We visited Kingsland this week and I consulted TripAdvisor for a place to eat lunch and Steffen’s was rated #1 so we headed there. If I had just passed it on the road with no reference on the quality of the food, admittedly we might...not have tried it. But it is a gem with rough edges so go to Steffen’s for a mouthwatering home cooking adventure and great, friendly service. Since we moved to St Simons last year, we have been looking for some specific home cooked southern specialties like fried chicken livers and gizzards for my husband. This is the first place in the radius of SSI where we found them on the menu daily! So my husband ordered them along with squash casserole and collard greens. He loved all of it but raved about the collard greens and cornbread. In fact he wants to go back and order a double serving of collard greens and cornbread for lunch! I had a very good hamburger steak with gravy and onions, with squash casserole, green beans and hush puppies. It was all very tasty but the hush puppies were cold so that was the only note on the experience. It’s about a 40 minute drive for us but we will go back probably monthly for more wonderful home cooking....there are lots more yummy things on the menu to try!More

I am a NYer, so take that into consideration but IMO they had some truly fine grits and biscuits. The biscuits were fluffy, buttery and salty. The grits were equally good. We also had breakfast burritos that were huge, tasty and very filling. Super happy...we found this place on our drive down to Florida. Stopped for a late breakfast and were full till dinner - which was in Southern Florida by that time. They will order ahead and do take out if COVID is a concern and have outdoor picnic tables.More

It took at least 10 minutes for a server to attend to us. We placed our order. About 15 minutes later no food. Another 10 minutes went by and no food. The server brought 2 plates to our table but it wasn't our order. GEEZ!...I ordered pancakes and sausage. My friend got her order of eggs (cold) with ham. I was still waiting on those pancakes and sausage. Another 10 minutes. According to the server they were filling to-go orders and were backed up. Steffens needs to take classes from an establishment that has practice at eating in or to go orders, and keep on top of it! Finally our gracious server took care of the bill. I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon.More

We really liked the country fried steak, excellent green beans. The biscuits, cornbread, & hush puppies were very tasty, as well. We were disappointed in the onion rings because they would have been amazing if they weren’t way too cold. Overall a very good experience...& we would return because it’s definitely a good value!More

I had the shrimp. Nothing fancy just delicious food. Portions were huge, more than I could eat alone. Had to save room for the delicious peanut butter pie. Nice and friendly staff. Easy takeout

Honestly, this was not our first choice but the chain steak restaurant had an hour wait. We used Trip Advisor and SO glad we did. Service was fast and friendly. Food was SO, SO good. Only complaint was I ate too much. Their squash casserole...was some of the best I have ever eaten. Honestly, you won't be disappointed.More

Was a fan but visited during carryout only and no mask no gloves were not worn by waitress. Did not adhere to 6 foot rule. If business want our money they need to protect US. No matter how good food is it is not worth...price.More

When I travel I like to go to local restaurants. Had a wonderful dinner at Steffens Restaurant tonight...crab cakes, sweet potato fries and lemonade. And amazing banana pudding for dessert...all for around $20. Love the decor and diner atmosphere. Great service and friendly staff. If...you like Southern home cooking, this is the place.More
