I came to Helen to visit for Mother's Day weekend and came here on Friday and had such a good experience with the friendly staff and musician outside that we decided to go back the next day for an early dinner! Great food and they have options of traditional American cuisine and German cuisine! It was a really great restaurant... More

The Schwein Haxen is huge! It is terrific. I have had several other main courses there over the years and each and everyone is great. The red cabbage and potato salad is the best in town!

We made the mistake of going to this place based on a recommendation from the front desk person at our hotel. The service was really slow even thought there were not many people at the time we went. Our waitress was a nice person but she did not know the menu or the drinks the restaurant carries. The food came... More

Have your kids bring their water shoes and enjoy some relaxation eating German fare by the Chattahoochee River. Our boys had a BLAST playing in the river and it's honestly the safest water-play area that I found in Helen. We have started a tradition that I aim to repeat...

This restaurant is decorated to look like a pub American GIs might have visited in Germany during WWII. It has some military paraphenalia, old posters, etc, but the best parts are the food and view of the river right outside the large windows. We enjoyed the 'Schlachthaus Platter for Zwei', or Butcher Shop Platter for Two. This was made up... More

Horrible experience. Food is very over priced for what you get. Tasted terrible. I had the German meat balls with sourkraut and potato salad. I ate maybe 15% of my dish. I couldn't stomach it. I'm nauseous writing this. We ordered gulash as an appetizer and it came out about a minute before our entrees. Our server commented that they... More

This is a tourist restaurant in Helen. We had dinner here on a family trip to the area. We had the sausage plate, schnitzel and pork shops. The taste was just ok, a little too salty. The sausage taste just like frozen sausage from a regular supermarket. The German beer always taste fresh and great though.
