We walked by this restaurant and decided to try it (mainly because we were hungry) and felt like bite sized food. To our surprise we thoroughly enjoyed the tapas and the sangria! The plethora of seafood tapas were amazingly tasty. Instead of a light meal we ended up ordering a large number of tapas dishes and 2 jugs of sangria!... More

I don't normally have very high expectations for the food at tapas restaurants: It's often more about the (group) experience than the food. But I went to Emilio's alone and I was very pleasantly surprised. It was some of the best food I've had - ever! I started with the escargo. Five big plump snails on circles of toast -... More

I stopped here for a late lunch before a meeting - the service was excellent. The food portions were good and the salad was absolutely excellent. My chicken sandwich could have used more spices. The margarita was really great

We go to a lot of tapas restaurants on our travels and this one was up there with one of our favourites. The goats cheese dish was so tasty and the croquets are very good. Brilliant sized portions. We shared 5 dishes and loved them all. The pitcher of red sangria was very good. Our waiter was also very good... More

I'll start off by saying the food here was excellent, super tasty and cooked to perfection! The only downfall is that a lot of the food was quite spicy and traditional Spanish food uses very little to no spice. I'm not sure if it was like this to suit American tastes, but that was the only downfall. Overall, the service... More

Even when my favorite waiter has left.. Luis is attentive , helpful to the needs of his customers. I have been at the other Emilio's at hillside and the service and atmosphere does not compare . If you visit the establishment be sure to ask for Luis and be sure to tip him well because he will make feel like... More

My wife and I ate at a table in the bar area. We don't know Spanish wines or liquors. Victor, who has worked there for 20 years, provided outstanding recommendations for pairing our wine with food recommendations, as well as after-diner drinks and desserts. His attentive service made for a truly relaxing evening after a long day at a trade... More

Had dinner here with friends. We sat outside, it was lovely. The sangria was good, not great, but drinkable. We ordered 5 plates of tapas for the 3 of us, it was good. Nothing impressive, but good. The waiter disappeared so the manager presented us with the check. We would have stayed and ordered more, but it was awkward waiting... More

Went to this restaurant on a busy night, Sunday of Labor Day weekend, and the service was excellent as well as the food. Our server, Norma, was very informative about menu items and portion sizes. My husband and I split several tapas dishes to include the stuffed dates and duck slices, three to four tapas plates will fill you up.... More

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We were seated in the bar area away from crowded floor with large tables. We ordered Serrano ham and cheese, lamb meatballs (spicy sauce), bacon wrapped dates (served too hot burned mouth) and the venison special. Overall the meal was ok. Next time might just get two tapas and regular dinner. Bread pudding w blueberries... More

Staying in Streeterville

Neighborhood Profile
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
