dining restaurants....also delivery charge is way too high....example - i just ordered large jumbo shrimp egg foo young (3 patties) a large order of kung pao beef and 1 order of egg rolls (2) and the total bill was over $30.00 not including tip.....

Came back to Chicago to sit the grandchildren and decided to do a take out..2 blocks away where we have eaten before. Service was fast, food hot. Egg rolls great, shrimp with Broccoli very good, but the shrimp egg foo young was awful. Two fat patties in a container of gravy/broth made for one soggy mess..two bites and was tossed.. Fortune cookie good "do not try to go back in time"..

Loved it. Smaller than I expected, very old school in terms of decor, not fancy, but very good service and really good food. The General Tso's Chicken had a kick - which I really liked - and my husbands Egg Foo Yung was enormous! Egg drop soup and an egg roll each all for under $17.00! Crazy, crazy good.

We love this place. Kind of a through- back Chinese food restaurant. They have great food and the place is probably the same decor from the 70"s. Don't let that sway you. Yummy food and plenty to tale homne. Don't miss the shrimp w/ lobster sauce! the best we ever had!
