We had a great dinner at this cute bistro inside the High Country Inn. Come hungry because it is a prix fixe menu. Our waitress could not have been nicer and she handled 4 tables expertly. I had the buffalo tenderloin, starting with salad and potstickers, my wife had the arugula salad, which she raved about, followed by smoked pork... More

amazing gem in tiny Stanley - lovely setting with superb menu and wine list. All of the dishes were superbly fixed and presented - starting with the lobster bites for appetizer and the antelope (mmm..delic), bison, sea bass and lobster. There were no vegetarian dishes however the chef fixed vege tacos for 2 of our guests and accommodate GF for... More

My wife and I have been coming to Stanley each summer for eight years. Each year we eat at variety of places in town, but we always make sure to eat at the Back Country Bistro at least twice during out stay. It's simply superlative. Shane, the Chef, is simply a master craftsman. The meat, I had antelope, and buffalo,... More

This is one of the first negative reviews I have written for Trip Advisor. But I wanted to share an experience I had at this restaurant. I have stage four esophageal cancer which limits the amount of food I can eat at one sitting. We got seated (four of us) and I wanted just to order soup and salad. This... More

I always order the Chilean sea bass if it is on menu in many restaurants I've visited all over the country. This was the best. It was neither over or undercooked and seasoned to perfection. I'll be back again for it on my visit next year, so please don't change a thing !

I invited close friends and a business associate from New York to dinner at the Back Country Bistro recently. Having eaten there before, I knew the prices were very reasonable for outstanding food and presentation. As a sales rep. for a composite shower mfg. here in Idaho, my job is to form long standing relationships with our customers in the... More

The food and service was excellent and to find a meal in the tiny town of Stanley Idaho was an unexpected treat. I had the Lobster Tail and found it to have been as good as any i have ahd across the country.

I lived in and around the Sawtooth Valley and Wood River Valley for many years and have never experienced something like this. The atmosphere is very intimate and unique with live music and an amazing view. The service and staff were above and beyond, very personal, friendly, and prompt! As far as the food goes... I've never tasted anything like... More
