Please encourage the Sun Valley Lodge to continue this sweet high tea tradition. Like The Greenbrier and many other wonderful 5 star resorts high tea is a lovely and refined way to spend the afternoon chatting (with out phones and screens!) with you family and friends. On December 23rd, my daughter and I enjoyed High Tea at the Sun Valley... More

Four adults and three children came for lunch. The restaurant appeared to be understaffed. The $18 prawn salad was not a salad at all. It was prawns arranged a plate with pieces of avocado, grapefruit and radish around it. When we asked the waiter about it, he chastised us for ordering an appetizer as an entree. By name, it is... Admittedly, our visit was marred by broken heating that left us chilled plus booth seating that looked into kitchen door activity. We were not comfortable. Still, the food was good: kale, quinoa, beer salad; homemade pasta. The price of entrees (25-35) didn't seem to match decor and atmosphere, which was decidedly more casual.

We were disappointed to learn that the historic Sun Valley Lodge's "Lodge restaurant" had closed on our recent visit. However, we were wowed by our recent dinner at Gretchen's, now the Lodge's main dining option. Ours was nothing less than a world class culinary experience. We shard the extraordinary Dungeness crab appetizer, but what followed blew us away!!! This fabulous... More

If you don't want to go to the village or into town get breakfast here. The prices are exactly what you would expect for a hotel resort property-pricey. Egg whites, toast, fruit, & latte with tip $28. It was good. Service was great.

Rainy day in town today so we decided to go to a 'special' lunch. After checking reviews, we chose Gretchen's and made reservations on OpenTable, requesting a window table. Although they had several large groups for lunch, our table was ready and by the window (french doors). Two of us ordered the wild-caught prawns, one order of BBQ chicken sandwich... More

While staying at the Sun Valley Lodge we had a couple of breakfasts and lunches at Gretchen's. The food is really good, but the wait time to get it can be very long. The hotel was close to 100% capacity while we were there, so they probably didn't have the manpower in the kitchen to handle the amount of guests... More

I was staying at the Resort last week and ate 3 meals at Gretchen's. The only meal that came out timely was the meal by the pool. The breakfast I ate there was good ( lox and bagel ) but very expensive $22.00 with coffee and it took 30 minutes to appear. Pool meal was the best, quick, and tasty... More

Ordered the Caesar salad for lunch. It was a bit pricey for just being a salad but it was the best Caesar Salad I had ever had. The lemony garlic dressing was crisp and fresh but also creamy. Came very quickly and was a nice size portion also.

Food at Gretchen's was absolutely excellent. We came in at an In between lunch and dinner hour after flying into Sun Valley. They seemed to be a bit understaffed at that time, but it could have been due to the odd hour. But the quality and taste of the food certainly made up for it. Nice ambience too overlooking the...
