This is the only place in town we go to eat seafood. In fact, I probably shouldn't even be writing this review cause I don't want even more people to know about it. But, alas, it's true: best seafood in town.

I hadn't been here since before the pandemic and was not at all disappointed. Such reasonable prices for a nice quality meal. I stopped for dinner after shopping on a weekday and service was fast. The salmon was great and I was really happy that...the side veggies were actually FRESH vegetables chopped and stir fried, not the sad frozen veggies you get even at fancy restaurants with higher price points. Memory was a great server and helped to make sure I got gluten-free accommodations. Will have to stop in again!More
It’s been about 5 years since I ate here. I went on a Monday at 12:45pm. I was debating on going here or to Red Lobster (down the street). I arrived at 12:45 ordered at 12:55 and was finished with lunch about 1:40. I ordered...the crab/lobster cakes and a bowl of clam chowder. The bowl was very large. I should of ordered a cup of chowder. Good: -Greeted quickly as soon as I came in. They told me to seat myself. There were two waitresses and very busy. My waitress was really nice and continued to check on me often. -Clean restaurant and bathroom. They have painted it a nice sea blue since the last time o was in here. -Fresh ice tea was very strong and refreshing (as it was last time I came). Ok: -The chowder is different. It did have a lot of clams in it. Not too thick not too thin. It’s hard to find good clam chowder in Idaho. I’m assuming most people will like it. We go to the Oregon and Washington coast every year so we are spoiled having amazing chowder. -The crab/lobster cakes were tasty but I’m not sure how much c is actually in them. I tasted more of the breading. The sauce drizzled over the cakes was very good though! The overall atmosphere is very nice. I might go back and try some other items on the menu.More
The seafood here is the best in Boise which is why we're repeat customers. However, on a recent visit we had a bit of a "service issue" that left us quite unhappy. We voiced our displeasure with the management and were pleasantly surprised when they...not only "made it right" but exceeded our expectations! The owner of this restaurant definitely appreciates and values his customers! If you want great seafood at an affordable price, make this your place.More
What a gem in Boise. The food was delicious, promptly served, and very appealing. The service was wonderful from the moment we walked in the door. Clean, bright, cozy, and conveniently located. We will definitely be back...often.
We had a great birthday lunch there. The hot sea food salad was amazing. ALI was a great waitress . They were busy but she was attentive to every need. They have changed the birthday discount to $5.00 but still gave it to us because...they hadn't put the change out into a n email. It is always our "to go to" place for great seafood!!! ***One thing great is , They recently changed owner ship but have never changed the menu nor the staff. They rock!!More
As a native New Englander, I know my fish and chips. Fresh Off the Hook has consistently had the best fish and chips in town for many years. It maintains a high standard on other entrees as well, but for me fish and chips is...the clearest test of the quality of a seafood restaurant. I prefer the cod over the other options. The only thing more I wish for is that they would have haddock. But nobody else does in Boise, either.More
12/20/22 --- had to wait 40 minutes for a takeout order. Restaurant was pretty full but orders to tables went out with regularity and promptness. I was given no reason for the long time to prepare the takeout order; no refund, no "it's free, we're...sorry for the long wait." The food is very good but such a lengthy time to get a simple order is unacceptable.More
The food was great. The service, however was absolutely sublime. Our waitress, Jessica, was the most engaging person I’ve ever run into. It was a delight to watch her work her magic. What an asset.
An employee where we are staying recommend Fresh off the Hook, so since it was nearby, we decided to try it. It was clean and cute decor. The staff was friendly. The negative aspect is we wanted a dinner menu as we had been traveling...all day and were ready for our meal of the day. I was told at this time of day..2:30, it was just lunch menu. I ordered the broiled salmon which stated it came with veggies. The salmon was well seasoned and tasty, but VERY small in size. The veggies were grilled peppers and mushrooms, My husband had fish and chips which he was was OK. We are visiting so won't be back.More
I actually planned on going to a different restaurant but when I saw this place I remembered that it had good reviews so we decided to take a chance. It was great. Coming from California we’ve been searching for a good seafood restaurant. Small unpretentious...place. Interesting menu. Lots of variety. there were four other tables eating. Not a crumb was left on any plate always a good sign. I am doing keto so I had cioppino and a light hot Greek seafood salad. My husband had clam chowder. The cioppino was excellent. very rich classic tomato base assorted fresh fish, someone knows how to make soup . Hubby enjoyed his clam chowder which was made in an authentic New England style (milk based and not heavy cream ). And the Greek salad delicious. Nice plump shrimps and baby scallops combined with a few baby shrimp grilled with mushrooms and a kind of garlic sauce topped Some delicious greens and a homemade tasting Greek dressing. everything tasted fresh not fishy or frozen, plump firm texture. what a delight this place is. Our waiter was very good. The meal was a good value too. I can’t wait to come back for dinner here.More
One evening I had Eileen's crab and lobster bake served with rice and seasoned sauteed vegetables. Also, opted for the clam chowder in lieu of a salad for and extra $2. The food tasted great and there was a lot of it. I saved half...of that meal for lunch the next day. Another evening, I had the halibut fish and vegetables. Their sauteed vegetables are so good! This time I opted for the Ciopino instead of a salad. I actually liked it even more than the clam chowder.More
Meledy or Melody answered business phone and said to busy to make recommendations. Said to go to their website. Asked for Manager, she said no, none available. Essentially she ended call. So rude!
We had a group of 5 that were seated immediately. The halibut fish and chips were excellent as were the soups. Salad was ok,nothing exciting. Seared ahi appetizer was also just ok. They have big portions especially the pasta so plan for leftovers.
Food was amazing, my friends and I were well taken care of. Shandon was awesome & provided the best service! Thank you Shandon!
