This is a very casual place, for very casual/local people to enjoy THE BEST FOOD this region can offer.
The specials of the day (seafood items) are amazing, of the highest quality and heavenly taste.
I cannot brag enough about the taste of all the food we tried.
Few observations:
Ambience” Casual places, do not dress up because they call it “Fine Dinning”, it is not.
Must make reservation on the phone.
Do Not Trust the wine list online… most probably you will not find your preferred listed wine when you sit down for the dinner. I highly recommend bringing your own wine, corkage fee is only $18. By the way, this restaurant is awarded “Award of Excellence” by Wine Spectator for its wine…. I am a sommelier myself, so the selection of wine (if they have it that day) is very good, not many options though, and decently priced. If I work for Wine Spectator, I would NOT award this restaurant for its wine, but I will recognize their culinary excellence.
Service could be slow during the busy hours.
We absolutely loved the food, and we will definitely EAT (not DINE) there again, and bring another nice bottle of wine from our home cellar.

Wonderful venue, spectacular service, and a delicious meal!
Reservations are required and hard to get. When I first called at the end of Dec, they were booking into March! But I called every day for 3 days asking about last minute cancelations and lucked out. It was worth the extra effort. Our reservation was for 5:30 (rather early) and outside.
Early January can be quite chilly, and once the sun goes down, outright cold. We dressed warmly... we were immediately seated outside and a gas heating "torch" was turned on right by our table. It really took the chill off and added a romantic flare to the night.
The menu is just a starting point... there are MANY specials and extras. One sounds better than the last. Our waiter was wonderful, attentive, friendly, and informative. He gave wonderful recommendations and suggestions, without being overbearing.
We started with a coconut shrimp special appetizer: yum! Just enough to share. My husband then got a HUGE lobster bisque (yes, we took home leftovers). For our main courses: husband got the special grouper perfectly cooked with an almond slices topping. I got the classic filet cooked perfectly med rare topped with onion strings. Delish! And my husband managed to save room for carrot cake. Each course was perfect cooked. The delivery was timed to allow for a leisurely dinner: not rushed, but also not dead time. Wine was seamlessly refreshed when needed. It was like a carefully choreographed dance.
The prices were on the high side, but not out of synch with other high end resteraunts in the area... and worth every penny.
What a special night!
If you found this review helpful, I would appreciate a thumbs up!

During my long weekend in Vero Beach, I decided to try this restaurant based on the glowing reviews, and I’m so glad I did. The service was exceptional, particularly the way our waitress described the specials with such detail and enthusiasm that it had our mouths watering before we even ordered. When the food arrived, the presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were absolutely delicious. This spot is a gem—I’ll definitely be returning!

1) trying to get a. Reservation challenge as The Tides does t believe in making things easy
2) expect an extraordinary wait for service through the evening. The Tides is understaffed
3) portions are incredibly STINGY. A recent order for the swordfish special arrived with around 3 ounces of meat; and the cost was near $50. HUH?
4) awkward layout and tiny rest rooms make things all the more challenging
PASS on this one if you want a relaxing evening with prompt service, adequate portions for an adult. Reasonably laid out facility and a place where you could make reservations in a reasonable way instead of leaving a 1980’s voice messaging machine. Owners must be running it as a cash cow or the above would be addressed.

My husband and I dined at Tides last evening and continue to be impressed by the exquisite cuisine and impeccable service. We dine here several times a year and find that the food and service are virtually flawless. This evening our server was Joanie. Joanie is a true professional and spot on with everything she says and does. I noticed her interactions with other tables and she reads people so well and graciously guides them based upon their preferences. She is attentive but not obtrusive and extremely knowledgeable and always available if anything is needed.
This evening we selected chicken saltimbocca, red snapper, a caesar salad, creme brulee and a brownie along with beverages and were pleased with our selections. Their house cab is "Bonanza" and it is full bodied awesome! We are foodies and the only changes we would recommend are these two: (1) we would be certain that the romaine does not have water remaining on it before adding the caesar dressing so that it is not watered down a little and we would top it with a bit of shaved cheese; and (2) we would add music and candlelight for ambience. These alone, however, are not enough to reduce a 5 star restaurant to a 4 star in our opinion because the food and service consistently shine.
In addition to Joanie, we would like to thank Kevin, the Bar Manager, for being so nice - another true professional.

We live wedged between Melbourne Beach and Vero Beach in central Florida’s East Coast. Every time we decide to go out to eat in the past 4 years we’ve gone the Melbourne way to find restaurants. Today, we chose going South to Vero Beach and try The Tides. We scored!
The Tides is a beautiful place just one block from the ocean or shoreline with a very nice menu, casual and comfortable ambiance, friendly staff, and YES great food. If on special try the mussels for appetizer. Loved them!
The specials today allow us to not even look at the menu, even if the menu selection seems great. They had at least four specials. My wife went with the veal on the bone and I went for the sword fish. Both fantastic even if the veal on the bone topped with arugula was a bit overwhelming to my wife who eats like a bird. But I was able to nibble on her dish and make my meal a seafood/meat one. Leftovers will be great tomorrow for lunch.
If you are a romantic person, try the front patio. The restaurant is nice inside, but the small porch is really special. Afternoons on this coast are pleasant even on summer hot days. The ocean pushes the onshore breeze and it makes this porch super comfortable.
So don’t worry about out heat.
Thanks to the staff and chef for a wonderful evening with my wife at the Tides.

