Hello O. - Sorry that you had to wait to be served lunch. We have to finish breakfast service before our kitchen can switch over to lunch service. This is usually done in about 15 minutes. We have done it this way for 31 years...More
We stayed just up from Hofer's over the weekend & ate there for breakfast all 3 days. The staff is dressed in Bavarian clothing & are extremely polite & provide terrific service. We had the Morning Delight 2 of the 3 days & had the...ham & cheese omelet as well. I have to say, the scrambled eggs were absolutely the best we've ever tasted. The ham was delicious, not too salty, very tender. The bakery area is outstanding. We agreed that the apple fritters were by far the best we've had, but the Snickers cheesecake, the cannoli & the breads/rolls were amazing as well. It's not easy to find good, quality German food & breads anywhere in the south, but Hofer's is in a class all their own. Truly not to be missed!;More
Thank you Dave for the great review. We really appreciate it and hope to see you again soon!
A very lovely store with a bakery and restaurant. Everything was delicious! The German coffee was the best I’ve ever had.
Thank you Tina!!! We hope to see you again soon.
We stopped here for our first breakfast experience in Helen, Georgia. The food options were different and varied, and very good. I do believe they tried to be very celiac friendly, but did not turn out so. While it was not a horrible reaction -it...was one all the same. Therefore, if you have a celiac allergy, be careful what you order. Waitress was very friendly, welcoming, and super nice. Tried to be very helpful and attentiveness was greatly appreciated Service was definitely a plus of this visit. Not to mention the coffee was amazing! The bakery goodies looked absolutely yummy, but we did not have the opportunity to try them out today.More
I am part of a group of car enthusiasts, who have been invading Helen since about 2007,..,We come to Helen, every year.,same month, same weekend, and I'm sure we contribute something to the economy of the town..We also have raffles/bingo to make a donation to...a local group every year...I think last year it was well north of 4K.. We have a few members of the the group that have Trained Certified Service Animals.. They have been INSIDE of Hofer's over the years without incident. You wouldn't know they are there. February, 2022 was different. One of our group was denied entrance into Hofer's with their Certified Service Animal. but allowed to eat OUTSIDE in the plastic tented area...When other members of the group, including myself, found out what was going on, we chose to eat outside ..However, we had to order our food to go, which cost more, and many of the orders were mixed up..I couldn't get a 2nd cup of coffee to save my life.. I am recommending to all the members of my group to Boycott Hofer's for the February 2023 event..Meanwhile, I will checking the code with the State of Georgia to find out what the official regulations are..More
Hello Fran Orobello - I find it very strange that it took you a year to rise up and slander my business on social media and on review sites. I think that if this had actually happened, it would have been brought to our (my)...More
Everything we had was just ridiculous good but you have to be there on line before they open to get what you want. I imagine that's the point to run out of thing sand keep them fresh but the selection narrows the later you get...on lineMore
Great Food, Great location! Staff was helpful, was seated right away. OVERALL AWESOME FOOD AND GREAT STAFF
We waited in line over an hour for breakfast to be told it was over and that lunch wasn’t going to be available for 2-3 hours. Needless to say we paid for our coffee and left. If anyone had warned us, or put out a...sign, then that’d be on us, but they just let us and a line of patrons wait with no warning.More
Sorry that you didn't understand when we serve meals. We do have it posted on the front door. The switch over from breakfast to lunch can sometimes be a little confusing and stressful, but we do try to do our best. This usually takes about...More
I only have this four stars because of the wait. It is very small, so it takes a while to be seated. The food was good, but I’m not sure it was really worth the wait. I had the Belgium waffle with pecans. As stated...before it was good, but not outstanding. I thought the food at the Alpine Cafe was betterMore
They stop serving breakfast at 11 am and a line forms to get seated but it goes fairly quickly. We still managed to order what we intended to get for breakfast because Potato Pancakes are on the menu as side orders so we weren't disappointed....Everything was delicious and our waitress was super friendly!More
Closed Wednesday and Thursday but online it doesn’t mention that. They’re losing a lot of business. Saw about 3 cars leave the parking lot after realizing they’re closed at that was at 10am.More

We arrived just after 10:30am to a line out on the sidewalk. We took this as a good sign. After two groups ahead of us left and we were approaching the bottom of the stairs I could barely make out a sign on a chair...three groups ahead of us. It said breakfast was over and lunch would start shortly. There was a man moving the chair up the line with him. There had been no announcement to those waiting at all. I was ready to leave but my wife insisted that we stay in line and have lunch. At 11:40 the chair reached the front and they stopped seating people. At 11:55 they announced seating for lunch would begin at 12:20. At 12:35 we were seated. My wife ordered the cooked veggies which were under cooked. When the waitress asked how everything was my wife had a full mouth and made the “so so” motion with her hand. The waitress said “oh good” and walked away. This was three hours of consistent disappointmentMore
After reading TA reviews decided to go for breakfast. When we pulled into parking lot behind store only one car. On back door saw a permanent sign stating closed on Wednesday and Thursday. No mention on their website. Saw other people stopping by as well....So went to another place in town for a delicious hearty breakfast.More

Every time we’ve been to Hofers, it’s been excellent. This past afternoon was no exception. Our server was as kind as can be, and the food was delicious. And the prices are nice as well! If you want good German food, or just any good...food, Hofers is a must-visit restaurant. As a matter of fact we’re coming back tomorrow afternoon!More
I've only been here twice, during Oktoberfest in 2017 and 2022. They open at 8:00, and the line will be out the door and down to the street . The dining room is small, so the rotation of tables takes a while. The breakfast is...worth it though, and the pastries, cakes, etc from their bakery are phenomenal. The service is always friendly and prompt. Some of the servers wear the traditional German attire, which I think is a really nice touch. I highly recommend this as a destination meal if you're in the Helen area for any of their great events.More
