They know how to grind and slowly brew their magic beans. Get the coffee for here. The line to order is long, and you will wait 5 minutes for the perfect brew. But it is perfect.

Good spot to get away from the bustle. Coffee is very good, excellent brownies. Be aware that in summer the ice teas run out quickly!

In the neighborhood so thought we'd try Intelligentsia. Best coffee I've had in Chicago. Cake was supreme as well. Worth a stop.

My husband is quite a coffee snob, so we like to visit a few different coffee shops when we travel, and Intelligentsia was our favorite in Chicago. We ended up coming by a few times during our stay because we enjoyed it so much. The coffee is pricey, but worth it because of the variety of great quality coffees and... More

I'd heard the coffee was so smooth, I couldn't wait to sip it. Trying to follow my Chicago map, I walked over 4,000 steps from the hotel to discover my new favorite coffee. The next day, it was only 2,000 steps. The cappuccino was magical. A lovely design on the top and a star waiting to reward me at the... More

I visit 'Intelligentsia' every time I'm in Chicago; love to sit at the counter and talk to the baristas. I'm always eager to learn more about their bean selection and their roasting process. Unfortunately, both baristas were not engaging this visit, despite the fact that the shop was not particularly crowded. They still make a good latte, so I'll be... More

First off: this is hipster coffee, not Starbucks. It's expensive, and it takes a bit longer to make because cups are brewed individually. Don't expect a long list of creative flavored lattes. Know what you're getting. That said, if you're ok with spending $6 on a single-origin Ethiopian/Tanzanian/Guatemalan pour-over, you're in for a treat. This is seriously good coffee. It... More

Close to some great attractions, Intelligentsia is located amidst the city hustle...perfect for a coffee break and some really good coffees, I read that they were rated top 5 in America but coming from South Africa and spoilt with fabulous Coffee, theirs is good to compare!

They make great coffee, but still manage to work a lot of people through fairly quickly. Every cup made special - the pourovers are great, but obviously take a bit longer than drawing a cup of drip! My wife and I liked the baked goods - definitely a cut above. Pleasant place to start your day.
