About
Housed in the historic 8th St Marketplace, Solid Grill & Bar, focuses on local food and beers. We feature eleven local beers on tap; a selection that changes based on the availability of the best offerings from the local brewers. The food is both classic and daring. The menu is wide enough to please any guest while narrow enough to ensure quality and freshness. Vaulted ceilings, brick arches, natural wood, and warm tones make Solid Grill and Bar the perfect dining getaway. The walls are decked with local art that has a distinctly Boise theme. Solid has two happy hours daily from four to six pm and ten to midnight with half priced drinks and a unique appetizer menu. Every Friday and Saturday

After a 4+ mile walk around town, including the Boise State Football field, we stopped in for a relaxing lunch and beers. My wife had the Club Sandwich and I had the Steer Tacos and both were excellent. We went in about 1:30, it was...uncrowded and the AC was refreshing. The patio had misters, but we stayed inside.More

One of my favorite places in Boise. Never a disappointing meal and they have restarted live music (weather permitting.)

The cauliflower bombers were a great start to the evening. There could be a bit less breading but the flavor was good. I was a bit hesitant to order the shrimp and grits since but I’m glad I did. The grits were creamy and smooth...while the shrimp were perfectly cooked and really garlicky. The smoky ham and chorizo gravy over the top made it truly worth ordering.More

Service was slow and mundane. Burger was seriously over cooked. Going there for a drink you are in business. Food not so much. Burger did have good flavors added.

This was a nice place to come for dinner. I had the sweet potato enchiladas, which I thought were pretty good. The spicy risotto was definitely spicy. It is a good place to come check out.

Boise has many good restaurants, sadly, this is not one of them. Walked in and there was no staff to be found. After calling for help someone finally emerged from the kitchen. Restaurant was cold and the waitress had to ask permission to turn up...the heat. The food was mediocre at best and looked like it had been “dished up” at a dormitory cafeteria. Very unappetizing. Will not go again.More

Stopped in for a a lite night bite. The Happy Hour is solid, with half price draft beer (2 for 1 was how it was described) and a substantial list of beer options to choose from. They have an extensive menu with the usual suspects...and some unusual stuff too like chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and sweet potato enchiladas. Since they were still serving the full menu, we tried some of the more eclectic food and it was good, but not super. Almost seemed like they were trying to do a little too much with each plate. Overall, this is a decent late night stop.More

My husband and here were drawn to this place because of their singer, who was like a Siren luring us in with his tantalizing music. The musician was impressive, filling the empty streets with his enchanting music. So we decided to try this place out....The music trapped us. Everything else was sub-par at best. The food was not memorable, but the waiter was, because he was one of the worst I have had in a long time. It was almost comical how bad he was. His name was Matt and he had long scraggly hair put in a sloppy man-bun. I would guess he was high, but I can't be sure. He was slow and blatantly careless. When I asked what the specials were, he stared at me and he may have even drooled. He said, "I don't know..." Then he walked over to the chalkboard to give himself a reminder. He forgot my husband's drink. It took forever to get our food. When we did and we were missing condiments, Matt disappeared for what felt like a half-hour. We flagged down whoever we could and she was decent. We told her our guy disappeared, so she enthusiastically took care of us (she had a manager-vibe). Matt magically appeared and seemed more apt to serve us when he came back... but it was too late. Next time, we'll listen to the music from afar, because we will not go back.More

I decided to try this since it was a close walk to my hotel. I didn't order anything too fancy, a burger and fries. The food presentation looked great and the quantity was there, but there was nothing special when it came to taste. The...fries appeared to be fresh cut, but taste wise just nothing special. The burger was extremely salty and lacking in taste as well. With all the choices in this area, I'd have to pass on this one if in the area again. I'm guessing there are some decent choices near by.More

I believe I reviewed Solid once last year. They consistently have good food and great service. They have a limited menu but everything they have is excellent and our part of 6 chose from all over the spectrum. Drink service was a teensy bit slow...for our party of 6 particularly on mixed drinks, but food service was fast and friendly.More
