We went here for tea as we had heard lots of good reports however, I will not be bothering again. The portion size for the price you pay wasn't all that good and once finished both my wife and myself were left with very greasy...More

A visit to Upton Chippy is our occasional family fish and trip treat as it is a bit of a drive however always worth it. The chippy is basically an old shed with no space to swing a fish let alone Cook hundreds of them...More

its well worth the wait, an experience not to be missed, and so rare being coal fired, the Traditional food is always well received by us.

My giddy heart fluttered with eager anticipation as for weeks I nervously awaited my visit to Upton chip shop. Upon my eventual arrival last week I was not disappointed ! The taste took me back to 1945. The grease ran down my face and fingers...More

Description
One of the last " coal fired " Fish & Chip shops in the world. Very little has changed since the 1940's. The fresh(not frozen) Grimsby Haddock & cod is fried in Beef Dripping. The chips are cut by hand and the batter is a secret recipe developed over 65 years. Our customers travel from all over the country and abroad. Now listed in the " Good Food guide 2015 ". WARNING this food is cooked and prepared in a style which makes it unique. Some may find this is not to their liking. If you prefer homologous food, fried to submission in vegetable oil and chips that are " French Fries ", then you won't enjoy this place.
