Started out slightly disappointed, since the rooftop seating I requested via Open Table when I made my reservation wasn't available despite having booked several weeks in advance. Main dining room was fine if nothing special and pretty noisy. Food was good but not great. Prices pretty reasonable for what you get and the service was both friendly and efficient. Perfectly... We arrived without reservation early evening. The service was excellent, delivering the courses very efficiently and responding to all our needs. One of us is a coeliac and adjustments were made to the elements in each course to provide good gluten free options. We enjoyed all the food, especially the sea bream.

We love Greek food which never means a Gyro sandwich shop...we found this after a search of Greek restaurants in Chicago and were beyond thrilled with the food and the service. The wine list was exemplary - while many Greek restaurants carry a bottle of Retsina, Taxim had a GREAT bottle (for the uninitiated, it's really an oxymoron to have... More

I am amazed that this place doesn't get more recognition. Serving up sophisticated Greek and Mediterranean food in a cozy setting. Service is always attentive and knowledgeable. The food is consistently great

It appears to be a very small place but it's quite a bit larger, including a lively outdoor rooftop section. It's up a long staircase but worth it. The food and drinks were well prepared and James was right on time with the service. We ordered a series of small plates which are a good way to try Taxim's choices.... More

Waitress recommended what she said was dry white and turned out to be sweet- that's the bad, the good is that she took it back (no charge) and replaced it with something else. As the appetizers kept coming (we ordered a lot) each was better than the last. Okra, artichokes, eggplant, sardines, greens, yum yum. Sadly the mains were a... More

One of my favorite restaurants in all of Chicago because of its fantastic service (the staff goes out of their way to make each dining experience spacial and memorable) excellent quality food and great energy! If you're looking for hearty fresh tasting food. The decor is cozy and warm on a cold winter night.

Authentic Greek food with fine and rare Greek wines by artisanal producers. I ate here a year ago and it's still excellent. And very popular with locals. Beware that on weekends it is crowded and the noise level can be high due to the acoustics.

We ordered a few small plates and salads, they were all tasty. From small plates (mezedes) the octopus and Cypriot-style pork sausage were good. It is difficult to find a good octopus in the US anyway, this was cooked well. Peynirli and – Politiki-style wood fire-roasted eggplants were delicious. My favorite at the end was the warm chocolate semolina cake,... More

David has done something marvelous with deeply researched authentic Greek cuisine... The sea bass with dandelion greens was exceptional, and the white wine from Santorini was clear clean and crisp like the seashore on the beach at dawn... Lovely staff and gorgeous mellow Greek and Arabic music helped create a wonderful mood...
