Not sure what other people think is overpriced, but I wonder if they have been to any other seafood restaurants that are inexpensive? Maybe Captain D’s, but that is all processed food. We are talking about the freshest seafood restaurant ever! They catch and bring it in FRESH from the coast daily and the taste certainly is proof. Go to Red Lobster and see how you like their prices and taste. For the quality that you get here, none compares! The friendly service and the knowledgeable staff are amazing and you will be sure to see the owner working alongside the staff. The atmosphere is casual, sure, but it is always clean and with a family of five we never have to worry about finding something we each like. I highly recommend Atlanta Highway Seafood!!!

This the only place we eat at when in Gainesville. It is about a hour from our house but worth the trip. We had tilapia, shrimp, oysters, scallops, green beans, beans and rice, and gumbo. We wanted to take home clam chowder but they did not have any available. We had to wait for a table and they seated us by the door to go outside and it was so cold every time the door opened. We will be back but will wait for a better table selection.

Wow - this is a fantastic place to have fresh seafood.... 2nd time to visit this restaurant. Small, no frill restaurant that adjoins a fresh seafood market. If we lived closer to this town, we would be purchasing fresh seafood every day. We had fried shrimp and oyster platter..... very good. Also bowl of gumbo Very tasty We highly recommend this establishment

I had read and heard about this place, but Covid shut it down this year and I had not ever made the trek until today, so this was my first trip. Just some things to know since the reviews are very loaded toward excellent just so you know before you go: 1) This is an order at the counter, pay before you eat, and get your own drink kind of place. A huge board is on the wall to choose items from. Big selection! You get a number and your food is brought to you if you dine in. 2) Seating is on outdoor type black wrought iron chairs and tables. 3) Seating is limited, some indoor and some on a covered patio. 4) This is a busy place for to go orders and dine in. 5) You can get a very large assortment of seafood, and you can get it grilled or fried which is really nice. 6) It is not in the most desirable location, it is behind a laundromat. I rate it very good, but just know this isn't a fine dining type of place and you pretty much wait on yourself. The servers will help you, and you can leave a tip in the jar on the counter or on your credit card slip, they split the tips, so it helps them all.

We haven't been back to this restaurant since Covid 19 took over. We are waiting for our second vaccine and we will celebrate it finally at Atlanta Highway Seafood! We are very picky about our seafood and really question what in the world could have happened for anyone to say such unbelievably negative things about this place! Our only complaint is the lack of seating due to regulars from way too many towns! We always go early. If it is so bad, why in the world would all those people be standing in line around the building waiting for nasty food? When we finally get to go back...I will let you know if it is still the best seafood around, or I'll blast them. I know how often they travel south to buy fresh U.S. seafood, and I know their work ethic, so I doubt the review will change. I would encourage those negative visitors to visit early to avoid frustrating lines! We've never had anything we didn't like.

This is a combination small fresh seafood market and restaurant. The prices are very reasonable, the food was very good. My wife ordered fried scallops and shrimp, I had fried oysters and shrimp. Both entrees had 6 very large shrimp plus 6 large scallops or oysters. The entrees came with fries, cole slaw and hush puppies. I know we won't hesitate to stop there again if we're in the area.

If you love seafood, you'll love this place. They know how to cook it. I find myself craving it quite often. It's hard to find a place this far from the coast that has seafood this good and fresh. You can buy it uncooked/fresh and take it home, stay and eat or get it cooked to go. It doesn't look like much from the outside and not even fancy inside but you WILL want to go back and eat there again. It's a local favorite and I wish I lived a little closer to it! My daddy, RIP, was an avid deep-sea fisherman and could cook it really well, too. He also loved thos restaurant! Look at the smile on his face in the pic. He had a whole Pompano fried and ate every morsel at the age of 83 not long before he passed! My fav pic of him!

I can’t help but question the 5 star reviews! My sister and I ate here, since it’s rated the #1 restaurant in Gainesville on Trip Advisor. I very rarely write reviews, but if it’s a great place or a place to avoid, I will. I had the fried shrimp and scallops with cole slaw and French fries. Thank goodness for the French fries, because that’s what got my 1 star out of this review. They were very good! The scallops were cut in quarters, so I guess I can say I got 2 scallops. They were overcooked and chewy. The 6 shrimp were decent sized, but had a strange taste, as did the scallops. I’d guess it was the grease used to cook them in, and the breading didn’t do the shrimp any favors. My feelings are that people giving a 5 star review haven’t had really good seafood, so have no way to make a comparison! My recommendation is to avoid Atlanta Highway Seafood, unless you’re going to buy the seafood and cook it yourself!

