It's not the best according to a local newspaper survey, but we think First Wok is the best Chinese restaurant in Bloomington because the food is consistently good, it's always ready in under 20 minutes, and they don't skimp on the portions or the meat. They're also the only one in town to get the egg foo young gravy right, and their General Tso's chicken is terrific. What's more, if you know that Chinese food in America is really Americanized Chinese food (with a lot of it deep fried), this place has a "secret' Chinese menu that's in Chinese only that even non-Chinese can order from to try new things.

This is not the best Chinese food in town, it isn't awlful either, but out of all lof the Chinese restaurants I have tried in town this one has the best egg foyoung. It is the only edible egg foyoung in town.

My daughter and I stopped earlier this week and picked up dinner.
I had the Sesame Chicken, and my daughter had the beef with broccoli.
Both were cooked fresh, and packaged well. No Leaks!

Will never go here again. The food is below average. They also forgot part of my order. When I called they said they were sure they put it in there, essentially calling me a liar. I told them they did not and I'd like it delivered since I couldn't come back. They wouldn't do it and told me I could either come back and get another one or they'd give me $1 credit. I told her the item was $2.35 + tax. She didn't care. I could either come back or just get a dollar. I asked if she thought that was appropriate customer service and she thought it was. I asked to talk to someone above her and she said she's the co-owner. If this is appropriate customer service for them then I'm not interested and I'm passing on fair warning to other customers.

This is the second time I've ordered delivery from here and the second time I've found shards of BONE in my food. I tried again because it has a good local rating, but I don't know how. I'm never ordering from here again.

Portions are large (lots of meat and vegetables), plenty of rice provided, and great flavor. We've compared the sweet 'n' sour chicken, General Tso's chicken, and egg foo young in all the Chinese eateries in B-N and we prefer First Wok, no contest.

Definitely tastes homemade which is a plus...I'm not sure they were rice noodles because instead of thin they were like regular pasta....but I liked them very much for the flavor and extra ingredients. The Moo Goo Gai Pan was just Ok and had cucumbers instead of zucchini and the taste was bland.

Everything I ever order from there is great. It is authentic and delicious. The delivery fee is only a dollar if you are not too far. Also, you get free stuff (such as crab rangoon) after spending at least $10! I won't eat Chinese anywhere else.

This is a great place to order warm American-style Chinese food on a cold day. We like the shrimp friend rice, egg foo yung, orange chicken, Mongolian beef. The restaurant eating area is not that fancy, but it is a fine place to wait while your food is being cooked to order. The restaurant also delivers. The staff is always helpful. Some of the cooks mainly speak Chinese, but there's always someone answering the phones and at the front desk that speaks English very well. This is across from Kroger's and Illinois Wesleyan. It's a neighborhood place that has thrived for years.

This restaurant was very disappointing. I ordered what I order at every Chinese restaurant- Mild General Tso Chicken. Instead of using the regular sauce and just not making it as spicy they used barbeque sauce. Everyone else that didn't have a "special" request was pleased with their food.

I love the food at First Wok. As a self-proclaimed Chinese food junkie, I have sampled food from each Chinese restaurant in Bloomington-Normal. First Wok is located near Illinois Wesleyan Univeristy, across from the Kroeger store. They have never once made a mistake with our order and are happy to accommodate special requests such as no oil, extra sauce, etc. The friendly, all-male staff are fast workers behind the counter. I highly recommend their lo mein and General's Chicken. Sauces are consistent no matter who does the cooking back there.

I know, I know not much to look at. In fact when you pull up you may not want to go in. Resist that instinct. People are friendly. Service is fast. Food is delicious and you get a lot for your money. General Tso's chicken is their specialty and it is great. Sesame chicken also very good. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
