We got lost on the way back from the Willis Tower and I am SO glad we did. We stumbled in (because it takes up almost a whole city block) and found the most gorgeous German restaurant! Authentic German items on the menu, beer steins filled to the brim with local beer and pretzels SO large they hang on hooks... More

Great place and authentic German Food. Beer choices were varied and good. Great for couples and families - service was good. A must visit if you are in the area.

We were in Chicago to watch our grandson run the Chicago marathon and while we were there decided to eat a Berghoff's I had eaten there years ago and decided it was time to return. There were 5 in our party so we made reservations and had no problem being seated without waiting. They still had Oktoberfest specials on the... More

The building is just gorgeous. I went for dinner on a Monday evening. It was early so they weren't too busy. I had the bacon wrapped pork chop and it was delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful. The roasted veggies and mashed potatoes were great. I especially liked the pumpernickel bread with butter. The only thing wrong with my... More

Food was traditionally decent. Beer offerings were good and you could get a flight. Service was mediocre. I love the atmosphere and would go back again but not with any expectations of good service from the bartender to the waiter we had.

My husband loves German food so we gave this restaurant a try for dinner while visiting Chicago. The restaurant is obviously a beloved Chicago restaurant. We visited late on a Saturday evening in October expecting an Oktoberfest experience. The food was average. The restaurant is large and spacious. The service was capable if not particularly friendly. My husband ordered the... More

We stopped in here for a beer our first night in Chicago. We had already planned to have sushi at Ara On for dinner, otherwise we would have scarfed down one of the pretzels we saw heading to nearby tables. We vowed we'd be back another day. Two days later we did just that and shared a pretzel and a... More

It has been a long time since my last visit to Berghoff''s and and was not disappointed! Had cheese curds for an appretizer which were very good. I had the sauerbraten and my dining partner had the wiener schnitzel and both were excellent. For dessert I had the strudel and my companion had the black forest cake which were both... More

My boyfriend grew up with his dad bringing him to the city to visit Berghoff's. He loves this restaurant and all of the memories he has from his childhood. Having said that, he is now a vegetarian! But still loves all of the sides and beer he can still eat. Having lived in Germany for three years, I was very... More

The Berghoff Restaurant is a Chicago landmark, serving German-style cuisine and culture since 1898. One of the oldest family-run businesses in the nation, it is now run by fourth generation, Pete Berghoff. At today's Berghoff, menus have evolved to add newer, lighter and more contemporary dishes, but it's still the same old Berghoff, down to the famous root beer. Open for lunch and dinner, the Berghoff's wide variety of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and entrées is sure to satisfy everyone in your party. With fresh ingredients, seasonal menus and vegetarian & gluten-free dishes, it's "tradition with a twist!" Private Dining provides a truly unique event experience within the setting of the historic Berghoff building. Host your next event in one of our four private rooms.
