This charming wine and cheese shop was recommended by a friend when she heard of our trip. She was right! Locals gather at the end of the day, either inside at the bar or at the front street side seating. You can order a nice glass of wine or beer while enjoying local conversations or purchase a bottle of wine to enjoy at home. If you need gourmet cheeses to go with your wine, there is a large collection along with meats and seafood for home preparation.

This is not really a restaurant. The front is a store with great wine prices, unique cheese/meat and snack items. The back is a friendly atmosphere wine bar with a $10 flight of fruity wines. We liked the Florida Joe. Relax and enjoy conversation in a cozy hideout. Look for the owner’s picture worth $1 million. He is also very knowledgeable regarding wine.

After a day of touring around Darien, we ended up at Waterfront, pulled up barstools and enjoyed a nice refreshing adult beverage - I had a draft and she had a wine, actually we each had two. Plus the cheese plate. Good conversation with others at the small bar (cribbage players on one side) it was just the right scene before heading to dinner. An oasis that adds a satisfying touch.

You can purchase wine beer and gourmet food here but the hidden gem is the wine bar in the back. Wine slushies on a hot day beer on tap and wine and beer. The staff is excellent and the folks here are a treat. Even if you aren’t from here everyone is welcome and welcomed.

I have to be honest and say, I have never been to The Waterfront Wine and Gourmet. We have past it several times going to a restaurant we go to whenever we are in the area. I want to tell you, if you like wine and enjoy sitting watching the world go by THIS IS THE PLACE TO DO IT! This place makes me want to start drinking wine. It looks comfortable and laid back. Dog friendly in the outside seating area. It reminds me of the little cafes in New Orleans and France. Beautiful setting under the shade of the trees. I may have to stop in and try a little of the peach wine they advertise.

In the front ...a massive selection of wines...from all over. I would suppose you could buy a bottle and sit out on the patio and indulge (I don`t know). For the travelers through the area the website is a bit deceiving with the photos. They would imply there is food to order but there is nothing prepared on-site to serve. Any food is for take away to prepare at your abode. Great for the locals!!!
The actual `hidden gem`is through a small corridor at the back which leads into a beautiful wine (and beer...) bar. Shout out to the lovely CHLOE who will provide the nectars to slake your thirst.

The wine bar was highly recommended by the owners of our Inn (Darien Waterfront Inn). Staff at the bar were knowledgeable of various wines and service was excellent.

I stopped here for lunch the food was really well cooked and the service was good. I had the shrimp salad blackened, very tasty on a bed of spinach and iceberg lettuces. I would definitely come back to this place.

Great place, very friendly with excellent selection of beer and wine. Overall a wonderful experience with strangers who made us feel like locals. Please don't visit, would hate to see the place get crowded or over run!! ;>))