This was our 2nd (and last) visit here. Since our first visit about 15 months ago: 1) the prices have gone up too much, even considering recent inflation guy at register (probably owner's son or family member) blamed the government. Yes, inflation is up, but the rate in the US is below Europe and much or the western world so our government is actually doing a better job than most! 2) the portions are smaller-we had similar dishes on prior visit and got much more 3) they now charge a 3.95% credit card fee-if I had realized this before paying, I would have deducted it from my tip, which was too high anyway for partial table service (order and pay at counter and then they do bring food to table) Also, their 3.95% fee is higher than most banks charge businesses to process credit cards so they are actually making a profit on this fee! Note: This restaurant charges a credit card fee of 3.95 %. By doing this, they are lowering the demand for those who use credit cards. Credit card users tend to spend more and tip better. When a fee is charged for this “convenience”, many people will go elsewhere, spend less, or even deduct the fee from their usual tip amount, which only hurts their hard working staff!. Since most of these places are not chain restaurants, they are only hurting themselves and their employees with these fees. Please charge fair prices to all based on your costs, including inflation, but don’t penalize your best clients with an “inconvenience” surcharge fee. It’s time for an Economics lesson! These are the main 3 factors and are intertwined. It may explain why there wasn't the long line, actually only 2 or 3 at most waiting to order, and many available tables, when we there this time. The location hasn't changed, but I wouldn't want to be there after dark! There are many other places with decent seafood at better prices without abusing the middle class customers. We went twice but never again. I would even eat at a Red Lobster before I would return here!!!

We finally got here on one of our stays at the Hilton Garden Inn nearby. We will be back on every future stay, if possible. We got there and parked in a spot that had something about Laundry only so I moved to another one that wasn't labeled so we didn't have to worry about being towed, but I saw no cars towed and many were parked in the laundry spots. We arrived just in time as after I ordered I looked back to a line out the door. We started with fried clams and calamari appetizers which we split. We both got the seafood platter: one was broiled everything and mine was broiled shrimp and fish but fried oysters. The broiled oysters have a weird texture so I highly recommend fried oysters over broiled. The shrimp and tilapia were fantastic broiled, and the fish had some onions included. Sides were fries and hush puppies. We both drank water, which was available from a fountain with easy refills. We got the last table in the inside dining area and saw many waiting for both inside and outside as we enjoyed our dinners. There was so much food that we asked for and received to go boxes to take what we couldn't eat, and we definitely ate them later so nothing went to waste! In conclusion so very good and reasonable prices. Arrive early as possible to get seating. I can't wait to return to try other dishes but no broiled oysters ever again-personal preference! Also great friendly, welcoming service with patience for those of us there for the first time. #1 for a reason!!!

Hands down the best seafood in the north Georgia! Fried or blackened, fresh flavors abound. They spend their effort on the food rather than ambience. The tacos and gumbo are outstanding. We have been coming here for four years and have never had anything that wasn’t superb. If there is a crowd, they will have you wait on benches down the hall until your food is almost ready. Service and quality way exceeds expectations from its appearances. There are many reason this restaurant succeeds and all of there are good!

My friends and I came here the other night for dinner. The menu was huge, and we all found something that peaked our interest. Everyone was very pleased with their dinner and was not only fully satisfied with what we ate, but also jealous of what everyone else got. As you can guess, we all plan to come back here again.

We have been coming here for years, great place, nice staff, and always busy; for lunch shoot for 11:20am or 1pm or after to have some space. They have outside tables with heaters not bad, but not like eating inside. Favorite dishes, appetizer fried clam strips, for a meal a bowl of gumbo or a blackened shrimp wrap, both great and either is more than a meal with that great appetizer;

I don't live here but I have visited Gainesville every month for the last six months on business. I make it a point to eat here at least once when I come. The seafood is always fresh, tasty, and cooked to perfection. I have only eaten in once and that was on their patio as I am not ready to dine it. I have ordered an taken it to my hotel. I have had their blackened dishes, fried dishes and baked dishes plus gumbo. All have been excellent. I am not fond of their cole slaw but really I don't like mayo based cole slaw so they get a pass on this. The staff has always been friendly and the food is ready when they say it will be ready. I will be eating there tomorrow night.

I ordered the popcorn shrimp with slaw, hush puppies and collard greens. Everything was cooked perfectly and the serving sizes were plentiful. I did not like the seasoning on the fried shrimp. I couldn’t tell if it was Cajun seasoning or something else with just a hint of heat. Several people were eating crawfish. So maybe we’ll try that next time. Also, this is a seafood market. Fresh fish is the first thing you see and smell when entering. Lots of people were buying the fresh seafood.
