Stopped here for late lunch. Hungry for maki. $1 happy hour bites were very good. Could have the whole 12 item menu for $12, 24 pieces of maki. Don't know quality of other menu items, the Benny Hana grill, the noodle dishes, sashimi, sushi, etc. That said we throughly enjoyed a couple rolls and 5 items from the $1 menu. Not the fanciest but all the maki was between $8-13. Decent quality and good quality. Will definitely return to explore more of the full menu offerings. Good service and pleasant decor. Could be a pretty lively place for dinner. Good lunch crowd.

This has been a favorite place for years but this visit was disappointing. Although the sushi was nearly as delicious as always, the service was really lacking. People waking into the door were seated randomly without notice of who came first. Our server neglected to bring us the soup included with the meal until we asked for it and never really checked on us. The staff seems about 80% different from those who have been here and offered great service in the past. What used to be a pleasant ambiance was chaotic, crowded and noisy...a little odd when we are still in the COViD era. Every table was full, even the ones marked “no seating here” when we walked in. The tempanaki tables were open and rowdy. Children were running around, babies were screaming. We did not have the pleasant experience we have had in the past. We still like Sakura and hope it was a bad night...

Judging by how popular they are, we probably should have ordered sushi, too bad we were just in a "noodle soup" kind of mood. They do take COVID rules seriously, wearing face masks, socially distanced the tables. Got the yose nabe, it had good broth and was full of seafood: baby scallops, imitation crab, prawns. Not like udon, it is the "glass noodle". We liked this the best. It comes with a salad. Also got the beef donburi. That was a bit of a disappointment. Expected the Japanese restaurant to do beef well. It was a bit tough and lacked flavor. Did liked the Napa cabbage and egg that came with the rice bowl. This comes with miso soup. Service was very friendly, but our server was the owner that did multiple things: seating people, took orders, cashier. He didn't even check back, another young lady brought us the check. It is located just across the street from the Marriott Courtyard Hotel we were staying at, so it was nice to just walk over.

We were in town to try sushi on this trip. It wasn't bad by any means, but was lacking something. Seems to be a theme in Idaho where the fish was quite good, and very fresh and flavorful, but the rice was very plain and not 'sushi rice' which should be seasoned with vinegar and sugar. All in all though, not a bad experience. Very affordable which was nice.

We love Sakana. The sushi and sashimi for two is so much food and absolutely delicious. Sashimi portions are generous, perfectly chilled and mouth watering good. The pearl sake is a great match and service is perfectly attentive without being intrusive. It’s our go to dinner when passing through Meridian.

We went for dinner and that was our first time. We loved to try new places and experience diverse cuisines. I recommend you to go and try its menu. Gyoza is always my favorite appetizer and all spicy rolls.

Genuinely surprised by the high quality of the sushi here. Really outstanding- and a great value too. Nice ambiance and service from Hailey was top notch. This is one of the top 10 restaurants in town. And I’ve been to a lot of towns. Great job chefs. Very fresh sushi and rolls. Well done! Domo arigato gozaimashita

Finally found a good sushi place. Been living in the Boise area for 2 years and hadn’t found anything good and priced well. This place is it! Accommodating and friendly staff. We’re including this place as one of our regular places to dine at.

I would not recommend this restaurant because their fried rice has NO flavor and we had to pay $3.95. The chicken was overcooked and the shrimp had NO flavor.

The ambiance and service provided was VERY good--& are the ONLY reason I gave them 2 instead of just 1 star! We made hibachi dinner reservations for an early Father's Day celebration last weekend and our chef was friendly, but hard to understand with the mask on. The show was fun and entertaining; we shared a table with 2 other couples but the food left a LOT to be desired. The Miso soup tasted like salty bread, the salads were drowning in under-seasoned orange ginger dressing. The plum wine tasted too much like cough syrup and the Teriyaki chicken was also drowned in sauce with too much soy sauce--making it inedible. It was badly overcooked and had lots of fat in it. The steak was nice--but again--tough and they were out of the filet mignon. The flavor of the stir fried veggies was nice but the giant shards of broccoli were too hard to chew and they were undercooked while the smaller veggies were overcooked. We wound up spending over $100 with tip for 3 adults after only ordering dinner & drinks with no appetizers. For the amount of money we spent, we should've gotten a 5 star dinner but all 3 of us decided we'll never go there again--it's too bad--because we haven't found ANY Teppanyaki style restaurant in Boise or the surrounding areas that we like. They offered no sauces with their food, and their prices were exorbitant! OH...and did I mention the HUNDREDS of bugs crawling around the floor in the women's bathroom? I had to go home and wash my feet afterwards. Don't waste your time by going to this restaurant...

A surprisingly good find. Just didn’t think we’d enjoy such tasty sushi and tempura in a suburb of Boise, ID. Highly recommend.

Walked in and immediately had a weird vibe but went against our guts and stayed anyway. The place was dirty and the menus were sticky. They didn't have the grills going so we were sat a regular table. The waitress was friendly but the sushi was warm and our food was luke warm. Nothing tasted good to any of us (there were four of us). The atmosphere wasn't inviting at all. Just a different place. When we walked outside to leave, we noticed a snow shovel and ice melt sitting next to the door. It's August! Kind of tells you something about their work ethic. Won't ever go back!

Nice location with very good service. Food was rated average because the chicken was very chewy, a little too firm and a little crunchy. After all this is a chicken breast. Two of us had Teriyaki chicken and both of us tried and left chicken on our plates. According to the waitress the chicken is the #1 negative feedback on all the food they serve. Otherwise the Tempura, Sushi, Rice, Beef Teriyaki and Ftuit was good.
