Really enjoyed our dinner with friends. Good location in Blue Ridge in a classic old bank building. Food was delicious and cocktails were very good. Only negative was due to a very loud table near us that made the atmosphere less enjoyable, but no fault...of the restaurant. Otherwise, would have been 5 stars.More

One of the better restaurants in Blue Ridge. Reservations for dinner are highly recommended as is going early to ensure the availability of the specials of the day (they were quickly selling out of the fresh oysters and scallops). Service was excellent-not too intrusive but...we never had to wait when we needed something. Tessa was awesome, making recommendations about the specials when asked. The bar was extensive and the drinks well made. Overall, a great dining experience. We will return because there were other dishes on the regular menu we want to try. Only complaint is the acoustics of the building made it loud when there were more diners, so if you're looking for a quiet, romantic evening, this might not be the place.More

We ordered takeout and the food was ready right on time. The food was very good, some of the best in Blue Ridge. We got the ribeye w/ curry rice and mashed potatoes and also the pork chop with seasoned vegetables (broccoli). We also got...the corn bread app. Our only complaint(s) include: 1. Missing side Caesar salad, which was a $2 up charge. Didn’t realize this was missing until we made it back to the cabin. 2. The sides were not in their own individual to-go containers. Other steakhouses always keep sides in a separate container away from the meat. This left the steak flavor on the mashed potatoes and rice. This would easily be a 4 star review, otherwise.More

May family and I made a reservation online. We arrived and didn’t have to wait to be seated. I ordered a caesar side salad and burger with white cheddar potato croquettes, which was delicious. Usually, a burger’s a burger, but it was juicy, thick, cooked...medium well, and had a yummy garlic aioli sauce. The croquettes were amazing, and if you’re wondering what that is, it’s like fried, mashed potatoes. The outside was crunchy, with a sour cream and chive drizzle on top. Yum!!! My husband ordered Shrimp and Grits which he loved. My daughter ordered a kids cheeseburger. One of the highlights was the Pumpkin Bread Pudding with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. It was a top 10 best desserts I’ve ever had. Overall, great casual dining and I would recommend for a night out in downtown Blue Ridge.More

The food just wasn’t good. Everything seemed sorta amateurish. My pork chop was undercooked and had very little flavor. My child’s grilled cheese was not cooked. The cheese wasn’t melted. My wife’s Reuben was fair. I did have a good pear martini. Our waitress was...decent but seemed very busy. No chance I would go back.More

We were visiting from Savannah, GA and celebrating a birthday. To start with, the bartender (wish we had obtained his name) was very personable which made for a wonderful dinner at the bar. It is not very often that when requesting a glass of wine...that one is offered a tasting prior to ordering. Normally that occurs if a bottle is ordered. Yes, our ID's were requested and we obliged (we are in our 70's) as we respect and understand the legal liabilities associated with owning a bar/restaurant. Terrific choice of music, lovely ambiance, efficient warm service. We shared a delicious field greens, goat cheese salad and thoroughly enjoyed a Reuben Sandwich & Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich both accompanied by our choice of side. We would welcome General Ledger opening an eatery in Savannah !!!More

We enjoyed sitting in the main dining room at a table where we could watch football games (on the two tv screens above the bar) while eating dinner. Professional service. The crab cakes were good. The flounder special was outstanding, perfectly prepared and very generous...is size. They do require showing your license before ordering a drink. Reservations are recommended. We would return, especially for the flounder.More

General Ledger apparently has implemented a recent policy not to serve a drink to customers who don't have their driver's license available. As a local citizen, my wife rarely carries her purse when we visit downtown for dinner and the server refused to serve her...a glass of Chardonnay without identification. We then spoke to the Manager who was also obstinate in this position. Granted, if we were in our 20's, we would understand this position. However, we are in our 60's and this policy exceeds any common sense. If the server cannot ascertain a customer's age range, then a manager could easily accomplish that task. However, apparently General Ledger ownership does not trust its server's or manager's to make a common sense decision that a customer exceeds the age of 21 by a wide margin. We promptly left and walked to another close establishment, with actually better food, and enjoyed a great dinner there with wine. Our advice, look elsewhere first.More

Very good Rueben sandwich and burger. Our food was prepared perfectly and our server was very good. A little slow at getting our meal. They had live music on Sunday which was a treat. A lot of locals which tells me the restaurant must be...a favorite in town.More

Consistently great food and friendly service. Restaurant has a cool prohibition sort of feel to it. I Highly recommend the Trout and the Burger. Both are incredible! Also try the cornbread.. Its habit forming!!

The staff was so friendly and did an excellent job and the food was absolutely delicious! We both love to...cook so are particular to food when it comes to eating out and the General Ledger did not disappoint. Plus, it's in an old bank and the decor is wonderful! What a pleasant surprise . We went for lunch and everything was great ! Very good food , fairly priced in todays world with excellent service . Food was very well prepared and with someone with decades in food service I can tell you they...know what they are doing and no matter what you might order the food will prepared as expected and you will not be disappointed . With a excellent Rueben with homemade sauerkraut and crispy fries showed the skill in the kitchen . A nice Bloody Mary but just a little weak on the vodka but otherwise a repeat visit is in order . Excellent attentive but not overbearing service ...............A solid 5 stars are dueMore

We always enjoy eating at the General Ledger when we are in Blue Ridge. The trout is delicious. We had the blackberry cobbler with ice cream and it was also wonderful. Our server was very attentive and polite.
