We enjoyed drinks in the crowded bar on a weeknight while waiting for our table - no reservations. The $12 Hemingway margaritas were refreshing, but quite light - couldn't taste the tequila. We had a quiet corner table in the downstairs dining room that was a little less atmospheric than the noisier main room with displays of various giant antlered... More

Enjoyed a really good meal here on a recent visit to Ketchum. Service was fast. Wine list was excellent! Everything was delicious.

I went in there tonight (Wednesday) and the waiting room and bar were full at 7:45pm. That pretty much says it all. This is a happening place with excellent food for the money compared to a lot of the other places in row. I had the prime rib, and it was outstanding!

awesome, just arrive early so you don't have to wait. If you have a small appetite, let your partner order the meat portion of the meal, and you order the potato and salad and share. Great deal

My boyfriend and I took a last minute trip to Ketchum for his birthday. We chose the Pioneer Saloon for his birthday dinner without regret! We sat at the bar and ordered Prime Rib and Filet Mignon. They were both delicious! The baked potatoes were TO DIE FOR. Yum! The bartenders were absolutely wonderful. We chatted with them all night... More

My husband and I recently had dinner and drinks at the Pioneer. The service was good but the food was great. My husband had the prime rib and I had the steak and both were very tasty and cooked the way we ordered. Be sure and split the great potato's as one is huge to eat alone.

Every time i visit Ketchum I have to visit this place. The food never disappoints. I almost always get the prime rib, it's so good I don't want to change and miss out on perfection! I ask for Jeff to wait on us but all the servers I've had are awesome. You have to try it!!!

This is a favorite for locals and visitors alike. They don't take reservations so sometimes a long wait in the bar- usually crowded but always warm. Some seating while you wait or just standing and visit. The wait is worth it as the food is smazing. Definitely not fast food and not the cheapest meal in town, but you gotta... More

We came to the restaurant and they told us we will wait 20-40 minutes, not more. We had our 19M old son with us so it was really important to know if he manages to stay or not. We were excited to we stayed. The first bad thing: They don't have a wifi! So we just played with him. However,... More

We had a very good meal in the downstairs room. In spite of the huge wait and Christmas week crowds, the staff was accommodating and managed to get our huge party (kids and adults) seated and fed. It was far too crowded to wait inside. Crazy. I'll try it again only if it is a quiet week in Ketchum.

For some The Pioneer Saloon is the first restaurant to head to when coming into town and the last place to go before leaving. For others, it's where they met their significant other, perhaps over a bar marg. The Pioneer Saloon, renowned for perfectly aged, tender and flavorful beef, is typical of an earlier Idaho where ore wagons rattled down Main Street and business was done with a handshake and a drink. Natural woods, mounted game, and period firearms help recreate an authentic saloon atmosphere.

Duffy and Sheila Witmer have been the sole owners of the Pioneer Saloon since 1986. Today, with their children, Alyson, Chloe and Dillon, they strive to honor a historical classic while bringing new ideas to Ketchum's restaurant scene.
