The rooms are interesting and offer a diverse selection of layouts. We had guests stay at the Smith house and they were quite pleased.

I love the Smith House. The food is served "family" style in bowls and platters that are passed around the table so that each person can take as much or as little as they want. The quality of the food is absolutely superb. Each diner is served at least two entrees and all of the vegetables are freshly prepared in... More

The price is definitely fitting of the food. Nothing that is served on the menu is bad. All the food is great. Very filling and pleasant staff.

The Smith House in Dahlonega is a hotel and restaurant near the center of town. They are noted for having a gold mine shaft within the building. The shaft, according to history … or whomever you talk to … was made within the building to hide it from the Yankees, federal tax “revinuuers”, yada yada. But it does look suspiciously... More

My best friend and I decided to spend the night here so we could day trip in Dahlonega. What a fabulous find. The kind proprietor even made room for our air mattress! Slept very soundly..Very nice room.

Visited again after many years. Same delicious country food. Vegetables and they do bring you quite a variety always best. Preferred fried chicken to ham or beef. Good coffee too. Dessert included was strawberry shortcake made from frozen berries I believe. Arrived just before closing but service was pleasant and unhurried. Smith House offers kids meal price under certain age.... More

Good home style dining, good overall. However, I tend to expect a lot from a place when people recommend it as great southern food. The two times that I ate lunch here it was not particularly great and it seemed overpriced. Not as compelling as the Dillard House in Dillard, Georgia.

Our family has been eating here for years & it used to be one our favorites. This past time (last Tues. at lunch time) it just wasn't the same & for the price ($16.04 each, which included tax but not tip) it just didn't measure up! The fried chicken, which is usually very good, was so greasy we had to blot... More

We went to celebrate my birthday. This is served family style and all you can eat. They start you with bread and cinnamon rolls, then the main course. The menu was roast, fried chicken, ham slices, Mac & Cheese, corn, green beans, collards, mashed potatoes, gravy, and fried okra. For dessert was strawberry short cake. So delicious and will return.

DELICIOUS is the perfect word here. Not fancy but certainly not a dive either. Wonderful history to go along with the food. Was more than we could eat..sort of. We didn't finish all the main dishes but had seconds on dessert. Friendly staff and well paired choices. Love it. It is like they bring the buffet to you!! It may... More
