Whenever we have a special occasion and we choose to go out for a fine dining experience, Chandler's is the place! Recently celebrated spouse's birthday and it was a great experience. I arrived too early for our reservation and was hoping to have a cocktail before being seated, but with the pandemic, obviously things have changed in the bar area. Not to worry, because they went ahead and seated us about an hour early to accommodate us.
The food was great. I was set on the deep bay scallops and lobster bisque and it was very good. Nice sear on the scallops, but maintaining that opaque consistency. I love the crisp potato cakes that come with it along with the citrus blanc sauce and shittake mushrooms. My wife went big with the surf and turf- a 9 oz Maine lobster tail and a 6 oz filet. Yum. It was topped off with a complimentary chocolate souffle, which never disappoints.
Service impeccable with water refills that went unnoticed.
A successful, enjoyable celebration!

I hadn't been to Chandlers in years, and I really enjoyed this return trip. Four of us went, and right from the start when I called in the reservation, it was an exceptional experience. They asked if there was a special occasion, and i said it was our anniversary, which they made note of. We received a warm welcome, arriving 30 min early, and started in the bar with martinis (excellent.) For dinner we had lobster and fillets, and both the food and service were top shelf. The chef stopped by to check on quality; the manager stopped by to check on everything; our server would make quiet walk-by's without interrupting but was attentive in pouring the Prosecco and Cab and ensuring everything was perfect. After dinner, they brought a lovely chocolate souffle, which was as fun to watch as it was to eat. (She pierced it, poured in hot chocolate sauce and spooned in Grand Marnier whipped cream.) It was a first-rate dinner experience, and I look forward to returning.

We have previously dined at Chandlers several times a year. The entrée of veal picatta on the three course prix fixe menu has always been the star attraction for us. Being cautious about in-house dining during the pandemic, we were pleasantly surprised to find Chandlers offering as take-out the same prix fixe meals. Our take-out meal exceeded our expectations. The starter soup, a lobster bisque was, as always, rich, flavorful and still piping hot when we arrived home. The tender, succulent morsels of veal were in a beautiful sauce of fresh lemon, capers and butter, accompanied by a fluffy and filling polenta cake that has always been a favorite of ours. A luscious chocolate trifecta with three different types of chocolate in a raspberry sauce and whipped cream completed the meal. The logistics of ordering and picking up the meal went as smoothly as clockwork. We were amazed and pleased that a carry out meal could be of such high caliber. Bravo to the kitchen and staff of Chandlers for a superb at home dining experience!

Thank you for giving our curbside program a try. It is hard to do "fine dining" as take out, but we are working on all aspects of keeping it fresh! In fact, it was so popular during the shelter in place orders, that we had to bring back the program despite being open for dine-in.

We've been in Boise for 20 years and this was our first visit to Chandlers. We've heard all about it for years but after many botched recommendations to other "fantastic" restaurants, we had average expectations. But were we ever wowed! We decided to try lunch with the Easter special menu for $65.00 per person. It was worth every penny and we would have paid 2x that. There was good selection that included an appetizer, soup or salad, main course, and dessert. The crab cake was perfectly prepared with minor breading and a robust flavor. The lobster bisque was rich and satisfying, and the abundant serving of prime rib was tender, flavorful, and could be cut with the bread knife! The cheesecake was fabulous! Both food and service was above and beyond anything I have experienced in years. The atmosphere is romantic with live background music. I am so proud that we have such an incredible local restaurant here in Boise. I cannot wait to get back to try the full menu!

Family dinner to celebrate a graduation. It is a great place. Steak was cooked to perfection. Scalloped potato side was delicious. Daughter had a fish main which was great as well. Spouse the waygu burger. Pricey but in all to have a properly aged steak cooked perfect is worth it

I was looking very much forward visiting this place after reading all reviews. I ordered a Wagyu Ribeye medium rare. When the meat was served I had a bite and it was not even worn but cold. I touched it with my fingers. The whole piece was cold. After I reported that back, I was asked if they should heat it up. I was hesitant as I was worried that then the sides would get cold in the meantime. So I as reassured I get a hot piece of meat and new sides. What I got back was a charcoaled piece of meat and soggy frites (for sure the original frites which spend a few minutes under a heat lamp). Asked on how it was, I gave a sincere answer: charcoaled meat and soggy fries. The maître (or whoever it was) walked away while I was giving an honest feedback. Shocking. But on a positive note: the salad I got as side was nice.

Thank. you for choosing to dine with us at Chandlers, Michele. When were you dining with us? It sounds like our team did discuss your satisfaction with you at the time, which is our policy, but I am disappointed to hear that they walked away mid-conversation. Would you mind contacting me directly please? mb@chandlersboise.com. Cheers, Mary Beth Chandler

We came on a Thursday evening during downtown restaurant week and took advantage of the special menu. We had to ask for the restaurant week special menu; it should be presented with the other menus when we are seated. The restaurant week menu is nearly identical to the fixed price menu offered everyday. The only difference is the addition of the 6oz filet mignon as an entree option. The price is $50pp. (I reviewed this same special in 2017 and the price then was $35.) We had cocktails which were very good. The server was attentive but not the most knowledgeable (I knew things about the offerings that she didn't). People seated at the next table were served amuse bouche but we were not. The lobster bisque was spectacular as usual. I ordered the filet mignon because of the special. The filet was perfectly cooked but I was somewhat disappointed with the presentation (see photo); the plate looked a bit sad. Others at our table reported that their entrees were good. Desserts were wonderful. We visit Chandlers once every couple of months for birthdays, holidays, entertaining out-of-town visitors, etc., but this visit was a little disappointing. Are they paying less attention to fixed price menu items? Were they too busy on this Thursday night? We will probably skip Chandlers during restaurant week next year. For now, we will continue to visit on other occasions.

