I've been reading about this place for awhile, so I made my way out recently... I ordered the spicy diced chicken and the Eggplant with chili ash powder... Both arrived quickly, and were hot and fresh, and portions large... The flavor of both was huge,...and I had enough leftover for another nice sized meal. I will be coming back to sample some of their other items soon...More

I have now been here three times and every time the servers were friendly and smiling, the food was amazing and very reasonably priced. We always go home with leftovers. We drive 30 minutes to get there & it is well worth it. Incredible flavors....Be careful with 'spicy'....they are not kidding! Overall 5 stars!More

Visited the restaurant twice in 4 months and liked the authenticity of the items. We tried the Dan Dan Noodle, Cumin Lamb and Fried Fish Fillet with Numbing Ash and Pepper on our recent visit. We had tried more options on our first visit and...loved the restaurant overall. Excellent food and great service. Would definitely recommend trying it out if you like Chinese.More

Had the same experience as the last reviewer. Took a 30 min detour to eat here on an early Sunday evening. Restaurant only half full. I was told there would be a 30+ minute wait just to sit down somewhere. Lots of open tables. I...went next door instead where I was seated right away. This was my third time to try Masterpiece and my experience with service and food quality has deteriorated each time. They blew their last chance with me - never again.More

Out of the way restaurant in an industrial area. Reputedly it is the best in Atlanta in its category. The eggplant in garlic sauce was spectacular as were some other dishes but several were much too hot for us.

There are plenty of awards and articles on the passage into the restaurant. I would agree with all of their accolades. One negative for me was the salt and pepper squid which had a lousy taste and that is why I'm giving them 4 stars...instead of 5. The dumplings, eggplant, and Dan Dan noodles were terrific. I don't think you can get better in Atlanta. Friendly and helpful waitresses.IMore

My husband and I made a special trip up here from Midtown to have lunch on his day off. We had both read about this restaurant in magazine articles online and wanted to try some of the dishes that were written up. If we didn’t...get the exact items, we got something that was very close. Parking was easy as this restaurant is in a strip mall. Getting out of parking and going the direction you want to, however, can be a real trick. We were greeted right away and allowed to choose a booth. We had one server to start, then a second came to take our order. When we asked questions, she disappeared and yet a third server came out. I have the awful feeling we maxed out her knowledge of English...it was unintentional but we were trying to find items that were reviewed but (apparently) not named accurately in the magazine article we had. With the very kind help of our third and final server, we selected several dishes to try. We were prepared, and happy, to take leftovers home. We ordered (and I am going from memory as I cannot find a full-size readable menu online) the Boiled Fish in chili powder and ash powder; the deep fried eggplant in chili powder and ash powder; and the green beans with pork. We were offered bowls of Hot & Sour Soup, as it is free at lunch. It was delicious! We both LOVED the green beans. They came in a savory pork sauce which was absolutely delicious. We also inhaled the deep fried eggplant! It was SO so good! I would definitely order that FIRST the next time we go to Masterpiece. The eggplant was deep fried light and crispy with molten eggplant inside! The final dish delivered to our table was the Boiled Fish. Our server referred to it as a soup, but I would be careful about consuming too much of the “broth;” it seemed to be oil and chili peppers. She was also quite worried that it was over-spiced. It wasn’t, it was spicy but not mind-numbing. Taken with white rice, it was quite good. We took home green beans and boiled fish. We got quite a bit of excellent food for the money. Service was fast and very friendly. The restaurant was clean and had attractive photos hung around the edge of the seating area. The bathrooms were also quite clean. As we left, all of the servers said good bye to us. We will definitely be back!More

Our group of seven ordered different entree and we shared on lazy Susan table. Overall it was ok but not worth a return visit.
