Cakes and Ale has always been one of my favorite restaurants - and even with those high expectations it always exceeds them. The service is friendly, professional and top-notch. The food is excellent. This trip was no different except that the food seems to be getting even better. This most recent trip my wife and I brought our oldest son... More

Great food, no matter what we have ordered. I have been with my husband and with my grown children. Parking is the only downfall, as it can be packed in downtown Decatur at times.

It was a special occasion, and we (three of us, two female, one male) were looking for a restaurant we hadn't tried yet, but had wanted to. Decatur is full of great places to eat, and we'd seen Cakes and Ale often, but had never dropped in, so we decided to give it a try. All of our food was... More

I dined at this restaurant on a Thursday evening. It was not crowded but the service was slow. It took longer than average to receive our food. My friends shrimp was fishy and her snapper was only 2 ounces; obviously not worth the price. My pork loin was just average. The best thing we had was the Fromage Blanc. It... More

Stopped there Sunday morning for coffee and a breakfast bite. Empty table covered with plates - they managed to clear it (or from the adjoining empty table where I piled the stuff) about 25 minutes later (5 minutes after finally bringing our food). Very uncomplicated menu on Sunday - can choose egg muffin, bagel, or granola (or a yummy pastry)... More

Love this place!!! What a great assortment of desserts. We walked around Decatur after dinner and picked a dessert at the cafe. Tables inside or outside and very popular!!! Will have to go back for a sandwich during the day.
