Arrived for an early dinner. On entering restaurant pasted through the outdoor seating area which was fairly full. Sign inside said seat yourself anywhere. We took a nearby table. We were greeted by our server would gave us menus for food, drinks and deserts. Server was very friendly and told us a little bit about the history of the building,... More

I'm in Boise for the first time in my life. I stayed in a private home courtesy of Air BnB and my hostess took me downtown to Wednesday night after 5. We ended up in this fabulous establishment along with two of her friends. Both guys convinced me to try the stream trout with the boulaise sauce with capers and... More

They have their own still and it looks great in this old brick warehouse with the 100 foot long bar. The food is good and reasonably priced. Our waiter was very good. The place is huge so it might be slow if full. Not today though. Good choice on a warm summer evening. Try the gin and applies you won't... More

Bardenay is reliable. Not exciting, not flashy, not fantastic. Reliable. In Boise, reliable is high praise. Their nightly specials are often very good, but occasionally there are some clunkers. The menu is limited but what they offer is done well. If you're from out of town, head to Bardenay, sit at the bar when Sean is working behind the bar.... More

I absolutely love the food and atmosphere at Bardenay in downtown Boise! Their menu has great variety and the trout is my favorite. They also offer a Sunday brunch which is delightful. Definitely one of the best in Boise!

For being number 6 in the area of Boise, it was not very impressive--our waiter on the other hand was very sweet. I would say just a so so restaurant. My Ahi salad came with lettuce that had been frozen accidentally and I was shocked that the kitchen sent it out. Bread was stale that was on salad. Waiter was... More

We terribly regret this experience & will address it with the employees & purveyors responsible. So glad the server was kind yet a manager could have done more if alerted. The salad should have been remade with fresh product & possibly comped for the extra time to get it right. Again, very sorry & we too wish it had been... More

The cafe was a disappointment to us. We were seated outside and the bees were constantly buzzing us. The food was not very well prepared. My wife had the tuna salad and the salad was wilted and wet almost as if it had been in the freezer. The sandwich I had was okay, however, the bacon was old and over... More

I ordered the trout and was expecting a tiny fish and to my surprise it was a Hugh filet with capers and a wonderful sauce mashed potatoes and fresh veggies . It was so much food I took some home and ate it for lunch !!!

Friends and I went here for dinner on a retreat weekend. We sat out on the patio. It was a great way to end the day. The food was very good. The portions were large and the prices were reasonable. We will go back.

Description
Established in 1999. With three locations in Boise, Eagle and Coeur d'Alene that capture the spirit of Idaho and the Northwest, Bardenay Restaurant and Distillery is a cornerstone of Idaho's restaurant and bar industry. The original establishment is located in a once empty warehouse on the Historic Basque Block in downtown Boise, Idaho. On April 25th, 2000, history was made when we served the first cocktail to included spirits distilled in a restaurant in the US. As the nation's first restaurant distillery, Bardenay has set an industry precedent as the first full service restaurant and bar with the ability to create handcrafted liquor on-site. Our distillers are happy to give tours as time allows. Please ask your server if you are interested in a closer look at our operations. p.s. We are only allowed to sell our fine spirits by the drink. If you would like to purchase a bottle, you may do so at many of our state liquor stores.
