Visiting friends in Boise, so they suggested this place. Nice atmosphere inside and a cool setting. Wife ordered the Bolognese which was pretty good. I had the Braised Short Ribs, while tasty, a bit overcooked. Good drinks and very good service. Wish they offered more...entree items , but would certainly return.More

WOW - so glad we chose Alavita for our celebration dinner while visiting Boise. The food and cocktails were excellent. The burrata cheese appetizer was particularly outstanding. Very friendly service & atmosphere. Wish there was an Alavita where I live!

As always, the food here is very good. Not your typical Italian joint, they actually take their time to craft great, one-of-a-kind dishes. HOWEVER, the service was really bad. To their defense, our server did tell us he was training and I don't think it...was him (plus there was no one shadowing him). I think the kitchen may have been overwhelmed and unusually slow. We did get a little put off by the fact that a couple seated 20 minutes after us was served and out the door before us. One item to point out. The most uncomfortable booth ever. I'm not small but not over large and it was a very tight fit. I'm not sure the logic in designing that type of booth but it is a reality in a lot of restaurants. I guess the sacrifice for one adds square footage to seat another. We'll be back, at a table and enjoying the Burrata appetizer!More

I loved the caesar salad and the puttenesca. My only complaint is that the waiter was more interested in the table ordering bottles of wine vs us who just had a glass. and it was my birthday!

First we have eaten at Alavita about 5 times over the last several years. We really love the ambience. The room is very quaint and cozy. Initially the food was pretty good. The menu was not like the chain Olive Garden in any way, it...was short. I did think it was expensive so we cut back going there for fairly average food. We , five of us, ate there as a family Christmas tradition. At this recent meal I was spoken quite condescendingly after forgetting my mask. In light of our bill being over $300 I thought the hostess did not need to talk down me and could have simply been more "informative". I would have left and gone elsewhere but not to ruin our yearly meal. My wife had a black pasta dish which she did not like, My ribs were fine actually which was the first time I could say my entree was good. The pasta dishes our girls ordered were unremarkable. To make this short, the food was average, service good, ambience good but not worth the few hundred we spent. I would put our meal this way, we do not have plans to patronize the restaurant again. Just very ordinary food.More

We had the pleasure of being graced by Shaina's presence as our waitress for our celebratory dinner. I have managed the Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott hotels in the last 4 years in Los Angeles, and I have to say, Shaina's personality and professionalism, as...well as the rest of the staff we have interacted with (unfortunately, I did not get their names) remind me of that same excellence in service, ambiance and quality of food and drink in these establishments. I am so grateful my partner and I found this gem in downtown Boise. Shaina paid attention to detail, especially since we each have food allergies. She was personable, and always had a big smile that you could see through a mask. The one thing that really caught my attention was how she called my partner by his first name. He didn't introduce himself to her, but she caught his name through his credit card at the time of billing. It isn't much, but that's the quality of service you only see in luxury tier hotels. Alavita definitely feels luxurious. It felt like home. Your staff should be rewarded for their quality of service and training and should be an example in regards to customer service to all top tier businesses in Idaho. I am very happy to know this business has survived in spite of a pandemic, and it isn't hard to understand why it has survived in the face of adversity––it is your staff! Thank you for a wonderful experience, Alavita and Shaina. We will see you again!More

This is the favorite restaurant of some old friends we are visiting in town. Following the advice of our friends, we had the meatball appetizer, which was fine, but not as flavorful as I thought it might be. Then my wife and I shared two...pasta dishes - one with mild sausage and tomatoes and a red-ish sauce, and the other one with a lighter, oil-based sauce with veggies. Both were good, though I was hoping for a little more zip in the spicy sausage. Service was excellent. With drinks, tax and tip, it was about $140 for four. It's a nice venue with an interesting selection of pasta dishes.More

Great ambience, an amazing waitress...unfortunately combined with small portion sizes with pretty bland flavored dishes. We actually had to hit up a taco shop down the street after eating here for a do-over of our date. I had a chicken dish that tasted like over...cooked chicken mixed with a couple tomatoes, and my wife had a dish that was equally dismal. We split a ceasar salad that was probably the highlight of our meal. We had originally wanted to eat at Luciano's, but their line was out the door. We won't be back anytime soon, it was pretty disappointing.More

Really nice little place. Funky and cool dining room. VERY open kitchen. Huge cool square bar with patron seats all the way around. Cool booths like look like they are from a haunted house. Sister restaurant of the always amazing Fork, but totally different menu...and vibe. Everything we ordered was great, as were the cocktails and the service was perfect.More

We had a very nice dinner at Alavita restaurant. We walked in without a reservation. Since there were no tables available and there would be a one hour wait, do we were initially seated at the bar near the door. A nice corner table opened...up so we were moved. There was a nice selection of crafted cocktails and an extensive wine list. For starters we had the artichoke, the delicata squash, which was tasty but a little firmer than I expected. For dinner, I had the black ravioli with lobster, which was delicious. The others in my party also enjoyed their meal. The service was great, and the staff was friendly. The ambiance was warm and inviting. I’d return but recommend making a reservation a head of time.More
