We ordered a Chicago dog, a big beef with peppers and onion rings. We also got two fishbowls of Miller Lite for $7 and some change (beer prices in Chicago had been excessive, so this was a relief, and they had domestic!). I would say this is a must stop while in Chicago.

My daughter and I were told this was a must-visit place to eat so we were able to go our last day in Chicago. Not sure other than the atmosphere for fun what all the hoopla is about though. The hot dog toppings were nice and fresh, but the hot dog itself didn't rate that well for my taste. I... More

Very busy place, so busy that the staff don't seem to have time to be friendly, seems all about the dollar. Anyhow quite tasty.

Looking for a chance to try a real Chicago-style hot dog- or beef sandwich? Try Portillo's! - This chain does a very respectable job of providing both. The debate about the best provider in both categories won't usually include Portillo's but the locations are numerous, prices fair and little to no wait if you're willing to get out of your... More

I would rate Portillo's higher except my husband was frazzled with the experience--what line to you get in to order, where do you wait for the food--in general, just how does it work? Order and grab a table? (and try to hear your order number called amidst the hubbub or do you order and stay nearby and hope you can... More

The wife and I ate at Portillo's pretty late in the evening. It was close to 10:00PM. Caffeteria style dining. Admittedly, I'm on the hunt for Chicago's best Italian Beef sandwich. Each visit to Chicago brings me one step closer. And, while I haven't had enough to fairly judge a winner, I will admit that Portillo's IB is juicy and... More

You can't go to Chicago without trying a Chicago style dog! Ketchup is a big no no if you're going to do it right, and pickles are a must.

Having once lived near Chicago I was familiar with Portillo's therefore I was thrilled when the restaurant came to Tampa. I live in Orlando and figure it is only a matter of time Portillo's moves up the I-4 corridor. This is must go to restaurant. I could name dozens of reasons but my favorite is the Italian beef sandwich. Have... More
