We came to the restaurant and they told us we will wait 20-40 minutes, not more. We had our 19M old son with us so it was really important to know if he manages to stay or not. We were excited to we stayed. The first bad thing: They don't have a wifi! So we just played with him. However,... More

We had a very good meal in the downstairs room. In spite of the huge wait and Christmas week crowds, the staff was accommodating and managed to get our huge party (kids and adults) seated and fed. It was far too crowded to wait inside. Crazy. I'll try it again only if it is a quiet week in Ketchum.

This place has history in Ketchum and it's definitely unique. Very busy (loud, crowded) - even on a Sunday night in the off-season. It's a steak and potatoes kind of spot, they do have seafood too. Pricey, but tasty. For more travel adventures or adventures in cuisine, visit onthelooselive.com

We were told that waiting time is 45 minutes "absolutely worst case". After 45 min of waiting, a waiter came several times with "your table will be ready in couple minutes". After next 30 min, we asked some manager, what`s the problem and if we should stay or go away. He just answered "You can leave". While we were packing... More

Chairs are uncomfortable on top of having to exit to long in the bar before entering the actual restaurant. You can eat in the bar (full menu) but you have to still endured the hard seats.

This is a cute place, and apparently "the place to go" in Ketchum because there was a long wait. We called ahead and asked about reservations, but they don't take them. At 4:50 there was no wait, when we arrived at 5:30 the place was quite full. Actually we waited until essentially everyone else in the place was seated and... More

We dined at Pioneer Saloon after a very long day of traveling across the country. The management and staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The restaurant is exactly what you want -- it's the Pioneer Saloon after all -- complete with gorgeous interiors of Elk, Moose, bear and bison. Old prints show the history of the region... More

The staff at this place were amazing. Steaks were great, but I did not think the side dishes were all that spectacular. Good, not great.

The Pioneer Saloon has been doing it since the 40's. Food and service were excelent. I had the prime rib and would highly recommend it.

We went here at the suggestion of a long time local. He said that "if we haven't been to the Pioneer Saloon, we haven't been to Ketchum." Go early. It gets crowded quickly. The food is outstanding. You can see them grilling. The trout is delicious as are the steaks. Very friendly wait staff. Great place to people watch. It... More

For some The Pioneer Saloon is the first restaurant to head to when coming into town and the last place to go before leaving. For others, it's where they met their significant other, perhaps over a bar marg. The Pioneer Saloon, renowned for perfectly aged, tender and flavorful beef, is typical of an earlier Idaho where ore wagons rattled down Main Street and business was done with a handshake and a drink. Natural woods, mounted game, and period firearms help recreate an authentic saloon atmosphere.

Duffy and Sheila Witmer have been the sole owners of the Pioneer Saloon since 1986. Today, with their children, Alyson, Chloe and Dillon, they strive to honor a historical classic while bringing new ideas to Ketchum's restaurant scene.