Chandlers is our go to place if we want guaranteed awesome food, service and ambiance. We have been several times now over the last year and a half and are never disappointed. Morgan and Sean are the best servers ever...they have such fresh food, including starting off with Kumamoto oysters. They have a super wine and cocktail menu as well. Love the live music, too.

A few of my good friends and I visited Chandlers for an evening steak. We were greeted at curbside with friendly valet parking, we had a few cocktails at their lively bar then we were seated in a nice comfortable slide around sofa chair. Our host was quite delightful, the floor manager was very tentative. We ordered the (out of this world) scallops, seafood platter and escargots. Our main dishes were ribeye, chilean bass and mahi mahi. This entire menus sent our taste buds into another dimension. If you’re looking for a pleasant evening with excellent food, this is the place. Our server, Sloane, was pleasant to talk to, she was bubbly and was very knowledgeable of the menu. I give her and this restaurant 5 stars.

My wife and I decided we needed to try Chandlers Steakhouse. But with the current pandemic we called in a order to pick up and take home. We called around five thirty and they said we could pick up the food at 6:30 pm. We arrived at the right time and we only had to wait another 5 or 6 minutes and we had our food.. I tipped them 40 bucks which was well responded to. No reason to short the staff a tip when you take the food home. They work hard for the tips they earn. I ordered the surf and turf. My wife had the salmon steak , both came with sides of potatoes and broccoli. The steak was awesome must have been Snake River Farms Wagyu (wagyo). So tender and juicy , I ordered it medium and it was cooked perfectly. I had some of the wife's salmon and it was grilled perfect also. The food was excellent. When the pandemic is over we will eat there and enjoy the jazz music and the nice ambiance!

Excellent service and food. Great Manhattan. Was looking forward to sharing a ribeye steak with my husband (shouldn't that be the item to order at a well-known steak house?). But he decided on something else and I took advantage of the fresh seafood they fly in each day. The scallops on truffled potato patties was fabulous as was the Caesar salad. I love the leather booths, ambiance of the bar with blue lighting and of course the entertainment - pianist for a while then the jazz combo that you can enjoy any night of the week. Prices are comparable to any quality restaurant. Highly recommended.

We went to celebrate in late April and sad to say, three of the dishes we ordered weren't up to standards we expected. The service was excellent and ambiance as well. We are usual Ruth Chris diners for special occasions but decided to try Chandlers for this special event. Party of 4; and three ordered the Miso Cod on my recommendation since I have had this dish many times at Roy's and it was amazing. The taste here was just 'ok' and it was placed on some sort of rice that wasn't appetizing; plus one of the portions of the cod was half the size of the other two - we did not comment to server as sending it back would have spoiled the ambiance and resulted in the other diners eating their meal and one having to wait. Interesting that I do not see this seafood choice on their menu now. We did enjoy the ambiance and service.

Thank you for choosing to celebrate with us at Chandlers, with our live jazz every night and lively lounge! We appreciate your business. I am sorry to learn of your experience not being as memorable as we would like to hear....especially with the cod dish, which is an absolute favorite of our guests. In fact, it is so popular that we have now added it to the menu until it's gone. I totally understand that saying something during the experience could spoil the mood at the table, and am happy to address this with you personally at mb@chandlersboise.com if you would like to continue the conversation. We do guarantee our product. Cheers. Mary BethChandler

The wait staff is the highlight of the restaurant, We have dined there several times, never to be dissatisfied about anything until tonight. I ordered the Cioppino. It’s fume was likened to Campbells tomato soup. Not a fume of seafood. It came in a small, round vessel. The largest pieces of food in it were two pieces of toasted, or grilled sourdough bread. Otherwise, the clams in the shell mind you were approximately about one inch in size. I had no idea it was legal to harvest shellfish that simall as I had never in my life seen them that size. It was by far the worst prepared cioppino I have ever seen, or tasted in my life. Please Chandlers take this dish off of the menu. It’s just not good. It’s not a cioppino by any means, or standard.

I could go and on about my dining experience: The menu selection, hot, authentic french bread with two butter choices-a champagne and an anchovy garlic tapenade, entrees with 2 sides served on very hot plates, along with 3 selections of sauces, wine list, martinis, and the chocolate souffle, served with hot fudge sauce and whipped cream. Then hot lemon towels to wipe your hands. Best dinner I've ever had in the 29 years living in Idaho. Great service by Brody...( I told my waiter that Chandlers should bottle the tapenade it was THAT good)

This is a spectacular restaurant. My wife & I sat at the bar and had a feast. First, the wine options are excellent. Very thoughtfully curated wines by the glass at very fair price-points. The full wine list is stellar at the high
-end, but could use some reinforcement in the under $75 range. Food options cover a wide spectrum. We started with steak capacious, then had a seared tuna dish, "Black Lotus" (seared tuna encrusted with black sesame seeds, with a sharp Wasabi sauce - wow), then we had lamb lollipops that were deliciously seasoned and perfectly grilled, and black cod with a spicy coconut curry sauce (had to get a spoon to finish the sauce). Great service from bartender Sarah. A memorable meal that greatly exceeded expectations.
