Authentic Southern Comfort food offered cafeteria style. There is a daily rotation of meat, vegetables and dessert since they have folks that eat there more than once a week. Simple decor, but great people watching.

I am so glad I found this place. Some of the best chicken and dumplings I've had in years! All the sides tasted homemade instead of from a can. Definitely try the banana pudding for dessert!

Matthews has been around for decades, providing home cooked meals for thousands of customers. Always a line at meal times, but the line moves quickly, but the parking gets scarce. Several choices of meats, veggies, and deserts. Two large dining rooms and a small private room on a first-come basis. Now open every day except Saturday. Open until 8 pm... More

If you're just looking for a friendly place to have something to eat then this place fits the bill. It is a typical Southern cafeteria with lots of butter and fried foods. Definitely not healthy and definitely not upscale cuisine.

Locals rave about this long-time place for lunch and it's been featured on Triple D. I think it's just an average meat-n-three in rather Spartan setting.

My 86 year old aunt was visiting Atlanta and was tired to the "restaurant" food and was looking for down home food. We took her to Matthews and she was thrilled. She really enjoyed the chicken and greens. Very full and satisfied.

Husband grew up in Tucker so this was a return visit to his hometown. Food was good and plentiful, nothing fancy but made for a filling meal.

Meat and three! Fried green 'maters, chicken and dumplings, greens, all the fixins. If you leave hungry it is your own fault! Always a choice of entrees and sides that will satisfy your home cooked cravings. Don't let the long line scare you, it moves pretty fast.

We have always enjoyed our meals here at Matthews Cafeteria. For years this was our favorite haunt, both for the wonderful food and friends. But life changes and we moved away. However, we get to visit Tucker on occasion and often stop here for lunch or supper. We know the owners and family. They have worked hard to maintain the... More

This cafeteria used to be the place to go for good homestyle food; the place to stand in line for good southern food. Even though the stark atmosphere of bright flourescent lights in a church basement atmosphere, the trip and the wait were once worth the time. Not in quite a while now. Best advice is don't waste you money.
