WARNING! LONG POST!
My family and I took a trip for a mother/daughter retreat to Tybee Island this weekend. We decided to eat here on Sunday night. When we arrived we were told that they were out of chicken which we all decided that we...would still eat here. We sat down and the waitress begin taking our drink orders (which she was amazing). After, our drinks came out she started taking our orders. I ordered a ceaser salad and pasta. Approximately, 15 minutes after the orders had been put in the waitress came back and stated that they were out of salad mix and could not make any salads. So, I asked her if I could change my order and get the seafood macaroni dish. She stated yes. About, 10 minutes later she came back out and said they were out of macaroni noodles. So I kept my original pasta dish and was content. However, I informed my cousin that she may want to check to make sure that they were able to make her dish since she had ordered the macaroni seafood dish and I had been told they were out of macaroni noodles.
The waitress begin bringing the food out to us and my sister in law asked if she could get some blue cheese crumbles for her artichoke dip. She was informed they were out of blue cheese crumbles. Her mother asked for tarter sauce she was told they were out of tarter sauce. Someone else asked for ranch they was told they were out of ranch. So, at this point we started getting irritated because when we originally sat down to eat we were told they were out of chicken not the other items that we were learning about after our order had already been placed.
Everyone had received their food except for my cousin and the waitress asked if anyone was waiting on food. My cousin stated she had not received her macaroni seafood dish. The waitress goes to the kichen and comes out with a young guy who appeared to be about 21-23 years old. He came to the table and apologized that she did not get her meal and he stated that the kitchen was about to close in 20 minutes and that he would have to boil the noodles and hand shred the cheese to make her dish and he didn't want to do that. We were all appauled! How is it that we are paying customers and you tell the customers 20 minutes before the kitchen closed you don't want to do your job? We asked to speak to the manager and he informed us he was the manager. Again appauled that a "manger", would talk to customers in that manner. The waitress stated the owner was there and she could have him come over to the table. When the owner came over he apologized and offered to give us half off on our food and stated that he has a bunch of "young ass kids" (his words) working for him in the kitchen and if he was to fire all of them, then he would have to be the one to run the kitchen by himself. He also made another comment about the kids working for him, that I will choose to not repeat, however it was very unprofessional. He left the table and went back to the bar and continued drinking wine with his friend. The waitress was almost in tears about how the entire experience had turned out for us. She kept apologizing and said that it is like this every Sunday. Although, we were the only group in the restaraunt other than 2 other couples, apparently on Sunday's it's the last day before they get their food truck and they run out of every thing.
As she started taking our payment for the food she gave me my total and and it was $36 and change. I gave her my card and luckily my bank automatically sends me a message when my card is used to make transactions. When I got the notification from my bank it showed I had been charged $81.81. I informed the waitress immediately and asked her to give me my total again and she stated $36 and change. I told her what I was charged and she ended up just closing everyone's tab out and didn't make us pay. However, we were not looking for free food. We wanted what we had ordered and we were more than happy to pay for our food. Because of the experience that we had and we knew it wasn't the waitresses fault we ended up giving her a tip of over $80.
So, if you are looking to frequent this establiment I would have to say run for the hills. The food was good that I ordered, don't get me wrong, but the kitchen staff and the owner are jokes. I am a manager and any time that my staff are not able to do their job, I do whatever is deemed necessary to ensure that the families my staff serve continue to receive services. Again, we wasn't looking for anything free we just wanted food and complete transparency. Had we known they were out of more items than just chicken, we would had chose another restaraunt to eat at. Instead, some people in our group left unstatisfied or not having a meal at all and now I am having to leave a poor review on a restaraunt that had good food.More
