We went to try this place for breakfast. Prepare for a wait, especially if you go on the weekend. We went during the week and waited for about 15-20 minutes, but it goes fast. There is also a nice little shop to walk around in...while you wait. When we sat down,we were greeted by multiple servers within a couple minutes of each other, just to make sure someone had been by to get drink order. Most meals include coffee or tea. I ordered the southern breakfast with biscuit and gravy. The country fried steak was so tender you could cut it with a fork. The gravy was just like my mom’s! Gravy was not floury tasting and nice pepper flavor. Also ordered the spiced apples which were cooked but still firm. So yummy! Everyone was very nice and helpful. Would love to try lunch the next time!More

This is an adorable place with great food and great service. The only problem is, I've been here twice and both time my food was served room temperature. I have to remind myself to request hot food next time. I did ask to have my...biscuits and gravy nuked, but they still came back only Luke warm. Otherwise this place would 5 star.More

This is the kind of place you might not find if you are just visiting as it is not in the center of town. We were brought there by long time locals. But, we’ve been back several times since. Nice breakfast and a little gift...shop where you can find something to bring home. Recommended.More

Atmosphere is great. Can't say anything good about their gravy. It's nothing but flour, no flavor at all. Visited over 3 times & each time it's been bad. It's not just a one time fluck. When the owner receivesa bad review he comes back with...snarky comments. Tells customers he's glad if they don't come back leaves more room for other customers (this is one comment). Go to their facebook page & look for 3*'s reviews. I can't comment on the other food, .More

Found this online, knowing in advance we were coming to the area. When we checked into our hotel, the young lady at the front desk confirmed that it was her favorite place for breakfast! It did not disappoint! The biscuits were outstanding! The eggs were...cooked to perfection and the country ham was as good as I have had anywhere else! My wife’s French Toast was really good (according to her)! The staff was great and really friendly! We will definitely return the next time we are up this way!More

This is becoming a regular stop for us when in town, and it should be for you as well. Can't say enough great things about this spot. Great food, it's always hot and delicious. Service is certainly the southern charm you expect. It was quite...busy this time around for just a Wednesday am, but only have to wait about 15 minutes. Just sit back on the front porch rockers and enjoy the mountain air.More

The place was packed for lunch on a weekday. We waited about 20 min and were seated at the bar which was okay for us. The menu is limited and for a farm to table restaurant, I expected more variety than burgers and sandwiches. My...husband and I both got the brisket sandwich. I really didn’t want the bread and had wished it was just brisket. The sandwich had about 6 brisket pieces that were melt in your mouth tender. The BBQ sauce was tangy and delicious. It came with a small cup of coleslaw, which was about 3 bites. Nothing special. The fries were average. The service was excellent and prices were reasonable. The gentleman sitting next to us highly recommended the meatloaf. Says its the best he has ever had.More

Sawmill was recommended by a friend who has a pretty high bar for restaurants. We were NOT disappointed.Even with a large Saturday a.m. crowd we only waited about 15 minutes. Our order was taken promptly, & food showed up quickly. Everything was cooked perfectly. We...will be back whenever we are in the Mts. EXCELLENT!!More

I choose to eat plant- based to reduce cholesterol, and I thought this would be a great restaurant since they offer local farm- fresh items. I tried to choose items that would be plant- based but was told “no substitutions.” My options were limited. They...were very busy, so the server was a little rushed. The food was super yummy, but even the grits have dairy. ☺️More

Farm fresh and plant-based aren't really the same concept. We locally source eggs, grits, sausage, omelet vegetables, buttermilk, beef, chicken and more but none of that would help someone on a plant-based diet. We advertise a purely and nostalgically Southern inspired menu. You would have...More

We used a lot of whole foods sourced locally from Union County Farms. There is not a GF or V menu per se, but its pretty easy to put things together to meet your requests:)
