Excellent little cafe with amazing service and food. I saw a review from a year ago about the lobster scramble…it was the special today and it was AMAZING!

Wonderful breakfast on our Spring Break trip to Chicago at Sunrise Cafe! The staff were so friendly and attentive. I had the special - a lobster omelette with cream cheese, green onion slivers and it was divine with the English muffin recommended by the waitress! The girls had cinnamon swirl French toast (yum!), wonderful eggs and hash browns, flavorful sausage - everything was delicious! They even had freshly squeezed lemonade so I didn’t have to drink high fructose corn syrup that triggers my IBS! Generous portions! Everything was nicely seasoned.

We were actually on our way to another breakfast spot right down the street when we stopped to look at the menu in the window of this place. We decided it looked good to us, so we stopped here instead. Great decision! Our server was delightful--really friendly, got everything in the order right the first time, and never forgot to fill a coffee cup or refill a soft drink. We all really liked our meals--the hash browns were nice and crispy, and the bacon was actually DONE. That is such a pet peeve of mine! I hate undercooked bacon, and this bacon was perfect. I'd definitely recommend it!

We ate at the Sunrise Café on a Sunday morning. We had about a 15 minute wait. Which wasn’t too bad for a Sunday morning. Enjoyed our breakfast of eggs, hashbrowns, pancakes, bacon and sausage. We also tried their grits which I thought were very buttery and creamy, just how I like grits. Very affordable prices. Small and cozy dining space.

Friendly service and great food start your day off with a good combination in Ukraine Village. I had the cinnamon swirl French toast (one of the day's specials) ... outstanding. Great value for price, quality, and portions. Would not hesitate to go back.

If you're like me, you go to breakfast with your eyes half open and your mind half closed and your hair parted somewhere in between. You don't want a breakfast that looks like a fashion designer created it. You want the goods, the old-time favorites, hot and fresh. That's the way you get it at Sunrise Cafe. Located at 2012 West Chicago Avenue in the Ukrainian Village, between Damen and Western, it has been cooking breakfast favorites, soups and sandwiches for breakfast and lunch since 2004. For breakfast, I never pass up traditional Eggs Benedict, an English muffin topped with ham off the bone with two poached eggs and hollandaise sauce, with a side of hash browns. But steak and eggs and the Italiano Scramble, two scrambled eggs with Italian sausage, sauteed red peppers, spinach and mozzarella with hash browns, and a Belgian waffle with fresh strawberries are delicious alternatives. For lunch, the patty melt with American cheese and grilled onions on rye or the fresh Angus beef burger with American cheese and bacon or the smoked turkey sandwich with cheddar, lettuce, tomato bacon and house-made ranch dressing on sourdough bread with a bowl of chicken noodle soup is highly recommended. Looking for something different? Try the Cuban sandwich, pulled pork and ham with pickles, Swiss cheese and yellow mustard on multigrain flatbread with rice and beans, arguably the best Cuban this side of Tampa.

Today was my first experience using Grub Hub. I like it. The chicken fried steak breakfast... I would so not do it again. The eggs, gravy, hash browns all good... like several reviewers said... more or less like I'd cook it at home... Not a gourmet experience but mostly decent enough... The chicken fried steak... a large portion. Maybe the people who like it are more interested in getting a lot of food rather than good food... It was the commercially prepared stuff... actually it tasted even worse than banquet meals chicken fried steak meal... mostly breading... not sure if its got any meat or is it maybe a meat paste... ugh... and chicken fried steak is so easy to make... call me Mary... I'll give you my recipe... Cut the portion in half to hopefully make it more budget friendly. Don't worry about not giving me a refund... I didn't complain to get a refund... I sincerely think you should be ashamed to be serving that poor excuse for chicken fried steak. Like I said in the title of my review, I wouldn't feed It to my family.

We were originally planning to go to a nearby restaurant, but they were closed for the week, so we came to Sunrise. I'm sure glad we did. The breakfast was fantastic. The interior is basic, but that doesn't bother me. The Mexican Benedict was the best breakfast dish I've probably ever had. We were seated in the back of the restaurant because we had such a big group, and our server was fantastic. Definitely recommend.

My daughter and I ate at this restaurant on a Saturday morning. We originally walked by it to go to another restaurant but the wait there was too long. We went back to the Sunrise Café and were able to get seated immediately. The décor was nothing extra, but the service was quick and very attentive. The menu was varied and offered a lot of Mexican breakfasts such as burritos as well as common breakfast foods. My daughter ordered the breakfast burrito and I ordered a Belgian waffle with pecans. There were several people coming around filling up coffee as needed, which was a nice plus. The food came out quick, hot, and was really good. My daughter loved her breakfast burrito served with beans and rice. The burrito was large and she was able to take 1/2 of it home. My waffle was fresh, and hot. I would definitely recommend this place.
