Found the Sandpiper by accident while passing through Pocatello in 2011, and had an exceptional dinner with family. Note to self, need to remember this place. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Fast forward to August 2016, back in Pocatello with friends and pleased to find the Sandpiper was every bit as good as I remembered. Enjoyed a relaxing dinner... More

The Sandpiper has a lot to offer and an excellent menu of terrific meals. Over the years my favorite has been the Ahi Tuna, but this time a filet was just what I needed. Ordered with their signature house salad, it is quite the meal. Most tasty with a nice bottle of wine with that special person you dine with.

I have eaten at the Sandpiper several times on business trips to Pocatello. I travel on a budget, but always try to have at least one meal at The Sandpiper because the food is so good.

My wife to took the farmed rainbow trout. Superb, wonderful, incredible There's only... More

We were able to get a reservation for an early dinner. The menu was eclectic for Idaho. The food portions were large and our order was prepared exactly as requested. The environment was pleasant and our server was particularly friendly. If we have reason to be back in Pocatello, we'd certainly return here.

I travel a lot for my work and like to try the local restaraunts, and this one is a MUST stop for anybody in Pocatello. After reading the reviews I had high expectations and was not disappointed. I ordered the Filet with the Jack Daneils peppercorn demi glaise. OMG! Cooked to perfection, with delicious mashed and grilled spears of asparagus.... More

Description
The first inkling of an idea for the Sandpiper Restaurants came to original founder Bob Angell as he lounged on the beaches of California. While attending college he enjoyed watching the sandpipers darting in and out of the surf, and after graduation Bob moved back home to Boise, Idaho, where he opened the first of many Sandpiper Restaurants in 1971. From its humble beginnings in Boise, the Sandpiper grew until there were locations in Oregon, Arizona, and a total of four in Idaho. After several owner and management changes, there are currently two locations still open in Idaho. The Idaho Falls location was opened in 1974 by Ron Obendorf, who is still the manager. The Pocatello location opened in 1975 and has been managed by Rod Russell since 1985. Rose Anne Voigt came on as a member of the management team in 1995. Always intended to be casual fine dining restaurants specializing in steaks, seafood and pastas, the Sandpiper Restaurants continue to enjoy great popularity. Our guests have consistently bestowed us with Best Restaurant, Best Steak and Seafood, Best Fine Dining, and Best Date Place awards. Both locations offer outside dining during the beautiful Idaho summer and fall, as well as facilities for larger gatherings.
