Always great! Got the chowder for the first time. Excellent flavor. We ordered the fried shrimp… fresh off the boat. Kitchen sent more out because of the wait. Nothing beats GA shrimp for their sweet flavor. My hubby gorged himself on the shrimp, grits and...okra. He may explode! Oh and love the hush puppies too!More

We stop here on our return trips home to Saint Simons. Service has always been very good & food is good. We had not been here in 3 months. As we all know the food service industry is facing huge price increases. Unfortunately, the crab...cake @ Skippers is now mostly “fillers”. I’m not sure I have ever had crab cake that is filled with shredded cheese. Salads & other portions are now smaller. I would rather pay the price than have portions reduced. Lastly, management needs to keep the bathrooms clean! Thankfully service is still excellent.More

I had the crab cake and shrimp combo. I recommend the crab cake needs a little flavor. Add small amount of mayonnaise, Old Bay and Worcestershire sauce to make the crab cake yummy. The shrimp were small but very tasty. The baked potato was undercooked....The staff was very pleasant. We’ll go back - and give it another try.😀More

Skipper's had good food, but was a little pricey. One had the fried shrimp and loved it. I had the pork plate and the pork was terribly dried out...but that taste was good...just dredge it in the sauces and all is good.

Not sure if it was because of covid recovery or staff shortage but I was expecting a little better food quality. The brunswick stew had a really sweet taste. But will go back because I understand that sometimes things happen but everything else was good,...Shrimp and oysters were great!More

We try to get here every year when we come to Brunswick. Only a 10 minute wait today. Server was super nice and very good. Food was wonderful. I had a broiled shrimp platter. Was so good. My partner had the Captains platter. He really...enjoyed it. We will be back.More

So good! I had the filet mignon and my husband had the captain's seafood platter, with sides of sweet potato souffle and collards. That filet was the best I have ever had, seasoned well and grilled just right. My husband ate every scrap of his...platter so it must have been good! Service was excellent. If you go on Saturday night, be prepared for a wait for a table in the restaurant, but you can always go over to the oyster bar. We ate outside on the deck behind the bar and it was lovely.More

Once upon a time there was a great seafood restaurant in Darien named Skipper's Fish Camp. Sadly, it's moved down on our list of places to dine along the Georgia seacoast. We've been huge fans of Skippers for years. It's reputation has grown along with...the lines an wait for a table -- all good but sometimes frustrating aspects of writing good reviews of restaurants combines with local word of mouth. Recently, we visited Skippers twice in one week. Our first visit on a Saturday afternoon arrival at 2:30 required a 40 minute wait. Once seated, we all ordered the fried shrimp platter. The shrimp were good, but it seemed to us that it wasn't as tasty as it had been in the past. I'm not sure if they changed the breading or cooks, but it simply wasn't as good as we had recalled. Our boast to friends and family had previously been that it's the best fried shrimp we could find in the area. That is no longer true. Fast forward to our lunch there later in the week. That Thursday, we returned and once again order fried shrimp. I don't know what happened, but the shrimp was not good -- normally the meat easily pulls away from the tail. This was not the case this time. Furthermore, the shrimp was almost tasteless and bland. It appeared to us that either the shrimp wasn't fresh or that it had been overcooked. The breading also lacked flavor. The mark of great restaurants is the ability to sustain all the goodness over time. In this case, we found the quality of food to have taken a step back. We will probably try Skippers once again on our next trip to the area, but in hindsight, it wasn't worth the wait as we experienced this time around. We recognize that the pandemic has been challenging to the restaurant industry and perhaps Skipper's is yet another "victim" of those circumstances.More

Stopped in on our way home from a trip to Florida, and glad we passed by all the fast food places. Crab stew was delicious! House salad was generous and filled with lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, cheese and bacon bits and croutons. My husband ordered the...shrimp and grits blackened. The grits were a disappointment, but the shrimp was good and covered with cheese. Hush puppies were very good and onion rings were delicious.More

The very best crab cake I have ever had in my life. Not oily, filled with shells or laden with filler. A must order. The gator tail /bites are tender, breaded perfect and made me wanna order a second round. Shrimp Boat enough to feed...two. Crab Stew did not disappoint. If you somehow don't end up with a hushpuppy while there, ASK to try one.More

Stopped by here for first time on the way to Florida. I am sure I will be back. The shrimp were delicious. I was concerned that the breading on the fried shrimp would be heavy but trusted the server’s recommendation and was glad I did....The breading was very light and cooked just right. The sides were great too.More
