Good home-cooked breakfast and lunch. The buttermilk biscuits taste great but lack the crisp browning around the exterior because they are made in a pan and sliced into squares. The vegetables at lunch are particularly good. Come here when you want a home-cooked, southern meal. Nice people, sometimes they get busy.

The restaurant is in the older part of Gainesville and was easy to find. The Lunch was good and came out in reasonable time. The owner checked to make sure everything was how we liked it. Our dishes were cooked just right and we will be back again.

Had lunch with my wife and decided to try new place. I had beer battered fish and she had corned beef with cabbage. All were very good, but French fries were not good. Other sides were excellent and the service was really good. I would go again. Overall good experience.

First visit to this historic cafe, located near the old Gainesville Railroad Station. This old Diner is reminiscent of yesteryear, with some counter dining, booths, and several tables. We were welcomed on entering and seated, served coffee, and our order taken by a nice server. Since they serve breakfast until 1500 hours, my wife and I chose breakfast versus lunch.... More

Ordered the western omelette and I asked what was in it and the answer was "meat". It was good and was later confirmed to be Philly Cheesesteak. Everything else was to be expected except they didn't have ham. They did however offer Bologna for my friends omelet. The food was pretty good, but I took a long time 20 minutes... More

What a little treasure in historic downtown Gainesville. This is definitely where the locals go, everyone who walks in was greeted by name. I was there with four of my girlfriends after attending a plant sale in the area. The blue plate luncheon special was fried chicken with two sides. Three of my friends had that, and it looked delicious.... More

Best time to hit this little joint by the tracks is early morning when the silverbacks gather before work. If you want to see a who's who among Gainesville's aristocracy, this is the place to do it. Biscuits bigger than ol' Flex Musclechest's far-more-colossal-than-average fists, too.

Our first choice was closed, so a friend suggested having breakfast at Big Bear. It's a simple throwback style diner, which could mean what it lacks in decor, it makes up for in food. No such luck. Breakfast choices are a la carte, meaning you pay for each egg, each piece of bacon, each addition (like cheese, onions, etc.). I... More

It's good BBQ , but very sparsely done restaurant. Haven't been there recently. Out of the way, not in area where I travel very much.

Great comfort food including everything from warm soup, burgers, cassaroles and yummy homemade vegtables and the prices are especially great! Eat here often and enjoy it each time!
