Someone had told us about going to this place so we tried it. We went for New Year's Day lunch/supper. I am so glad we had not had lunch because they brought out so much food!! And everything we ate was delicious! And even though they didn't show black-eyed peas and greens on their menu - they had it for... More

Pay one price and you are seated at large tables family style while bowls and plates of fresh cooked vegetables and meat are brought to the table. Included are fried chicken, ham and roast beef plus plenty of vegetables and bread to go with it. Fried chicken, greens, and pole beans were especially well done. Plenty of food, so be... More

The down-home food is served family style. The menu varies, so be sure to check the website or call in advance. Many weekdays they close between lunch and dinner, so be sure to double check their hours. Until recently, the large tables would seat different parties, and it was always interesting to talk to everybody if they seemed inclined. Now... More

Stopped in to The Smith House for lunch with family the day after Christmas. Service was pretty poor, waitress brought drinks, then food but never checked on us again. Our group needed more food, finally came back and said I'll clean these plates up, we were like can we get more chicken and okra. I'm from South Georgia where the... More

I am so sorry your visit with us was not up to your expectations. Normally we are closed on Mondays and being such a dreary day, we figured not a huge crowd. That was not at all the case. I was on the floor that day and remember servicing your table. I would like to have spoke with you on... More

Stopped in for a little something different for lunch and was not disappointed. Comfort food in family-style dining.

We had a group of nine for lunch on New Year's Day and were seated quickly. The food was wonderful, hot, and fresh. The service was very pleasant and kept everyone's drinks filled. I don't know why we haven't come here more often but this will become a tradition.

I went there today with my wife for lunch. You pay before entering the dining room. It was a very pricey lunch. We paid and went downstairs to the dining room. We were the only ones there. We arrived at 12:15 and left at 12:50. Not a single other person came in the whole time we were there. Food is... More

I've heard about how great it is, my first impression was memorable. My friend and I sat at the opposite end of the table from where the waitress brought the food. The people closest to the waitress were rather large, the platters were empty before they got to us. We didn't get chicken, potatoes or okra. I complained to the... More

We LVOE some family style cooking and The Smith House is just that. Come hungry and leave full as a tick! Reminds me of Sunday dinners after church in days past.
