My family and I went there on a Thursdau night. The restaurant socially distanced inside, like other restaurants, with every other table available. There were many servers moving around. The area we were seated in had about 4 tables in use when we arrived. We...waited about 30 minutes before anyone decided to take our drink order. That was only because a server who apparently doesn't cover our area was asked to serve us. In some restaurants, any server would see someone sitting there and ask if anyone has served them yet. That wasn't the case at Fish Tales. I actually had to ask the hostess in that area, that was maybe 7 or 8 feet directly in front of us and watching us constantly as we sat drinkless for 30 minutes, if anyone was going to take our order. I'm not sure when/if we would have been taken care of had I.not done that. Staff moved around like they had a lot going on amd none seemed happy (there was no good vibe about the place). Again, there were enough servers in our area to easily cover the few occupied tables including ours'. I DO NOT feel that the virus pandemic had anything to do with service at this restaurant as there were plenty of servers versus the tables filled.
The food took quite some to finally arrive. Maybe that was the norm. Maybe that was just because the seemingly popular outisde was populated a good bit. I don't know.
In regards to the food itself, the price was expected to be a little high and, as with most restaurants like that, you don't get a whole lot for your money. I ordered a 3 taco meal that costs $12. The tacos were small, but tasted okay. They contained a flour tortilla, slaw and 3 shrimp. You can also order with chicken instead of shrimp. It was a very simple set of tacos for $12. Again, they were still okay despite the simplicity. I also had a draft IPA to drink. I expected a 12 ounce glass of beer. What I got was a short, maybe 10 oz, plastic cup's worth. I also should have asked the price of that drink (I actually order 2). I assumed it would be around $4 or $4.50 like other restaurants. Not only were they smaller than I expected, just 2 of those ended up costing me over $12. My wife ordered a 12 oz bottled beer. Her beer cost what I'd expect it to. I should have went with the bottle. That was completely my fault as no price was listed for beer there and I didn't ask before I ordered.
In conclusion, due to the lack of attentiveness, lackluster food compared to price and the ridiculous cost of a draft beer, that was the first and last time we will visit Fish Tales restaurant in Richmond Hill, GA. Hopefully, the service issue was just due to a bad night and others will have a better experience.More
