Eight of us booked the Savarin Room so we could enjoy our company together without bothering other diners in the main room. We recommend this highly. We ordered off the regular menu, though the restaurant will prepare a special menu if you prefer. We shared...a variety of dishes and we all loved the food and drinks. The service was friendly and near perfection. We will certainly return for our next catch-up dinner.More

AMAZING DINNER! The restaurant is beautiful. We were greeted by Phillipe, who knew we were celebrating a birthday. He was knowledgeable, making recommendations on food and wine. The food was fabulous. Between the two of us, we enjoyed......Amuse Bouche, Lobster Bisque, Mushroom Soup, Escargot, Pommes...Frittes, Penne con Funghi (with extra Shaved Black Truffles, a special Lobster & Crab Ravioli and a wonderful bottle of wine. For birthday dessert we had Opera Cake (with a candle) and a delicious Tawny Port. This is a special dinner and truly worth every penny!! We will be back next time we travel to Chicago!!!More

Absolutely incredibly from the service to the food and definitely the atmosphere! After a long week and a day of travel, the Champagne Cave was the perfect spot for sips and nibbles. Our hostess Natalie made us instantly feel like treasured regulars and her recommendations...were spot on. The escargot and shrimp jovan are delicious especially with the hot fresh bread with herb butter. Simply delightful. We will definitely be back.More

Ok, this place is eye candy for sure. It looks like a little place on the Left Bank. The var is beautiful too. The food is good, not GREAT. But very good..you will get a great meal here. I think the next time I go,...it would be for a nice bottle of Champagne or an Aperol Spritz int he afternoon. It is a lovely place and the chef actually comes out of the kitchen to be sure you are enjoying your meal. Covid protocol is great!More

I went with work friends to this lovely restaurant and went back two days later with my husband. What was formerly Crofton on Wells has been transformed by executive chef Didier Durand (formerly of Cyrano’s Bistro on Wells) - lovingly transformed into a lovely dining...experience. Chef Durand has put together a tasty menu with more items to select when I return! Escargot is amazing, as is the black truffle risotto. Lamb is a favorite and I can’t wait to go back and sample SO many other items. This is a nice place to eat at the bar (bartender and expert wine and spirits aficionado David) will guide you through the exact bd rage to pair with your meal. GO - and enjoy this great restaurant.More

Dined with a foodie friend on the recommendation of another friend. Post birthday celebration, so not in a hurry, but service was slow, slowing as the meal went on. In spite that, the staff were friendly and made it right at the end of the...meal. The food was excellent and the wine list has some interesting options. Overall vibe was upper east side new york and mostly not too loud for conversation (a nice change from too many places these days). I'll try this again.More

I dined here last week and have been telling people about my experience ever since. We had gone to Marchesa a couple of years ago but now heard that Chef Durand, formerly of Cyrano's was in the kitchen. The food was wonderful! We started out...with a truly excellent octopus, the tentacle was very large but had a terrific seasoning on it and was perfectly cooked. We next had the Ahi Tuna, once again, like it should be - just seared on the outside. However, the tuna was placed with the most wonderful mushroom medley I have had in a long time accompanied by potatoes and peppers. It was sublime!! The service is the on the spot, extremely professional and very friendly. The wine list has some very interesting bottles not found too often in other restaurants. I highly recommend Marchesa when looking for a sophisticated yet very French restaurant in Chicago.More

Dined here with friends. The premises are lovely and the food and service (Daniel) were very good. The menu is French, but not overly so. Cocktails here, unlike many new restaurants, do not stinge on alcohol. Wine by the glass offerings were good pours and...nice choices. Prices, for the high quality, seemed quite fair. This is definitely a place to which we will return,More

Dined here this summer after reading glowing reviews on Open Table. We had a table for four of us, and were seated right away, noting a few empty tables around us. The restaurant is beautiful, the artwork and ambiance are lovely. We were excited about...our evening. However, as soon as our absent-minded waiter arrived, the magic of the evening dwindled. He was not attentive, we had to beg him to take our orders. The cocktails we ordered tasted like rubbing alcohol. The waiter managed to bring us bread while we waited on our appetisers, which took what seemed like ages to arrive. Escargot - overcooked and under seasoned. Meanwhile, a woman at the table next to us sent back her entree and mentioned it was "ice cold." The table had been waiting for their entree since before we had been seated. Now it was our turn to wait decades for our entree to arrive. While waiting, we flagged down the maitre d to bring us more bread because our waiter was never in sight. Once the entrees arrived, I noticed how undelightful my steak was and how embarrassed I was that I had been the one to suggest this restaurant for our girls-night-out evening. Will not return. Don't trust the "glowing" reviews on OpenTable because I am certain we were not the only ones with horrible experiences at this restaurant that evening.More

First time here and had a wonderful experience. The place is beautiful Great date place. We sat at the bar and had several appetizers and drinks. The bartender David was wonderful and recommended several things we tried. Excargot, Beets, Cheese plate and Shrimp Javon. Could...not of been more pleasantly surprised. But, even if the food was not good. The atmosphere is so charming I would not mine. Try it!More

The warm bread was served with compound butter made with rosemary, lemon, and (I think) tarragon. We started with the foie gras with apples, which melted in our mouths. Our server, Philippe, recommended a glass of Sauterne to pair with the foie gras, which was...a very nice pairing. My husband had the lobster bisque, which he devoured. We shared a bottle of Sancerre with our entrées. I had the Dover Sole, which was cooked perfectly, but was not the best Dove Sole I've had. My husband had the Duck, which he loved. For dessert, we shared the chocolate pot de creme, which was served in a large ramekin (the biggest pot de creme I've ever seen). We also shared the warm apple tart, which was good (not too sugary, nice and warm). Servers were very attentive - refilling wine and removing dishes very swiftly. We were not rushed at all, which I love.More

I met up with an old friend and having researched Marchesa, I was pretty excited. Not sure what to think afterwards. It was quite an odd night. When we arrived, we were 30 minutes early but they were wonderful about seating us-even giving us a...choice of sitting near the windows or by the fireplace. As it was November in Chicago, we sat by the fireplace-which was lovely. Catching up, we had not had a chance to check the menus at all. The waiter kept coming back though and checking in to se if we were ready to order. Not intrusive at all-subtle and non intrusive. Finally got to cocktails...and after bit of a wait (the place was almost empty) my martini came on the rocks. that was bit odd. We shared the steak tartare which was really unique-diced instead of ground. Yummy. For mains, my friend had the babette and I had the duck. Both were quite average and my duck quite undercooked and tough. I tried to get glasses of wine with our dinner and after waiting for a while, we had to ask-3 times to 3 different team members for the wine. They had to 'go get someone' or check with someone. I almost just walked up to the bar. It broke the ambiance of the night but was so odd it was comical. Once when I had our waiter over, I asked him to stand on my other side as I was hard of hearing. He just kept saying of course. No problem. I finally had to point and say "can... you ... please...stand...over...hear...as...I...am...hard...of ...hearing" Really odd... Not sure I would go back-probably considering the other great reviews. We just didn't see it that night.More

This was such a wonderful first night dinner in Chicago for me, the room is elegant and comfortable, we were warmly greeted and seated away from a large table of business ppl. The service was attentive and helpful. The menu was comprehensive though not too...long. I had a salad to start and then the hanger steak it was fabulous. My friend had the local fish and also was very happy. Wines by the glass are available and also a good range. I would recommend, and be happy to go back.More