The Tides came highly recommended from the resort. It was in walking distance from Costa’ de Esta. Our table was ready on arrival. Ambiance was delightful. Sarah, our waitress was attentive and made certain our wine glasses were never empty. My son and husband had the filet and were both pleased. I had the sea scallops which were phenomenal. It was my son’s 23rd birthday and they did a complimentary desert. All the right touches in all the right places. We will return on our next visit.

It's not often that I can be bothered to write a restaurant review, but after reading the one below I had to speak up.
Like the reviewer below my wife and I had dinner on 29 March; like him I had the grouper. That's where the similarities end. We arrived for our 8:15 p.m. reservation only to find that the earlier diners were still eating. Not a problem as it's always worth the wait. We were offered complimentary drinks to compensate. When we were seated I ordered oysters, but they had just run out. I chose scallops and they were deducted from the bill to compensate for "the inconvenience". When the grouper came it was excellent: soft, tender and delicious. To end we received complementary desserts. The service was first class, and the level of cooking was outstanding. This restaurant is a gem run by dedicated professionals who care. They do not deserve such a damning review as the one below.

We had a gift card for this restaurant, we normally do not eat in an establishment that is as expensive as this one is....the food was absolutely outstanding as was the service. I highly recommend The Tides for those special occasions or any time if your budget allows!

Five stars for our recent visit to The Tides Vero Beach... The warm greeting from the hostess to the very attentive wait staff was very much appreciated! The food quality and selections were equally superb. We very much enjoyed the lemongrass mussels, sweet sherry lobster bisque with chunks of lobster, grouper and the pompano was the best I have ever had!! Wow! Even their complimentary mini cornbreads were so delicious. The intimate dining space set inside an old house now has outdoor courtyard seating to enjoy the beautiful Florida ocean breezes as well. We will definitely return again..and again! Thank you

We were a party of 4 for dinner and had an amazing experience. Robert was our server and made our night very special. Bread is served, which is rare these days and the corn muffins melted in our mouths. The menu Snapper was out of world! The Mahi special was amazing, the swordfish special was superb and the menu stuffed chicken was divine. I wish we had a reservation for tonight too. It was truly THAT good. Wonderful hospitality, excellent food and beautiful ambiance. If I could give The Tides 10 stars I would!

Although a strong effort is made to arise up to the impression of a fine dining establishment, the staff rests upon local word of mouth laurels without consistently delivering top notch cuisine for the prices charged. Sure, they get their year long and seasonal regulars whom they try to cater to. (My husband and I are included in that subset). But I can't get by the inconsistent cuisine quality and at times lacking in timely service for the establishment they claim to be. Net/net- hit or miss. I hope your experience will be better than mine.

We came on a very busy night because there was a parade and marathon set for earlier that day (we didn't know). We got off to a rough start but they quickly turned it around. We showed up for our 8pm reservation and due to the parade and traffic, all reservations were delayed. The hostess and manager acknowledged that and bought a round of cocktails (9 people) for the wait. The indoor and outdoor atmosphere of this place is very unique, classy and inviting. We were sat inside a private room that was decorated nicely for the holidays. Our server was pleasant but spunky...in a good way. She was obviously well seasoned on how to handle our crowd. We ordered several appetizers to include the scallops, raw oysters and coco nut shrimp. They were all prepared perfectly. They had a list a mile long of specials for the night. One of them was fresh pompano. Three of our group ordered that and it was amazing. The others ordered fresh sword fish, which was equally as delicious and one person ordered the half duck, which also was very good. All parts of the meal were very enjoyable to include the place itself. We will definitely be coming back.

This is a fine dining restaurant. That is what it tries to be and what it is. If you like or are ready for a fine dining experience than it meets all those requirement.
I prefer something more casual.
Our party of four had seafood appetizers - oysters, calamari and conch fritters. The calamari was not to my liking with a corn bread batter but others in our party found that to be a unique and desirable twist.
For dinner we had grouper and sea bass. All prepared well and quite good. Our server Eddie was attentive but somewhat robotic with little personality. Water refills were on point and immediate. Overall I would say the service was very good. There was one desert ordered and those that partook really liked it.
All in all with 6 drinks the bill was 100 bucks a person including gratuity. I would not rush back would but certainly dine here again.

This restaurant is high end yet retains elements of a neighborhood spot for gathering. The food will ways be hot and served with a charming flair, visible pride, and an over-arching goal of customer satisfaction. At times they have steak tartare that is exceptionally fresh, and I believe in the French fashion. Their fish is always fresh - halibut, mahi mahi, some holidays Dover sole. The filet mignon is delicious. Pork chop is delicious. The service is very good, Chef Leanne shares her love of perfection that is part of a fabulous work ethic and a ton of common sense.
