We love all the food we've tried at Edgewater Tacos....from the nachos, to the homemade fish tacos, al pastor pork burrito....seriously delicious and amazing quality ingredients. So difficult to pick a favorite, but the one item I just cannot pass up is the carne asada...torta sandwich. It is a mind-blower that will leave you wanting more! They really nail it with the perfect torta bun, quality ingredients. And deliciously seared steak (and no fat!!). OMG....so good.More

The steak and fish tacos are the best in the city. If you are in Chicago you have to try this place. Great food, great prices. The fish tacos are my sons favorite. Mine are the steak. Real Mexican food in the windy city

After a visit to the Green Mill, I had a hankering for some Mexican food. I had previously noticed this place in the neighborhood and decided it was worth the try. I wasn't disappointed. One of my favorites are Chili Rellenos, which are often a...disappointment. Edgewater had a special sign out for the CR's, and after some questions I thought they were worth the try. The Chili Rellenos are first-rate. Fresh chilis and wonderful cheese of the best quality. Also had a taco and it too was fresh, crispy, and tasted wonderful. Staff was friendly and attentive, as are most family-owned establishments. I look forward to future visits to try the extensive menu on offer.More

Stopped in for dinner last night after shopping at the game store down the street. Was not expecting the food to be as fantastic as it was. So good! I had a carnitas tostada that was to die for and a chicken tamale (also very...good) with a side of Mexican rice (perfectly seasoned). Husband had the ground beef chimichanga which he really enjoyed. Even more impressive than the food was the customer service the owner and her employees demonstrated. We arrived during a time when a private party (a meetup group) had reserved what little table space was available. The owner fixed us up with an ad hoc solution of a rolling cart to use as a table and sat us at a bench. Saved us from having to do takeout (which would have resulted in our food getting cold by the time we got back to our hotel). The owner chatted with us for awhile after our food arrived about how she got into the restaurant business and where the recipes used by the restaurant came from (her grandma). She brought us a complimentary basket of fresh hot churros and they were delish. Everyone dining or waiting for takeout was in such good spirits; the meetup group even invited us to share in their food and beverages. I think a big part of that friendly vibe is set by the restaurant staff and it just touches everyone who stops in to dine. This is a can't miss dining spot in Chicago. Definitely order the carnitas!More

As someone who has lived in Mexico and been hooked on solid tacos, I am so happy that Edgewater Tacos opened upon three blocks from our house. This is not trendy food, fancy food or pretentious food - this is solid, basic food that is...prepared not only well but with great love by the owner. Having gone now perhaps 20-25 times and gotten to know the owner a little bit, it is amazing how hard they work but with great cheer for all the customers and great pride in the food they deliver. If you want a basic taco that comes out reliably good, then come here. Nothing is perfect of course - would be amazing if they did hand-made tortillas (though that is a lot of work and the chef's time is better spent on making everything else that she does whereas she can purchase perfectly serviceable tortillas) and the pico de gallo is a bit flat, but these are mere quibbles with one of those go-to neighborhood restaurants that every neighborhood should have.More

This is a small place with fresh and delicious food. There is a small seating area (and seasonally, outdoor seating as well.) The service is friendly - it's counter service only. They seem to do a good takeout business, too.

Although the family behind Edgewater Tacos has roots in Edgewater, this new venture is a great option in Edgewater. After El Norte closed a few years back, nothing replaced the reliable taqueria at Bryn Mawr/Ridge and Broadway. Now it has, and just a few doors...north. Taco, Tortas, and Burritos are of course on the menu, but also salads, tostadas, dinners, and recently, Tamales. A lot of people are talking about the El Pastor, and the fish tacos, and they are great, but the use of marinated chicken thighs for the tacos, and burritos, are also a great choice. Edgewater Tacos offers great service with food prepared to order. A small dining area is available inside, as well as carry-out, delivery, and a small seating area outside in the summer months.More

We're very excited about this new place! The fish tacos are great! The portions are good for the price. The people are incredibly friendly and also held my cell phone for me when I forgot it there. I recommend ordering ahead. There are only about...6-8 stools at a bar for seating, so it's mostly take-out and delivery.More

Delicious and fairly priced EXCELLENT tacos. Their strengths are quality ingredients and artfully prepared proprietary sauces and marinades. It's a taco shop, but the food is prepared better than you could possibly imagine. What can I say? If you want tacos in that part of...Chicago, this is the place to go. The Owner/manager Patricia is lovely. The place is spotlessly clean and has amusing and authentic looking Day of the Dead decor- which gives the place a festive atmosphere. That is confirmed by the food- which is feast worthy. I'm going to go here every time I'm in the area.More

They opened up 2 weeks ago. I don't eat red meat on Monday so I did not expect to eat there today. As I walked past I saw the menu in the window. Last week I added fish to my Monday diet. They had fish...tacos on the menu. I also saw something I never had before, vegetarian taco salad. The decor has death heads and that is authentic Mexican. The extra name under the big name is Dia del Taco. Based on the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead. I was then excited. I spoke to the lady behind the counter, Patricia. My name is Patrick so she gets one point for that. I have several points that I judge restaurants on. They serve good regular coffee, as I like it. Patricia had such a sunny smile that it made me smile. I ordered the taco and taco salad. The fish taco was better than some that I have paid twice as much for. She was so generous eith the fish that I had to eat some before I could fold it. The vegetarian taco wasfine for no even having meat. It stood on it's own as worthy. They do not have room for tables so counters along the wall is the seating. It is the only down part for me bur the price kind of makes up for it.More
