I love sushi but I am struggling to find a good place in Boise. My friend has recommended to visit this restaurant for lunch. It is his favorite. We had shirashi sushi each , which was ok but kind of sloppy looking. My test is usually a rainbow roll which gives you a flavor of various fish and the rice.... More

If you like good sushi and you are in or near Boise, this is THE place to go. Great service and sitting at the sushi bar provides "entertainment." The staff is uniformly friendly and well trained. Shige, the owner, is a great host! My wife and I both love the poke and my favorite dinner is a hand roll combo... More

We went to Shige based on proximity and Trip Advisor ratings. We were told to seat ourselves, and about 5min later our waiter arrived with menus. It took about 30min to get our miso soup and salad (which was coleslaw). It took 10min after the third time they asked for the couple next to us to get forks. The chicken... More

We called a few days ahead of time for some traditional Japanese delicacies for my mom's 81st birthday dinner at Shige's. He did an Omekase, chef's choice dinner. It was lovely. Very traditional, reasonably priced and fun. We couldn't have asked for anything better. Shige certainly went out of his way to make her dinner special.

The food all seemed fresh and it was very convenient to walk from hotels in downtown Boise. Our service was excellent as well.

It has been a while since having sushi and sashimi at Shige's. Going on Tuesday evening was a treat, because the restaurant was not busy like on a Friday or Saturday. All the sushi was made to order (excellent, by the way). Then we ordered a "boat" with chicken, shrimp and steak. The steak was a little tough, hard to... More

I enjoyed the Sushi and the preparation of the sushi and the traditional methods they use. Great Japanese rice. The wasabi is hot like it should be and the seaweed salad was fresh.

So the restaurant has a little place in the back when they are not open. It's kookey fun. The chefs put your sushi on a little plate then it floats on a little boat in a little stream and you grab what you want as it floats by. Just a dollar a plate. Eat a lot or a little. Don't... More
