On a Monday evening, while driving up I-95 and approaching dinner time, we saw a billboard and decided to check it out. Though we changed our minds about eating out on the deck when the mosquitos started coming out, this little place looks over the water and marsh; lovely views. Deciding to eat in the bar due to time, we enjoyed quick and efficient service and wonderful food (smoked chicken, pork ribs, okra, sweet potato souffle, grits). The only thing that I would ask for would be a cleaner ladies' room. These travelers hope to take another side trip to Skippers!

We ate at Skipper's recently and we were happy with the meal, service and physical restaurant. We sat on the outside deck in the bar section. The main restaurant is very nice with both venues overlooking the river. We had lunch; wife, oysters on the half shell. Me, oyster poboy. She was very happy with her oysters. I think the oyster poboy was one of the best poboys I have ever had. The oysters were moist, not greasy yet they had a nice light crunch. Pricing for sandwiches was very reasonable as was the price for the oysters on the half shell. I will definitely return for dinner, etc.

Our second visit in five years.....and my husband ordered the exact same thing! He remembered loving the crispy flounder and onion rings and they did not disappoint. I ordered the bbq chicken and it was quite good. This was our first time in a restaurant since the pandemic started and it was a nice experience to be out and about with other people enjoying themselves. A few tables have been removed to allow for safe distancing and all the staff wear masks. Hopefully we all get back to normal soon.

Terrible service and communication between bar staff and kitchen. 45 minute wait for their large shrimp platter for 2 to share was unacceptable and when they did finally serve the dinner the side dish was not even what we ordered. Funny, the server even told us shrimp take no time at all. Our server did apologize and another bar back offered to comp the dinner. Should have left this restaurant when an employee didn’t wash their hands in the bathroom and two employees were vaping inside the restaurant in the corner by the bathrooms. Should have left this restaurant when we asked 4 times for someone to check on our order.

We stayed in Darien for a week and several people told us to try Skippers Fish Camp as it was the best around. We were seated right away. The restaurant was nice but old. The shrimp was very chewy and the cole slaw had much too much mayonaise. My wife had the brisket which was extremely dry. Service was ok but the prices were very high, with tip our lunch bill was $64.00 without alcoholic drinks. Not a place I would recommend to go.

I ordered 2 items. The first, BBQ and collards was outstanding. I practically licked the platter clean. I also ordered Brunswick Stew which is described as a hearty mix of pork, chicken and a southern tomato based veggie mix. I got a bowl of very dried pulled pork and beans with some corn. I couldn’t find any chicken. As I read the description I thought that I would get chunky pieces of pork and chicken in a stew type tomato mix with vegetables. I should have asked but.....

We had dinner here a few days ago. Nice ambiance and good food. My wife had fried shrimp and I had combo platter of fried shrimp and fried oysters - both were excellent. Nice service and great location. we will be back.

I took my sister who was celebrating her 80th birthday and some of the family to Skippers on Saturday Oct 3rd. We have been there many times over the years, but what made this truly special was our server Lisa. Lisa was maybe the best server we have ever had. She was warm, friendly and attentive. She even spent a little time with my sister listening to her stories of getting married in Darien over sixty years ago and moving into the little house where the Blue Bay Grill is now. She was all around terrific and we just wanted to say thank you for helping make my sisters 80th special.

Location is great. Kids loved it. Food was just ok. I got blackened scallops. They were undercooked, swimming in watery spiced water and mushy. I got nauseous actually and only ate 2. Disappointing. But the location was really cool. Our server was super slow so my kids had to be entertained a lot to keep them from whining at how long everything took. Waited 15 minutes for our initial drinks! Good to go once. Won’t be back.

First, our server gets five stars. Austin is awesome! On a busy day, he took the time to separate tables for us to be able to sit outside. Bonus stars to him for putting us on the side of the deck that didn’t get wet when a downpour occurred shortly after we arrived. Our party of four had fried pickles (weird, but good), fish and grits, oyster hoagie, the Pig Pickin’ sandwich, and a crab cake sandwich, three with house salads. The house salad dressing is fantastic, creamy, oniony, sweet. Everyone liked their meal, with no complaints. The fried okra was a great option as a side, especially when I’ve ordered a shockingly large crab cake sandwich…

Both my wife and I loved the crab cake combo with soft shell crab. Both perfectly lightly fried, each had its own distinct taste. Too bad soft-shelled crabs are only sometimes in season, but whole meal worth the trip off of I95. The sides are also exceptionally good. With two sides each, we sampled four altogether, Mac n’cheese, coleslaw, okra, and onion rings - all four delicious. Both mains come with hush puppies and both tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. Carley was our delightful server, with her helpful, friendly chirp and her beautiful smile. The setting is a rural fish dock. Parking is at the door. Prices are reasonable. An experience of Southern fried seafood at its best!

For years people have said to give this place a try....Pretty much the worst seafood I have ever eaten. The scallops and oysters were wet and soggy. Never order the macaroni... it was dry and chewy and the grand babies refused to touch it. Shocking bad.

Skipper’s overlooks the beautiful Darien waterfront. We watched a beautiful sunset from the bar side porch. We shared the spicey grilled shrimp and an order of homemade onion rings. Our only regret is that we did not visit Skipper’s a second time during our short three day visit. We highly recommend both the shrimp, the onion rings, the staff, and atmosphere of Skipper’s.

We saw a road sign on I 95 in Georgia and found the restaurant on the waterfront. Small town but the parking lot was full at 5:30 pm. We were quickly seated and were brought water immediately. The menu was chucked full of seafood with much fresh off the boat. The grouper special was grilled filets which were four good pieces that were delicious! A fresh garden salad and a huge baked potato. My husband had fried oysters and my daughters steamed oysters were huge as well. They both had a cup of crab stew with lots of huge lumps of crab. The place had a southern charm with very friendly staff. If you pass the area don’t miss this jewel.

Went to Skipper's Fish Camp for an eat and greet among family. We were able to meet on the covered deck so there was plenty of room to distance us from others. The food and service was very good and we never felt rushed to get through. Prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area. We will return on our next trip there.
