Funkenhousen promises German heritage and southern hospitality. It definitely delivers! From their happy hour menu, my husband and I each got käsespätzle and split a hot schnitz sandwich. That Nashville hot glaze and zucchini pickles on the sandwich 🙌🏻 I firmly believe there should be...More

This was our third visit to Funkenhausen. The menu changes periodically, so we had a chance to sample new dishes. They are still a playful mash-up of German and Southern cuisines which combine surprisingly well. As before, the menu has small plates and bigger ones,...More

Food 3.8 Drinks 3.5 Service 4 Atmosphere 4 I've been interested to visit this place for a while and finally made it. The menu is relatively small but the dishes I had were good. It's southern/American food with a slight German twist. Priced modestly. I'd...More

Met friends here for dinner on a Sunday night. The establishment was pretty quiet. Cool decor--beautiful tile work, nice use of color, exposed beams, casual vibe. Intriguing concept--a hybrid of traditional German and Southern food from the U.S. While we enjoyed what we got, some...More

Please don't go here thinking you are getting a modern play on German food. Have been to Germany, and to real German restaurants in the US. There's not a schnitzel on the menu, or a wurst plate, or crispy pork hocks on the menu at...More

Nice open space. Sort of community seating but tables are separated just enough. Really attentive and friendly service. Very brisk presentation of food after ordering. Interesting takes on dishes you think you know. Great artisanal accompaniments to the dishes. Smaller plates but not tiny. Great...More

Loved the german-american fusion that had all the delicious flavors of traditional german food with updated and balanced flavors. Top tier food without the stuffiness of a formal restaurant. Good value as well (for Chicago) and incredibly friendly service. Lively atmosphere but still quiet enough...More

Beautiful space, delicious food, great Bloody Mary, service was a bit slow but we managed. I ordered the carbonara dish which was great. Shareable portions.
