I love this restaurant and the menu! My food was very good, the service was great and my margarita was perfect! Its a nice casual atmosphere but also very classy. It's a restaurant that I have been to many times and have never been dissapppointed....Perfect for families, friends or a date.More
Food is good. Music is great. Carlyle is a small town but this place could could be in any big city and do well. It is well worth the drive from St. Louis.
This restaurant is great for a nice dinner, yet the back room area is more recreational - like a sports bar, etc. Then there's an outside area that is covered/enclosed where they have live music, sand volleyball courts, a pond/water feature with fish and a...walkover bridge with fishfood that the kids can throw down into the water. I found it very interesting and wished we could have stayed longer to listen to the music and have a drink. As it was, our dinner was pretty great ... I had a salad that was quite tasty, as salads go, and hubby had the pork chop dinner that he raved about! It was reasonably priced, and our service was good.More
We took a Sunday drive, ended up in Carlyle, Il, and thought this would be a nice place for a drink and to listen to some live music. We decided to eat dinner here, as well, and we're glad we did. Salad, steak and potato-...a perfect meal prepared just the way we like it. Staff was friendly, too.More
They have many things going on here. Whether u go to eat, sit out and drink with enjoying a band, attend their bike night or event to attend a wedding, this place is a great venue for a multitude of activities
Had to wait several minutes for a table, and it turned out to be not worth the wait. Food was just so-so. Very grotesque being surrounded by decapitated animal carcasses!
Nice food and friendly staff. Very nice home made wine at just 6 dollars a bottle! Nice setting too with plenty of parking.
Food was good. Service was good. Came here after reading TA reviews because we had driven by and didn’t realize this was even a restaurant (signage says lodge and winery). Hardly anybody else in the place in early afternoon. Interesting wildlife decor and tiki-ish looking...bar. Catfish sandwich was lightly fried, and far preferable to fish at some other places with heavier fried taste. Salads were fine. Good overall, just wasn’t all that.More
The name is a little deceiving. The wildlife is all dead and hanging on the walls, lol The food and service is good but be wary as during the holiday season, call ahead, as they may be closed to the walk in public while engaged...in special reservation only functions.More
The pork steak is so tender you can cut it with a fork! Excellent food, great wine and music on the weekends!!!
Wanted a sit down dinner and this was close to our hotel and had Ok reviews so stopped in at 8PM on a Sat nite. Looks nice from the outside, but disappointed on the inside. I understand their fascination with African wild animals, I was...mesmerized too by the wild animals on my the East African safari. Their restaurant is loaded w/ stuffed African wild animal heads and in 2018, I find that offensive. Looking past that, their "table clothes" are thick plastic, the chairs are cheap meeting room chairs, their menus are sealed in peeling plastic. Our server was very pleasant but when asked what beers were on tap, she struggled and left a bunch off their list that's on the far wall. If we would have known all that was available, we would have ordered one. My honey ordered their all you can eat fried chicken which he said was average. Their mashed potatoes left the skins on which was nice. I ordered the grilled pork chop w/ sauteed zucchini & squash. Both meals came w/ a salad. Salad was average, nothing exceptional. My chop was so overcooked a sharp steak knife couldn't cut thru it and it was bone dry. When I brought this up to our server, she asked if I would like another -uhhh duh! When I said yes she then asked if she could use the fork I was using to remove the chop from my plate! What??! The zucc & squash was a bit over cooked and boring with no spices other than salt. The replacement chop arrived in 5 or so minutes and was excellent, tender & juicy but quite a bit smaller than the first one. Overall the meal was just OK but the price was right.More
Nice close resturant to go to with friends, family, or for date night. Food is good I recommend the bourbon salmon they have on Friday and Saturday nights. Potatoes are huge. Wine and drinks are great. There usually is always a band of some sort...playing in back if you want to stick around and listen to some music on the weekends. Only down fall is sometimes the service is slow especially with drinks but over good.More
We are camping at the nearby Carlyle Lake Dam West campground. This restaurant is very close by. My husband went to dinner with another couple and their son because it was pouring rain - hard to cook outside! The restaurant had a good crowd. The...adults ordered ribs, sweet potato fries, and salads along with a hamburger for the son. He said they had a young female server who was very nice and the food was very good. The only disappointing part was like the last reviewer mentioned, flies inside the restaurant! The bill was reasonable and he said he would go again.More
Between the flies and sticky tablecloths, chairs and menus, the food is consumable. The atmosphere is mostly dead animal on the wall, showing the previous owner enjoyed killing helpless animals and then nailing them to the wall. If you can past this, you may enjoy...the the rest of the restaurant. Breakfast is a 4, but service is consists of the initial order, delivery and....check. Try to sit where you are not in the corner or along the wall. You will be lost. Can be noisy in the front area where the bar is. Try to get the back dining room IF it's open.More
