Recently ate here with a very large group and we had reserved our own room. It is often hard for a restaurant to accommodate such a large group and make everyone happy, but they did just that. Our meal was served family style and we had a wide variety - platters of chicken parm, manicotti, salads, then many large pizzas... More

It is always sad when a restaurant you have been going to since they were in Boise and Sun Valley lets you down in a most epic way. With a party of 12 celebrating a birthday, we went to Louie's. During the salad course my wife stopped suddenly and believed she may have bit down on glass. It actually cut... More

I appreciate your concern and understand your frustration. I do believe that a different approach would have been appropriate for this situation. A discount should have been applied and we should have made your group aware of our protocol in these situations. Please rest assured that the product was pulled from production and was immediately discarded. All logs were checked... More

Had heard this restaurant was so good, so we decided to try it. It has a nice atmosphere and good waitress. The salad was fresh and delicious. The garlic bread was good, but not exceptional. We ordered 2 entrees. A chicken, cashew, and gorgonzola dish with fettuccine and a grilled chicken dish with angel hair pasta and marinara sauce. The... More

We have been going to Louie's for years and really miss the Boise location which was much closer to our home. The lasagna is delicious, as is anything on their menu that contains Italian sausage. They have great garlic bread and I recommend the sun-dried tomato vinaigrette salad dressing. I know that many will disagree, but Louie's is our favorite... More

I love the food at Louie's and was anxious to try brunch. I was going to invite friends so glad I didn't! Hot food was cold, cold food warm! French toast hard, cold inedible. Food that was available looked unappetizing. Wait staff seemed unhappy to be working! I can't express how disappointed I am. Evan, new cook on omelet bar... More

When we do Italian, this is where we do it in the Meridian, Idaho area. In addition to generous portions of good food, they also offer gluten free alternatives which is very important to members of our family. So, we can all sit down and enjoy a great Italian meal without any worries about our respective dietary requirements.

The restaurant is clean, pretty and has a fountain in the middle of the dining room. We had some great appetizers and good wine. The dinners were out of the question today but we certainly would recommend happy hour. The entrees we observed with others looked fabulous as well!

We have eaten there several times and always had a wonderful meal. There is a nice bar to sit in while waiting and the prices were ok for us retired folks. Will eat there again for son good Italian food.

Description
Louie's Restaurant was born out of necessity in 1965. It wasn't so much that Ketchum-Sun Valley needed another restaurant. Louie Mallane, the founder and proprietor, used his Italian heritage and previous restaurant experience to fill the pizza niche in this small resort area. Living the American dream of owning your own business Louie opened up Ketchum's first Italian Restaurant. With a bank loan of $150, he purchased flour, mushrooms, napkins, and a few other necessary items. Then he rented the kitchen of Nedder's Bar and set up shop, making as many as 20 pizzas a day. Within six weeks, Louie had paid off his original loan. Six months later, he moved to expanded quarters in the Sawtooth Club. Louie was his own cook, and hired waitresses. The dining room sat 40 people, but the bar was soon expanded to the dining room. Two and one-half years later Louie's moved to a building which had been the first church in Ketchum. In the ensuing years it had also served as an espresso house and beer garden. After 35 wonderful years of business in the Ketchum-Sun Valley area Louie and his wife Margaret moved to Boise to be with their children and grandchildren. The people and the memories of the Ketchum restaurant have made such a positive impact on Louie and his family, but also touched the lives of many old employees and patrons as well. As the reputation for quality pizzas and Italian food grew Louie has always worked hard to give you, the customer, the best value for your dollar. Always experimenting with new recipes and using the freshest ingredients possible is the commitment Louie's is always giving to quality at a fair price.
