Food, service, location, and management were all top notch. The waitress was knowledgeable, efficient, friendly and professional...a balance hard to achieve. Their OM Manhattan was a real treat even for this experienced Manhattan drinker. The roasted artichoke salad was truly exceptional. The veal picatta was...a wonderful slight twist on a traditional recipe and extremely both tender and tasty. The salmon was perfectly prepared and presented. All of that and they were doing everything possible to keep everyone healthy too. Highly recommendedMore

My husband and I eat here nearly once a week, and I’ve enjoyed every single visit. They change the menu frequently enough that it keeps your interest, but there is always a core group of items to return to. Staff is excellent. The service is...warm and welcoming. Two thumbs way up and five stars all the way!More

We dined here tonight and were just underwhelmed by the food. First course was calamari which was perfect! But our main course, the Bolognese was so bland. I was disappointed. I’ve dined here in the past and always felt they were one of the best...Italian restaurants in our area. Not today though. I must say that service was good!More

We had a lovely dinner at Osteria Mattone; my husband had the beef short ribs and I ordered the duck confit. The setting is warm and inviting. Our server, Tatum, was just the best, friendly and professional.

I was in town for a meeting - this restaurant was suggested as part of a city wide Dine Around. I am glad this was on the list. We made a reservation - they were busy. From the time you pull up you are taken...back to a different time - the fire pit was going - you were greeted immediately. The staff here is right on it - they want to host you. Were sat upon our arrival - a 4 top in the dining room. They are following all Covid protocols. The table are spread out. Our server was Natalya - great smile and personality. We were served the asiago bread - it was hot and good . I ordered the ravioli - just the right size - the pasta was fresh - also I had a small caesar salad. The food was outstanding. The staff here works as a team - they do not miss a beat. We took our time and enjoyed the entire dining experience. A great escape can be found here. I will be back here when in Roswell again.More

Our family of four dined at this establishment last evening. While the atmosphere outside is amazing, the service and food are very lacking. I found the pasta dishes to be VERY over priced, The Bolognese had very little sauce and lacked seasoning. The Cacio e...Pepe, known to be a minimalist tasty dish, was served with very under cooked pasta and was basically congealed on the plate. I have gotten better pasta dishes from our local pizza shop! Our waitress had no emotion. We had only one specific request, a beer to be brought with dinner .... it was after three requests. I know times are trying right now, but this is not going to get repeat customers.....More

My girlfriends and I had a blast at Osteria! The outdoor patio is the place to be, and our server had been there since the very beginning. She knew everything about the menu, which was so nice. Their wine list is fantastic. I didn’t realize...they’d won the Wine Spectator Award for eight years in a row. Run don’t walk. This place is fantastic!More

Poor wine choices. Pushy Service. Large servings. Waitress wanted dessert orders before I had finished my main course.

We went for date night last night. We sat on the patio. It was gorgeous. The food was amazing. We had their six course pasta experience dinner. Absolutely a must!

We enjoyed a wonderful brunch at Osteria Mattone last Sunday. We sat on their large, shaded patio away from other diners and the servers all wore masks - so important during the COVID-19 pandemic. The bellinis were delicious - OM makes its own peach puree....We started with the house-made burrata, a huge portion for just two people! I had the short rib ravioli and DH had the pork shoulder. Both were wonderful and we would definitely order both again. A shout out to Zach and Simon, our servers, who made the meal even more special. We'll be back!More

Nestled among other homes turned into boutiques and eating establishments on Canton Street in Roswell is a fantastic little gem that emulates your Nona's (grandma) recipes to perfection. It is our understanding that the owner has three+ other restaurants along this street featuring other cuisines...that are just as original. It was a little chilly to be eating out around the fire pit but the interior of the restaurant was warm and inviting with dark wood walls & tables. We arrived around 5:30 PM as we had theatre tickets for that evening. Mattone does not take reservations unless it's for a time after 8:00 PM. Even at 5:30, the venue was almost totally filled and as we left, there was a lineup of diners waiting patiently for a table to open up. We settled in for cocktails, some very fine Italian wines and a Peroni lager for me. Sal & Marie started out with Carciofi all Griglia (grilled artichoke hearts with herbs & spices). My wife and I shared Polpette (delightful braised veal meatballs stuffed with tomatoes and Parmesan cheese. Then, we went our separate ways for our entree course. Sal had the Salmone (a seared salmon steak with brussels sprouts, a butternut squash puree, onions & basil). Marie chose Agnolotti di Oxo (braised short rib stuffed ravioli in a delightful sauce made with the drippings and butter). I tried one and definitely will order this dish on our next visit. My wife chose the Branzino (a grilled Mediterranean sea bass which I prefer to label it as St. Peter's fish that was accompanied by broccolini [broccoli rab] and a puree of sweet onions). This dish was so light and delicate, that it just melted in your mouth (I stole a forkful). While I am waxing poetically about my table mate's plates, I do not feel shortchanged in the least. I had the Maiale (a stuffed pork chop that was filled with a mixture of Focaccia bread, Gorgonzola cheese and Pomodoro tomatoes and nested next to a roasted squash in a cherry compote. I definitely complement the chef on his ingenuity of combining tastes across the whole menu. While we were satiated, we could not leave Osteria Mattone without trying some items on their dessert menu. It was a difficult choice but we settled on two dishes with four forks. The Budino Caramellato (salted bread pudding with a scoop of gelato) was to die for. The second plate held a Torta di Zucca (a warm miniture bundt cake drizzled with sage caramel and accompanied by vanilla gelato sprinkled with a pumpkin seed streusel. Of course, we need esspresso to wash all of this goodness down. Canton Street has become a diner's heaven for those who do not want to venture into downtown Atlanta or even to Buckhead. We have been to more than a few establishments along this strip. However, Osteria Mattone has won our hearts. It's mille bene!More

wowed? I can't say that I was, however that doesn't mean I wouldn't visit again. Calimari appetizer was delicious and would definitely order again. The carbonara portion size was perfect but it was pretty bland. some salt and lots of pepper helped it along. My...wife ordered the same and was unimpressed as well. Service was a 9.5 out of ten. It missed by .5 because I hate having to ask for something twice. Other than that, every staff member I encountered was very gracious and eager to help. Who knows, maybe I'm too picky or we caught the chef on an uninspired shift (we all have them!) Give them a try, I will again .More

It was okay. The wine menu is fantastic! The food is fine. It isn’t very well seasoned and I have had better pasta at other places around town. We had the meatball appetizer (which was provided by the owner since we had such a bad...experience when we first arrived). For the main course we had the short rib ravioli and the pasta bolognese. Both were lacking. I can’t imagine we will be back. The other restaurant options in the area just have better food.More

Absolutely not! We're happy to see you however you're dressed! We see a range of attire nightly, but most guests wear what we'd call "casual chic."
