My veteran had a 2 hour appt. at VA and was hungry. He ordered coconut shrimp, which was burnt, had a teaspoon of Cole slaw, and 2 burnt hush puppies. This order was to go. They would not give him a military discount. When we...used to come here, and bring our friends, the portions were normal. No one has ever been friendly here, and we are done!! Not coming back. Sadly, Captain D's has better food, at a better price.More

We have always loved our food at Mikes but last evening was not as good. My grilled jumbo shrimp was overcooked and my husbands fried shrimp was not good. Fried flounder, and sides were okay. I'm not sure if kitchen was short staffed or change...in cooks but not as good as other visits.More

Ok, most folks realize that places are short staffed these days and there will, most likely, be a wait. We have been to this restaurant a few times and, yes, the lines have always been LONG. We dined here Thursday evening and the line was...not especially long- we were able to enter the restaurant as soon as we got there. We noticed that there was one person taking orders. After EACH and EVERY order, she left the register to go place the ticket in the cook’s line and rearrange the existing tickets. Back to the register, the next order was taken and then……..she left to go back to take the ticket to the cook line…….. Does this process seem to be efficient? On a positive note, the food was very good…..I had the fried shrimp and my husband had the Captain Platter. The beer was ice cold and refreshing. We were asked if we wanted hush puppies and said YES…..but…..they were not present with our order. We did tell the man (who looked like the manager) but he never did appear at our table again….. Bottom line…….If you like lines and are not exceptionally hungry, this is the restaurant for you! The ordering process really needs to be improved.More

Super nice people, maybe a family business. Very very busy place even on a Tuesday evening. Arrived around 5:45 p.m.- they open at 5:00. Stood in line about 45 minutes to order then waited another 30 minutes for dinner. Mostly good, very large portions. Apparently...oysters are salty this time of year. Atmosphere was casual and friendly. Not sure if it was worth the wait. Maybe order something different next time and arrive earlier or order for pick up. Really want to like this place.More

I am from Boston which is known for seafood. My husband and I had lunch at Mike's. Not only does Mike talk to us about how he gets fresh seafood when we were placing our order but he goes to each table to check on...the diners and rhe food. We ordered shrimp and Mahi Mahi Tacos and shared one of three with each other. The Tacos were HUGE filled with shrimp or fish and were the best we have had in years. The hushpuppies (I am a sucker for good hushpuppes) were yummy and when I told Mike, he brought me a few more!! I wish they were closer to home. Check them out you won't be disappointed.More

Interesting find in Blairsville. Very good seafood in a very casual restaurant. You order at the counter and they give you a vibrating devise and when it goes off you hold it up and a server brings your order to the table. Self serve drinks....We have had the Grouper broiled, Salmon broiled, Crab Cakes, Trout and all have been very tasty. All orders come with Hush Puppies, We like to get the fish as part of a salad but you can get it as a sandwich or dinner.More

My husband and I have been here twice. The first time it took along time to get our drinks and refills. The food was good and came out pretty quickly. My major complaint is when I pay between $15 -$20 for a meal I do...not want to order from a counter I want to be waited on. Both times we went was a Saturday evening and of course they were busy, so it took about 30 min before we could place our order. Part of that time was standing outside in the cold. I would rather have that time spent sitting a table with my guests enjoying a glass of wine and be waited on. I will be back because the food was very good but maybe on a weeknight when they are not as busy.More

Mikes has always been awesome, with fresh seafood, well prepared meals and large portions. However, the new owners have changed all that. Everyone in our group received food that was way overcooked, dry and hard, portion size has been greatly reduced and the recipe for...the cole slaw was drastically changed. It’s not the Mikes seafood that we are accustomed to dining at. Hope it improves or we won’t return.More

We went on a Monday evening around 7pm. It was just my husband and I. We are mid 50's and on a much need hiatus. I love seafood. There were about 4 customers in front of us and it about 5 mins get to place...our order!! There was a 3 specials that weren't listed on the menu but were listed on a poster board as you walked in. There was one for shrimp - All you can eat Either Fried, Boiled or Grilled for a reasonable price!! The place was very clean, casual, dining. They even offered a 10% discount for police, fire, military, and ems. The staff was awesome!! The manager, ? owner, Mike was all over the place and talking with customers, insuring folks were happy with meals. There was not a grumpy employee to be found!! The food - ohhh the food. It was great. Well seasoned, well cooked, not greasy, freshly prepared!! I have never been in a seafood restuarant with an all you can eat order was served and the server immediatly ask if you want a refill!! They brought a refill right away. I am not talking about 7 or 8 shrimps. I am talking 30 shrimp to start with!! You definitly got your moneys worth! I can only say most excellent seafood in casual dining atmosphere where you get your moneys worth!!More
