This was a trip that I will not easily forget. The restaurant that used to eat at is gone my prime rib was poorly trimmed and my wife's salmon small for the cost. I remember a place were the meal was wonderful and worth every penny but those days are gone.

As occasionally happens, the Trip Advisor rating for a restaurant don't measure up to reality. We were only passing through, but if the Sandpiper is the best restaurant in town, I can't imaging the quality of the others. There must be better here. The food was completely forgettable. Barely average steak and seafood fare in a tired facility that sees... More

Menu pricing and wording misleading relative to steak entrees which lead you to believe that only soup or salads are extra charges when in fact you pay extra for everything beyond the steak...like mushrooms, onions, choice of sauce. My tenderloin was not well trimmed resulting in a lot of sinew in a 5 oz piece.

Quick seating and service. So good I came back again the next evening. Discount from adjacent hotel didn't hurt either. Food good for the price.

Staff was friendly and service was good. Great place to get a steak or fish. Standard American fare. The mashed potatoes are good and so are the sauted mushrooms. The chicken was dry and over cooked. The fish was much better.

Stayed at Super 8 and it was raining so wanted something close. Told it was a good place to eat. We ordered an appetizer to share as well as one entree to share. It took forever for the appetizer to appear and before we could finish the entree showed up. The entree must have been ready about the same time... More

Recommended by the front desk staff at our hotel. Less than two minutes walk from the hotel, we arrived with out a reservation, but had no problem securing a table. It was our 43rd wedding anniversary so we were hoping for good food and good wine, we were not disappointed We had a trainee server and his shadow, service was... More

When I'm by myself, my first test of a restaurant is where they choose to seat a single woman (which is sometimes in a tiny table towards the back). But here I was taken to a nice table by a window. After taking my drink order, the server immediately offered to bring bread and a dipping sauce. This turned out... More

The first inkling of an idea for the Sandpiper Restaurants came to original founder Bob Angell as he lounged on the beaches of California. While attending college he enjoyed watching the sandpipers darting in and out of the surf, and after graduation Bob moved back home to Boise, Idaho, where he opened the first of many Sandpiper Restaurants in 1971. From its humble beginnings in Boise, the Sandpiper grew until there were locations in Oregon, Arizona, and a total of four in Idaho. After several owner and management changes, there are currently two locations still open in Idaho. The Idaho Falls location was opened in 1974 by Ron Obendorf, who is still the manager. The Pocatello location opened in 1975 and has been managed by Rod Russell since 1985. Rose Anne Voigt came on as a member of the management team in 1995. Always intended to be casual fine dining restaurants specializing in steaks, seafood and pastas, the Sandpiper Restaurants continue to enjoy great popularity. Our guests have consistently bestowed us with Best Restaurant, Best Steak and Seafood, Best Fine Dining, and Best Date Place awards. Both locations offer outside dining during the beautiful Idaho summer and fall, as well as facilities for larger gatherings.
