We took my mom for her birthday (two months late) after a terrible experience at the Hibachi restaurant in Forsyth, IL that resulted in her not getting to stay and eat there. Our experience here was amazing! The restaurant was very clean, the staff was...friendly, organized, and attentive. Our Hibachi chef was fantastic - engaging, fun, and made us an excellent dinner. Huge portions!More

Disappointing experience. Asked for extra pickled ginger for my specialty roll, the hostess reassured me that an extra serving was already placed in the bag. Of course at home 15 minutes later I learned this was not the case. My scallops were tough like rubber....I couldn’t even chew them. After attempting to eat 2 scallops I just threw the meal out, I don’t think I’ll visit again, the meal was not worth the $50 I spent.More

Late night arrival in Champaign, IL after a long day of driving delayed by road construction and accidents. It was appreciated to be able to find a restaurant open late (8:30 arrival). It was somewhat crowded, a good sign during Covid times. The staff was...fully masked and considerate. The service was very fast and excellent. We ordered their special margarita drink: good. Our appetizers were hot & sour soup, Thai coconut soup (the best) and duck spring rolls (excellent). The main course was two very good sushi rolls. Highly recommend this outstanding restaurant in a sea of chains!More

Being Asian, we didn’t expect much from hibachi (teppan) in Champaign. Overall food was fine, hibachi experience is fun if you don’t expect Tanaka of Tokyo. Prices are reasonable. Sit back and enjoy.

I went here with a group of people and we got hibachi. Some of us got steak and others got chicken. The hibachi guy made big fire on grill. Also when the big fire was extinguished he squirted water on us to cool us down....But he didn’t do this with a normal squirt bottle. He did it with a squirt bottle shaped like a boy that was peeing. So basically it was Mr. Hibachi was squirting pee on us but I didn’t care because it cooled me down. I thought this was cool because a lot of times you go to oriental restaurants they don’t have a sense of humor. You should go here if you like hibachi and like oriental people who are funny.More

If you want a Japanese meal, this is not the place for you. It claims to be Japanese, but it is actually Chinese/Korean. The service was good but the atmosphere was pretty flashy and gaudy.

Popped in for some sushi because it was close, I didn't have much time, and I was having a craving. Ordered sushi, some appetizers, and the like -- all in all ... the sushi was ok. I thought it was better in Danville, IL. The...Vietnamese Summer Rolls were nothing of the sort and some sort of weird concoction with mango all over it - good luck on finding the shrimp. The staff started turning off the lights and the music a half hour before close signaling they wanted us all to get the hell out. I won't be rushing back, unfortunately. Had higher hopes.More

Food is average and not as fresh as Golden Harbor. Many items tend to be on the salty side for me and my friends who are real Asians. The customers tend to be Americans so that is not an issue for them. Green tea is...not from Japanese but China. Chinese green tea does not have the same quality as Japanese green tea.More

We wanted something a little different this year so we hosted our children and grandchildren at Oishi for Thanksgiving Saturday Lunch. It was a nice change for our Chicago boys who had already done the traditional dinner on Thursday. They like fine dining and something...a little different. Our young grandchildren however were a little thrown by it as it was a new experience for them. We got to see the grill used near us but I guess we didn’t have enough grill food for them to cook in front of us. ☹️ The food was delicious, high quality and plentiful. Such fun watching my son help his nephews order and then teach them how to use chop sticks. So much food that we had plenty of take out containers. Everything was delightful from beginning to end.More

Came here with family. None of us arrived at the same time so perhaps that was the reason we didn't get the opportunity to place an order for almost an hour after arriving. Waitstaff was slow with drinks and refills too and that really irks...me. Once we got our order in and the chef came over to do his thing, it was better. The chef was great. He kept us all entertained and the food was cooked to each person's order. Food was very good. The only other complaint I have is that the ladies room was horrible. It was filthy and there were paper towels every where. Perhaps it was an off night for them, but we shelled out $200 for dinner. I'd at least expect a clean restroom. I don't know if this would be my first choice to dine the next time I'm in Champagne.More

If you are going out with a group of 4-6 people this nice teppanyaki-style restaurant is fun. The food quality (mainly beef sirloin and filet, lobster tail, meh) isn't top of the line, however the prices are also rather moderate. Don't look when the teppanyaki...chef prepares the fried rice. That doesn't look enticing what he puts in there, besides the egg. Service is fine, the show component which is so much part of this type of eating experience is uninspired. Try it out, your mileage may vary.More

We are fairly regular customers at Oishi. It's our "go to" place in Champaign/Urbana for sushi, sashimi, and hibachi. For the most part, the service is pretty good, but you can plan on double the time to eat at a hibachi grill versus a table....Our favorites include the hot and sour soup, and the Oishi sashimi adventure. We found that if you arrive at between 4-5 in the afternoon you can usually get right in, but in the evenings you can pretty much expect to wait at least 30 minutes.More

Had lunch here yesterday and really enjoyed. The seaweed salad was crisp and tasty and the shrimp tempura was wonderful. Reasonably priced and would definitely go back. Only negative is they need more help, waited to be seated because no one was at front desk.

Ko Fusion was booked so we went to Oisha, and it was ok , not great. We could tell that this was just ok kind of like fast food asian food. The sushi was just so-so, We did not get ponzu sauce . The service...was quick and friendly. They did not have flavored tea or flavored green tea. I would go back there for a quick and easy meal for myself , knowing what to expect.More
