All reviews pasta branzino bread veal chop octopus appetizer tiramisu italian food great wine list front of the house between courses great local spot service was a bit slow business dinner jamie adams chef server
Great food. Service was below average. They asked if we had an occasion to celebrate and we responded yes. They confirmed at the door and again the waitress asked. Nothing was ever done by anyone. Too bad they did everything else right.
I had a 5 out of 5 star rating because the waiters are so fast and so kind and there is this one waiter that’s named Virginia and she is so kind and the design is magnifique it’s just so perfect and clean they are...so kind and caring it makes me want to give them a 5 star review and you should to.More
We ate at Il Giallo last night (March 14, 2020) with my brother and sister-in-law as we both received an email from the restaurant that they take extreme caution during the COVID-19 outbreak. They were amazing! We arrived on time and as frequent visitors to...the restaurant we noticed they removed about 1/3 of the tables in the dinning room to spread everything out. There was no silver where or glasses on the table. The had sanitary wipes available at the host desk. Once we sat down, a gloved employee put down wrapped silverware and water glasses. The waiter took our order standing 4 feet away and everyone seemed very cognizant of hygiene and distancing. Plus, the food as always, was great with perfect service. Way to go Jami and Ben!More
I was looking for Italian food away from my hotel. I asked the clerk at the Athletic Center
For a restaurant and he recommended the I’ll Giallo.
Restaurant was spacious with a welcoming hostesses to great and sit you as you come in.
The service...was great as were the atmosphere and food.
I highly recommended this restaurant if you are in this area.
I had chicken Parmesan. Great portion.More
We went to Il Giallo on a Monday. The restaurant had a nice crowd but by no means was it full. My wife and I were hosting a business dinner for 10 guests. Our server was Virginia. She was friendly, eager to please and very...engaging. She has a wonderful way about her. Her knowledge of the menu and specials was excellent. She pointed out the items that the restaurant is known for and made recommendations.
Menus were received quickly. I ordered both white and red wines but it took quite some time for the wine to arrive.
We ordered a selection of appetizers for the table. After that the entrees were served. My food could have been hotter. For most of the dinner Virginia was alone in serving our large group. She could have used a partner to help her. And she was spending a great deal of time with an adjacent table of just 3 people who obviously were either regulars or friends of the chef/owner. They actually received more attention than our table did. The chef/owner was off this evening but I saw he was having dinner at the bar. He never came to our large table during the evening. It makes you think your business is not appreciated. If this was my business, Iwould have visited the table whether I was on duty or not.
The front of the house manager did not stop by our table at the beginning to introduce himself and say if we needed anything just ask him or Virginia. He saw on a few occasions that our table had used plates and serving pieces but he never took the initiative to start clearing the table nor did he ask a server or bus person to start. This manager only came to our table once all evening and that was long after all of the food was delivered. Our total bill with tip was over $800.00. I would think for that large a table making such a large expenditure, that we would merit a little attention from the manager. Many times I saw him behind the bar having a personal drink or watching the TV and just chatting with employees who were definitely leaning on the bar, not doing any work and watching TV. The chef/owner was seated at this end of the bar right next to all of these employees chatting and watching TV. The front of the house manager also spent much more time with the adjacent a table of three.
Just one another item that needs improvement. When we were asked if we wanted grated cheese on a plate, the server ( not Virginia) was working the grinding wheel so quickly and from behind us that he spread cheese on some of our guests clothing including my wife and myself. His desire to work very quickly made this a sloppy experience.
Let me mention for last the food. Everyone was very pleased with all of their food. The octopus appetizer was the best octopus I have ever had anywhere, including Italy. The veal and chicken parmesan was a huge hit, the portion was huge and it tasted great. The only entree that was not a huge hit was the crazy deconstructed lasagna. Perhaps because it is so non-traditional, it was met with just average comments.
Overall we were pleased and will return.More
Went for a business gathering and at first the meal fired off at a very good pace. As the dinner went on it became a very long time between courses and even the ability to get drinks on time.
Very nice wait staff, unsure if...they weren’t staffed well for our group though.
Food was very good.More
while originally we thought of this as just the convenient quality italian, we've come to realize over the past year that every meal is an excellent experience - great waitstaff, nicely spaced tables, good specials every night, and delicious food that's always reliable. the bread...is outstanding. we always enjoy the ceasar salad. pastas are very good and they have a fine hand with fish.More
Il Giallo is one of ,if not the best restaurant in ATL. We have been eating there since it opened. Chef Jamie has curated a menu that is wonderful.
I can not imagine anyone with taste buds not falling in Love with their fresh pasta,made...in front of you,or their incredible veal Parmesan. We have not only had the pleasure of dining there ,weekly if possible,I even had an incredible Birthday party for 25 people there. Everything was perfect. .Chef Jamie and Leo Maura do an amazing job.
I am writing this to rebut some of the ridiculous comments that have been posted by pseudo gourmets

If you look at a map of Metro Atlanta you will see the I-285 loop that goes around Metro Atlanta. This restaurant is just off I-285 loop (up on the North part of the I-285 loop) at the Roswell Road Exit - up on the North End of the Loop - it's a ways from the Atlanta Airport (which is on the opposite South part of the I-285 loop) - depending on the time of day and the Atlanta traffic - at lease a half hour drive from the airport
