We had so much fun at SafeHouse! My 9 year old and I went for lunch on a Saturday. We had early reservations (11:00 AM) and we got right in. It was definitely starting to fill up by noon. We both enjoyed our food, but...the kids’ meals are a flat $20 which seemed a little steep. The environment is super fun! We’ve never been anywhere like it. It wasn’t too cheesy or corny for my 9yo. When we made reservations we got on the email list and got a free birthday dessert which was a nice bonus! Our waiter was wonderful and stayed true to the theme the whole time. Very fun and worth a stop if you’re traveling with kids.More

If you are in for a long night of waiting and sub par food - THIS IS YOUR PLACE - sat for 1-1/2 hours - apps came in 20 minutes - and the spy thing takes 20 minutes - the next hour and 10 minutes...- watching kids run around and mindlessly wonder around. We waited 30 minutes to speak to a manager, who walked by our table repeatedly and continued to ignore us. The staff was well aware that it was my sons’s birthday and still NADA - please - Chicago is an amazing city with so many fun things to do (I was born and raised here) but this place is NOT somewhere u need to go - EVER! Oh and I’m here on a Monday - and then I waited 30 minutes just to pay for crappy food - and it was MY SONS BIRTHDAY!More

Just totally a fun experience! From the red door entrance to the small ante room where, if you don't know the password, you have to mimic the host by doing a few fun acrobats before he lets you down the stairs to the main restaurant....From the time we walked in we had fun. The spy theme is kept up the whole time, with you writing your spy name on your name tag (save it because when you leave you can add it to the name tag wall on your way out), having to find the password (when you find it don't share it), and getting a chance to walk around to see all the fun memorabilia. Yes, the food is a little pricey for salads and burgers BUT it's worth it....consider the atmosphere and experience. Can't wait to bring my kids back with us. Special shoutout to our awesome Agent FUNK who made the whole dining experience wonderful!More

From the minute you enter the restaurant it is an experience. I wont give anything away as its better as a surprise but it is a great restaurant to go to for some fun and a different kind of experience. Top quality service and great...food to match. It would be a lot of fun to come here for a kids birthday or bachelor/bachelorette party.More

Definitely would recommend. We visited on New Years Day with a reservation after trying a walk up on New Years Eve when they were full. The arrival experience was great and I won’t spoil any surprises you may have. The location and experience was great...and the kids loved it and so did we. The food was great too with huge portions in my opinion and overall I thought the price was worthwhile for food and the experience. The only reason I gave a 4 rather than 5 is we switched servers during the meal and the second server wasn’t as good and slightly elusive during our meal. We spent at least 2 hours here and would go backMore

We had a few hiccups, but each time, the staff went above & beyond to resolve issues and try to ensure we had a great evening. At the end of the day, we had a really good meal and a super fun evening. First, we...were seated late for our reservation due to other tables simply not leaving. After we were seated, the manager profusely apologized for the wait and offered us a free appetizer or dessert as an apology. Next, a large group next to us had to be re-seated due to an unexpected plumbing issue. The manager asked if we would be willing to be relocated to allow the large group to remain together. We didn't mind and the manager then "upgraded" his offer to 50% off our entire bill. Third, our daughter's burger came out incorrectly. At first, she didn't want to cause an issue and turned down the offer to have it re-made. Then, she quickly changed her mind and told the waitress. We waited, and waited, and waited. The waitress came back after a long while and noted that after all that, she still hadn't touched her burger! Turns out--the waitress didn't catch her request for a new burger. The waitress apologized profusely and rushed the order in. She then comped our drinks as an apology for the miscommunication. The restaurant is super fun and the whole experience is unique. The menu, while rather basic in its offerings, is very good and uses high-quality ingredients. The staff seems to really have a focus on good customer service. We'd definitely return...and keep our fingers crossed for a "smoother" overall experience the 2nd time around. :-)More

This is a place for people with kids. The idea is ok, but the food was just OK and the shoot your partner entry, follow the clues to leave was a P.I.A. The salad was good, and the sandwich was good but the fries had...to much salt.More

Entry to the SafeHouse is pretty cool! Very well done and fun! Once in the restaurant, there was a lot to see and do. There were several kid birthday parties going on so it was pretty loud. The food was ok. We had the pulled...pork sandwich which was huge and pretty tasty. The cheese curds were just ok. I would have rated it a little higher but for the service. The appetizer came with marinara sauce and would have preferred ranch but the server/bartender was pretty much absent. Other servers brought our food out, minus napkins or utensils. Had it go ask for it. It is definitely worth a visit but for the experience not the service. It is too bad because they really put a lot of effort into making the decor and experience fun to let a sluggish server/bartender spoil it.More

The concept is cute ... all spy-themed with an agent greeting you as you enter, adding to the exciting anticipation of what you will discover inside. Once indoors, there are spy-themed attractions to observe and interact with (fun for kids) and the servers were very...nice and kept in character (calling the bathroom the "urination station", asking for your "liquidation" order (drinks), etc ...). The fun ended there. The menu choices were fairly limited and along the lines of many of the well-known fast casual chains (Chili's, Friday's, etc ...). The difference was in the pricing. I kid you not, the kids menu items are all A FLAT $20!! The 'adult' food is basic to, in some cases, almost inedible at a price you'd expect at a more mid-range restaurant. The best thing though (and it was GOOD) were the cheese curds!! Fun to see once, but you're better off walking in, walking around, maybe stopping at the bar for a soda and going to a place like Grand Lux or CPK, where your food will actually look and taste decent for the price. Nothing justifies $20 kids meals!!!!More

VERY!!! atmosphere is very G rated, and the food will appeal to almost any teenager or young person. That said, some restaurants are not appropriate for strollers and infants.

I'd suggest turning up around 6. They may take a reservation for a party that size.
