The Plough Inn at Tarrawingee is a very old "pub" with an incredible history and potentially a great future. We enjoyed a satisfying and enthusiastic visit. It is now under new management and, by coincidence, we were the first customers for the just reopened restaurant. The food was good, generous portions, well presented and fresh. Good quality "pub grub". The... More

Do yourself an absolute treat and visit this amazing place to step back in time and treat your taste buds to a heavenly mix of flavour sensations. Built in the 1860s, nothing much has really changed except the stone-walled storage area has become a fine dining restaurant and they now serve craft beers on tap. Local wines abound but in... More

We were on a ride out for the day. This old pub looks OK for a bite to eat. Us bikers get a bit hungry and we are always thirsty. Parked up the bikes in a rather dusty unsealed carpark . One of the guys went in to see if the could feed all of us for food. Johno came... More

Thank you for your review Yes unfortunately we were closed this Saturday lunch and it's the FIRST time in the 4 years of managing this pub we were closed for FOOD. On this occasion our son had received a cricket ball in the face and was in a pretty bad way.It is not in our nature to close on Saturday... More

Dinner on a rainy Thursday night, 4 other people in the old "original condition" pub. Don't let the, in need of some tlc building, fool you. The food here can rival some of the flashiest eateries in the big smoke and probably beat them. Chorizo croquettes, different and delicious. Beef cheek, perfectly slow cooked, moist and full of flavour. Gnocchi... More

The Plough Inn is one of my locals. It is situated in an old coach house inn, close to the Great Alpine Road. This is my first visit for at least six months, and there have been some changes. The menu is smaller and simpler, there is no 5 course 'tasting menu'. They have kept a few classics off the... More

You could drive past the The Plough Inn thinking it is just an old pub, and even wondering if its still operating. But step inside and you'll find a cosy bar and small lounge with fireplace and then you walk through to a spacious and tasteful restaurant. The night we ate there the menu was limited with only three mains,... More

Had the pleasure of attending our monthly dinner with our wine and food group at The Plough Inn. A local wine maker, Marc Scalzo, also attended the night from Piano Piano wines, who gave an insight of many years learning the trade and developing his boutique wines.. The scallop entree, served with a pea purée and crunchy topping was lovely... More

One of the best meals I've ever had! Amazing five course meal with house cured meats, home made sauces and fantastic fresh produce. Excellent local wines to match. Excellent value at $69 for the five courses! Great atmosphere, lovely old building. Highly recommend taking a detour through Tarawingee to find this gem!

This charming old pub took as by surprise and came highly recommended by the owners of Lakeside Chalet Beechworth. We were not disappointed our meal was 5 star and to die for. You have to go there if in the area.
