Steaks and deserts were excellent, oyster stew was amazing. Acorn squash side dish was not good; cold and should have been described as something other than squash. Hostess initially took the position that we had no reservation even though we had proof the reservation had...been made, later apologized. Waiter started off well but faded quickly. Drinks were weak.More

Do Not tip your server. I know this sounds mean but your server receives none of the tip. The manager keeps/pockets All the tips!

First visit since they opened for lunch. My guest and I arrived early and got a nice booth. We wanted to start with cocktails but were told by the waiter that the bartender was out that day sick. Our waiter said if the drinks weren't...too difficult he could make them and we said fine. Later he had to tell us that the manager wouldn't let him make the drinks, but she would be down from her office to make them. She didn't come so by the time our appetizer was served , so our waiter offered us beer or wine.We said okay. The Lunch fish dip we shared was excellent. The $20 Bistro NY Strip is sliced and laid on top of cheesy herbed fries and I highly recommend this hearty lunch . My guest enjoyed the classic burger. Near the end of the meal the manager arrived and asked if I still wanted my drink and I said yes, as my guest and I were still talking. I naturally assumed she was going to comp the drink especially after all of the back and forth. The manager brought me a drink of mostly creme. I told her it wasn't good and that she just need to put a few ice cubes in an old fashioned glass , pour a full jigger of Kahlua on top with a splash of creme and I would stir it. She brought back a weakened drink, which I had to pay $7.00 for. I'd already paid $16.00 for two Rieslings we had taken as a substitute because she wouldn't let our waiter mix the simple cocktails we originally ordered. I suggest to management that they give a crash course to their waiters on basic drinks, if management can't be bothered with their customers. This manager obviously didn't care about bartending! Andrew, our server bent over backwards trying to accommodate us and had to apologize for management which was unfortunate. I didn't penalize him, but left him an excellent tip on a $68.00 lunch for two. I would have given the Chop House an excellent rating because of the food and Andrew, but you expect more from an eatery that has a full bar and your charging these prices for lunch in little Downtown T'ville.More

We enjoyed our first visit! Good service! The steaks were fantastic but the seafood was equally great, if you don’t like meat.

The Chophouse has been for years our go-to for special celebrations and times we wanted an upscale dinning experience. And we were willing to pay the price for their excellent food and service. We were never disappointed. That changed last night. I’m sad to say...that I have to agree with many of the reviews I’ve just read that noted the extremely slow service, the meager portions of the meat entree combined with copious amounts of potatoes and the horrendous noise level that makes it impossible to have a conversation at the table. The staff is well aware of these shortcomings and apologized frequently without our having said anything until asked. In fact the cost of our cocktails was removed from our bill which I greatly appreciated but that does not solve the problems this restaurant must deal with if it wants to regain the level of excellence it once enjoyed.More

We went in for an early dinner. The place filled up immediately, which was a bit shocking given the price and limited menu options. I understand that chefs these days like to be more creative with the menu selections; however, if you are going down...that rabbit hole, you do need things on the menu that can be for the masses. This is not one of those places. I think there were a total of 8 entries to choose from and all come with pre-selected sides. We were able to select sides from other entries; however, there were not so many choices. Also, the steak appears to only be cooked one way, medium-rare. Our server told us that is how he likes to do steaks. We ordered ours medium well and the thing was still moo'ing. We sent it back and it did not come out much better. When you pay $45 for a filet it needs to be impeccable. Not so much.More

For our group it was a dinner with undertrained staff and average food for a restaurant charging as if the food and service is five star. It was good. Adequate. I would simply suggest improved service or lower pricing to match what you deliver.

The place has potential but .... it’s very loud, the copper table tops are nasty, the food takes forever, but at least it’s over priced. The only good thing we experienced was our waitress. She was very attentive and apologetic about the time it took...to get our meal.More

I went with three friends. Two of us had eaten a late, filling lunch and were hoping for a light dinner. One of us ordered the grilled Caesar salad with chicken and I ordered the grilled Caesar salad with the scallop appetizer. I have an...unusual food allergy. The only part of the appetizer I could eat were the three scallops because of the method of preparation. Anyway, the server was relatively new and wasn’t aware that the restaurant has a no substitution policy. The Caesar salad with chicken is only a lunch menu item. I don’t fault the server. I fault management for poor training. The service of the main course was S-L-O-W. The food was very good. Everyone in the party enjoyed their meal and the desserts were excellent. But training servers well ought to be a priority.More

Had dinner at Chop House with a group of business colleagues and the building was a neat remodeled bank and the food was on point. I had the dry aged ribeye and the smashed potatoes and they were incredible. Service was good, but but our...server was new and a little intimidated by the group, I think, so she will get better and more comfortable serving this type of group. Overall, excellent steakhouse and I the chef does an awesome job!More

They were discussing expansion into the storefront next door and it looked like there was the beginning of a room off to the side, but I did not look closely.
